Abstract

The article is devoted to the relevant problem of the modern screen adaptations of the Russian classical literature when a story is carried into modernity. In particular, the author focuses on A. S. Pushkin’s tragedy “Boris Godunov” and A. P. Chekhov’s story “Ward № 6”. The study has interdisciplinary nature and lies at the junction of literary criticism, art criticism and culturology. Special attention is paid to the process of historical context broadening as a technique, which allows adapting an original text to modern realias.
