Abstract

The results of genomic research are universal knowledge, the theoretical possibility of which does not depend on state borders and nationality of people. The risks associated with the conduct of genomic research and the application of their results, especially the possibility of a negative impact on human life and health, as well as the state of the environment, need to be assessed in detail and minimized, including by legal means. All over the world, public relations in the field of genomic research have both similar features and individual national characteristics. The role of legal regulation is to regulate them in such a way that would minimize the risks that arise and would not hinder further scientific and technological progress in the development of knowledge and technology. The article analyzes the existing norms of international law, as well as its impact on the development of national law in the field of regulation of genomic research in a number of foreign countries.
