Abstract

The article discusses the artistic career of the famous Ukrainian opera and chamber singer Orest Rusnak. His musical activity is diverse. The performer’s singing career and devotion to arts, especially to the Ukrainian song and its popularization in the world are shown in the research in the light of his biography. The connections with cultural intelligence, his concerts and tours in Ukraine and abroad, records are based on the memories of Orest Rusnak and his colleagues, famous music critics, friends and relatives.The famous Ukrainian tenor Orest Rusnak, whose name is known both among western artists and Ukrainians was a soloist in opera houses in Bratislava, Olomouc, Konigsberg, Szczecin, Chemnitz, Graz, Berlin and Munich.His activity is of great importance and is one of the best pages of Ukrainian art in the context of international culture. Due to the incessant work of the talented artist Ukrainian music was presented in different countries and continents. Realization of the necessity to organize the cultural and public life of Ukrainians abroad led the singer to his participation in the Association of Ukrainians from Bukovyna abroad (1954). All his opera, concert, phonographic, pedagogical activities were consciously and purposefully subordinated to the desire to serve the Ukrainian people. For many years he was considered to be the first opera tenor, he toured Vienna, Linz, Leipzig, Dresden, Berlin, Graz, Munich, Toronto, New York, Detroit, Chicago, but he had never forgotten the motherland and Ukrainian song was his soul’s need.
