Abstract

Introduction: protection and preservation of indigenous peoples of the North is one of the activities of public authorities in the Russian Federation. The regional governments of the Russian Federation should have relevant information on the current state and dynamics of the vital activities of the indigenous peoples of the North, which is needed for strategic and operational decision-making. The development of regional information systems will contribute to the improvement of the state decision-making process. Aims: analysis of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug information system with the view of determining its role in improving the management of the socioeconomic development of indigenous peoples of the North. Methods: system analysis, diachronic analysis, comparative-legal analysis. Results: in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, the Unified Information System for modeling and forecasting the socio-economic development of the indigenous peoples of the North was developed and implemented. Organizationally the heads of local administrations in the municipalities within the autonomous okrug are responsible for the timely provision of the content for the system. The consolidated data of the information system make it possible to produce a comprehensive assessment of the development of the territories with traditional economic activity. Conclusion: the Yamal unified information system serves as an information tool that is used in the development and adoption of government decisions in socioeconomic sphere regarding the indigenous peoples of the North. The specificity of Yamal, information system implementation is the complex use of separate chain links in the work of municipal and regional authorities. The Yamal information system is the only source of official information about the vital activities of the indigenous people of the North, it facilitates establishing the legal status of representatives of indigenous peoples in the autonomous okrug.
