Abstract
<p>The paper examines the impact of “social<br />entrepreneurship” on local development. The<br />cases presented below have been selected<br />among social enterprises in the area of<br />Nafpaktia. Municipalities, cooperatives,<br />welfare associations as well as private<br />investors are actively involved in the operation<br />of those fi rms. Besides economic returns,<br />the operation of such institutions is expected<br />to enhance employment and contribute to<br />the overall community development.</p>
