Abstract

The article substantiates the need to assess and perceive modern trends that contribute to the transition to sustainable development of regions and the achievement of sustainable development goals (SDGs). The role of sustainable production and consumption as the main component of sustainable development is substantiated. The experience of the largest Russian companies in the field of transition to sustainable development and achievement of the SDGs is analyzed, the main motivator of which is the need to consider modern trends in sustainable development in world markets. It is shown that the transition to sustainable development, sustainable production and consumption of large, medium and small enterprises is not relevant enough, which is confirmed by the results of a survey of enterprises in St. Petersburg. In the course of the survey, estimates were obtained in such important areas of state policy in the field of sustainable development as: investment in the greening of production, the use of the best available technologies, obtaining a certificate for compliance with international standards, the inclusion of the SDGs in the development strategy of the enterprise, taking into account the use of the concept of extended producer responsibility in the activities of the enterprise, corporate social responsibility activities, the use of new economic models (“green” economy, circular economy, bioeconomy). In conclusion, conclusions are presented on the results of the survey and a proposal is briefly formulated to strengthen the activity of enterprises in the field of transition to sustainable development and the achievement of the SDGs.
