Abstract

The research was conducted in the northern and central region of Syria through cluster randomized sample, whose consisted of 364 farmers. The research aims at diagnosing and estimates the functions of total cost, through which access to the average total cost function thus, calculating the optimal production and optimal space and optimum seed rate. Moreover, the research aims at estimating the rates of the economies of size achieved by farmers in the chosen sample. The results showed that Arabi Abiad farmers were interested in economic efficiency in the first agricultural stability zone. Which led to increasing the percentage of barley farmers who achieved economies of size to 65%. As the optimal yield rate matched the actual yield rate which reached 0.25 ton. donom-1. While the Arabi Abiad farmers who were less interested in economic efficiency in the second agricultural stability zone, there less interested led to decreasing the percentage of barley farmers who achieved economies of size to about 46%, as the rate of actual yield deviated from the optimal yield with difference of 0.04 ton. donom-1. Also the interest of Arabi Abiad farmers in the first and second agricultural stability zone, in the seed rates which they used, led to match the seed rates for the actually and optimal yield in the second agricultural stability zone, with a simple deviation between the actually and optimal yield in the first agricultural stability zone reached 0.001 ton. donom-1.
