Abstract

The aggregated resources can be expected to get settlement for a power generation and a capacity in a similar way to conventional generators. The capacity in particular is settled based on the available capacity estimated by forecasting power in the day-ahead of the operating day. The aggregated resources have low reliability of the available capacity due to uncertainty of them. With the unreliable capacity, the issue of unequal capacity payment related to aggregated resources can be caused. In this study, we analyze the variation of profit for distributed energy resources aggregators considering the capacity coefficient based on the capacity factor of aggregated resources in Korean electricity market. The capacity coefficient is calculated by the ratio of the amount of power generation to the amount of resource capacity. The effects of proposed method are evaluated in comparison with the results represented in the conventional settlement case, the proposed case, and the no capacity payment case.
