Abstract

The article examines the history of creating Russian-Serbian dictionaries, describes the difficulties that arise when translating from one related language into another and suggests ways to overcome them. The relevance of creating a dictionary of abbreviations of scientific and technical fire terms is substantiated. Some features of translating Russian fire-technical vocabulary into Serbian depending on the grammatical structure of the Serbian language are presented. Translation methods determined by the specifics of dictionary entries are described. The widespread use of abbreviations in scientific and technical literature, the relevance and uniqueness of the Russian-Serbian dictionary of fire-technical abbreviations are pointed out. A descriptive method as well as methods of analysis and synthesis are used. Conclusions are drawn about the feasibility of creating the dictionary and its contribution to strengthening international cooperation.
