Abstract

The article deals with the problem of the open professional diplomatic discourse emotivity, the sentiment of speeches within the UN Security Council, the problems of the sentiment changing during the official translation of speeches from Russian into English. The relevance is determined by the need to analyze the emotivity transfer degree of speeches in the translation process, because texts of speeches translated into one of the official languages of the United Nations – English – due to its status as an international language are more accessible to readers and because of this are able to have a more significant impact on the audience. The purpose is to analyze the results of translation of spoken texts by means of linguistic and computer analysis to identify changes in the level of emotivity of the source and translated texts. Reasons for the change in tonality during translation are discussed.
