Abstract

The article considers the issues of creating subtitles for people with hearing impairment while translating audio-visual works. Originality of the study lies in the fact that the authors examine the basic features of this type of translation activity in the contrastive aspect, comparing the Russian and British experience of subtitling for this category of people. The analysis of approaches to subtitling was conducted on the basis of the existing studies and normative documents and allowed achieving the research objective - to identify the problems that require attention of modern translators and translation teachers.
