Abstract

In April 2021, the interstate standard 26640-85 "Lands" ceased to exist. Terms and definitions", which established the fundamental terms and definitions of concepts related to land, including "land", "land resources", "category of land", "land" and others, which are the basis of the conceptual apparatus of such scientific disciplines as land management, real estate cadastre and land monitoring, united one object of research is the earth. This standard was replaced by a new one – the national standard of the Russian Federation GOST R 59055-2020 "Environmental protection. Land. Terms and definitions", which fundamentally changed the approach to the establishment of terms and definitions of basic concepts related to land: firstly, the basic terms and definitions of concepts related to land listed above disappeared; secondly, the key aspect of the document under consideration changed when instead of the state and the use of land became the protection of land and everything related to the protection of the environment. The paper gives a brief description of the new national standard, notes its fundamental differences from the old interstate standard, and identifies problems. to which the changes that have occurred in the fundamental terms and definitions of concepts related to the earth can lead, specific ways of solving them are proposed.
