The Plains Indian Collection of the Haffenreffer Museum of Anthropology
For the first time, we publish on the unique bison skin, dated to the second half of the nineteenth century, from the Innokentiy P
We provide some detailed information on when and how this item was transferred to the Museum, and, based on our analysis of the style and composition of the ‘war scene’ depicted on the skin, conclude that it is unlikely that the skin had ever been used in the culture of Native Americans
