Abstract

The article examines the basic means and techniques to transfer the Russian cultural realia, their national colour while translating into English. The researcher provides linguo-culturological analysis of culturally meaningful linguistic units in a literary text, identifies their role when forming a linguistic worldview. The Russian and English versions of V. V. Nabokov’s autobiographical novel “Conclusive Evidence” serve as the research material. The conducted study shows that the author uses different translation techniques, though national specificity and national colour of the Russian cultural realia are sometimes lost.
