Abstract

The growing interest in the study of phraseological units (hereinafter - PhU) in the pragmatic aspect is due to their widespread use in speech. German and Russian phraseological units with a military component represent a special subsystem of the language, the source of which is military-political relations, military affairs, events of military history. Within the framework of the considered array of PhU with a military component, two subgroups were identified - PhU with an explicitly and implicitly represented military component. The article examines the linguistic context in which PhU is used, and applies the method of contextual analysis to identify linguistic units-actualisators. Studying the context of the phraseological units with an explicit and implicit military component in Russian and German, namely intra-textual actualisators of the PhU meaning, allows concluding that the context largely determines the choice of one or another PhU, revealing and implementing its semantics.
