Abstract

This analytical descriptive study aimed to enhance the contribution of Islamic culture books at King Abdulaziz University to achieving the belongingness components. To achieve this goal, the most important components of belongingness that should be included in these books were determined through an oppinionnaire (a survey of the opinions) of 24 educational experts, and then the content of all the four Islamic culture books taught at King Abdulaziz University was analyzed in light of the belongingness components whose importance was agreed upon. The results of the content analysis showed that the books of Islamic culture at King Abdulaziz University contribute to achieving the belongingness components to Islam by a very large percentage (99.15%), global belongingness by (0.55%), and Saudi national belongingness by (0.30%). The most frequent components of Islamic belongingness were: defining the belongingness components to Islam, maintaining the performance of Islamic duties, sensing the importance of the belongingness components to Islam and the people's need for them, and raising awareness of the challenges or problems facing the Islamic community. On the other hand, the least frequent components of Islamic belongingness was: the development of the spirit of belongingness and the unity of common interests among the Islamic countries. In light of these results, several requirements were proposed to enhance the contribution of Islamic culture books at King Abdulaziz University to achieving the belongingness components.
