Abstract

The article discusses approaches of foreign scientists to the study of the political system created by Rome after the victory over the Latin League in the war of 341-338 BC. The new system that emerged as a result of the settlement of 338 BC, served as a basis for the successful development of Roman expansion in Italy. The tools for expanding and consolidating Roman rule on the peninsula were a network of bilateral alliances between Rome and the Italian communities, the extension of Roman citizenship, and colonization. This created the basis for the political unification and romanization of Italy.
