Abstract

The contribution of the outstanding Soviet scientist microbiologist Zinaida Vissarionovna Ermolyeva in prevention of the cholera epidemic on the Stalingrad front in days of the Great Patriotic war is described. In the most difficult conditions of wartime, the deep feeling of a debt and responsibility, high professionalism, helped Ermolyeva to reflect epidemiological threat of cholera successfully. Her selfsacrificing efforts have been successfully brought to a logical conclusion and became an example for all country, having opened the new page for history of preventive medicine.
