Abstract
In the era of computer internet hysteria 12th May 2017 saw the major cyber attack in form of virus called Ransomware. Ransomware is a form of malicious software that locks up the files on your computer, encrypts them, and demands that you pay to get your files back. The main aim of this research article is to identify what is ransomware virus and its types of characteristics and then how to prevent our system from this virus. Various recommendations regarding the ransomware virus are presented by detail analysis on it. The recommended action is drawn on the basis of various steps to prevent our system from it.
