Abstract

The results of theoretical calculations of the emission intensities of various states of excited molecular oxygen are compared with experimental data on the nighttime glow of O2 obtained from the Space Shuttle Discovery. The calculated values of the integral luminosity (histograms) for the considered months of the Earth's year are presented. It is shown that at the middle latitudes of the Earth during the period of low solar activity, the maximum values of the integrated luminosity for Herzberg I and Chamberlain bands are in July, for Atmospheric bands — in October.
