Abstract

The article examines 1944, 1996 and 2008 editions of the Yakut fairy tale, identifies the basic differences in the story structure, discovers the functions of the main story-formative elements and analyzes how the images differ in the tale versions. To achieve the research objective the author used textological comparison of story structures, key images in the aspect of structural analysis of the Yakut fairy tale. Relying on the research findings the author for the first time in literary criticism proves that 1944 edition of the Yakut fairy tale is associated with the olonkho, 1996 edition is a classic fairy tale, and 2008 edition is predetermined by modern values.
