Abstract
The article considers the techniques of the word play in M. Tsvetaeva’s poem “The Rat-catcher”, in which poetic occasionalisms and German inclusions participate. In view of the close connection of the work with Germany, the author examines the history of the plot in the German-language space and the behavior of the designated linguistic features of the poem in the German translation of the text made by M.-L. Bott. When translating into German, foreign-language inclusions from the original text lose basically their functions. In the case of occasionalisms translation, an interlinear translation is generally proposed, although in many cases the translator manages to get as close to the original as possible.
