Abstract

Rapid desensitization therapy (RDT) is a drug administration procedure when temporary tolerance to the medication can be reached within several hours. The method is based on the stepwise administration of increasing doses of the medication, starting from minimal dose until the total target dose is achieved. RDT is widely used when a severe allergic reaction (up to anaphylaxis) develops to a vital irreplaceable drug. The RDT procedure has proven to be effective and safe with the use of chemotherapy drugs, monoclonal antibody drugs, certain antibiotics, and enzyme replacement therapy. The article presents the first Russian case of RDT to imiglucerase in a patient with Gaucher disease and an anaphylactic reaction to imiglucerase.
