Abstract
The article discusses the main topics, personalities and events touched upon in the long-term epistolary dialogue between Alexander Alekseevich Izmailov (1873–1921) and Hieronymus Hieronymovich Yasinsky (1850–1931), whose names are extremely signifi cant for the history of the Russian literature and journalism of the late 19th — early 20th century. Apart from highlighting the nuances of their relationship and clarifying certain instances of their life stories, the correspondence between the two writers describes the literary fi eld as a whole, since Izmailov and Yasinsky determined the policies of the major popular editions and were instrumental in shaping the literary reputations of the writers of various trends in 1890s — 1910s.
