Abstract

The peer-reviewed monograph by V.I. Ermolovich "Basic Civil Law Institutions of Medieval Serbia and the Countries of Continental Europe (X-XV centuries)" examines the process of establishing civil law institutions in medieval Serbia based on the customary law of Slavic peoples, as well as Roman and East Roman private law. This factor allowed the author of the monograph to rank the law of medieval Serbia among one of the most advanced and perfect legal systems of medieval Europe in the X-XV centuries.
