Abstract

The use of the vitamin and mineral complex in a patient with an intermediate stage of age-related macular degeneration and concomitant oncological pathology A.I. As life expectancy increases, the risks of developing age-related retinal diseases such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD) increase. Unfortunately, with increasing life expectancy, older patients are increasingly diagnosed with oncology, which is important to consider when managing patients with AMD. Purpose. To present a clinical example of a patient with an intermediate stage of age-related macular degeneration and a history of cancer, taking vitamin and mineral complexes containing lutein, zeaxanthin, antioxidants, and B vitamins in courses for 7 years. Methods. Patient Sh. born 1952 AMD in the intermediate stage of the disease was identified in 2017. There is a history of lung cancer. Results. At the first examination in 2017, «soft» drusen measuring 250–270 µm were detected on horizontal OCT sections. Over 7 years, there was no transition from intermediate to late stage AMD in the presence of high risk. Conclusion. Complex therapy of a patient with AMD and a history of cancer over the past 7 years with the additional recommendation of a course of taking the Visleya dietary supplement helped to stabilize the condition of the retina and the transition from the intermediate stage of AMD to the late stage of the disease, without negatively affecting the general condition of the patient.
