Abstract

The aim of the study is to show the didactic potential of authentic videos and the possibility of their use in Russian as a foreign language classes taking into account students’ future professional activities using the example of working with the short feature film “Moscow – Vladivostok”. The practice-oriented paper focuses mainly on the need to develop all types of speech activities, which is facilitated by different types of tasks presented in a system. This determines the scientific novelty of this approach, namely: the development of a single algorithm for the established sequence of educational actions at each stage when working with the selected material (tasks for overcoming language difficulties; questions and tasks aimed at the development of students’ predictive skills and contextual guessing; communicative exercises). As a result, the author notes the significant linguocultural potential of feature films, which determines the conditions for the formation and development of students’ communication skills.
