Abstract

The article dwells on one of the central categories of anthropocentric linguistics – language identity. Specific characteristics of the collective cultural and language identity are considered in the discourse of authors of the American leading political journals who are represented as bearers of national culture values of the American society. The journalistic discourse community analyses the image of China’s Chairman Xi Jinping in the mirror of the basic liberal values: democracy, liberty, individualism, patriotism, progress in the context of the ethno-cultural polarization «the own»–«the alien».
