Abstract

The study aims to justify the need to train future translators to render words and phrases representing characters’ kinesic movements in fiction from one language to another, as well as to propose a corresponding training methodology. The article specifies what a kineme is, indicates its role in fiction and substantiates the importance of its correct translation. An algorithm for translating such words and phrases is presented for the first time. The scientific novelty of the study lies in describing a methodology for training students how to translate words and phrases representing characters’ kinesic movements in fiction. As a result, the article lists the difficulties faced by translators when rendering kinemes from one language to another, presents the algorithm for translating such words and phrases and provides examples of tasks for its successful integration into the educational process, describes the results of testing the developed methodology.
