Abstract

The article deals with the study of the artistic realization of the concept of "happiness" on the basis of a comparative analysis of A.P. Chekhov's "Happiness" and various translations of Lu Xun's story "Prayer for Happiness". Happiness is considered as the national dominant of Russian and Chinese artistic consciousness. The relevance of the article is associated with a small number of studies of the poetics of writers in a comparative aspect. Considering the main features of the poetics of A.P. Chekhov and Lu Xun: the chronotope of the path, change of the narrator, centripetal development of the plot, parable, reflecting hero, motivic organization, it is established that different translations of the titles of Lu Xun's story are caused by the complexity of the concept under study. The parallelism in the artistic representation of the main features of the Chinese and Russian ideas about happiness consists in the following conclusions: it must be universal, the road to it is closed or known only to the elect, it has a duality (external and internal sides), is based on popular ideas about the secret and explicit sides of life. The duality of the concept of "happiness" explains the different translation receptions.
