Abstract

The current study aimed at identifying the relationship between marital happiness and both orientation towards life and the ability to recognize facial emotions as well as the possibility of predicting marital happiness through the orientation towards life and the ability to recognize facial emotions. It also explores differences in marital happiness, orientation towards life and the ability to recognize facial emotions attributed to the gender and age of married males and females employees at Jazan University. The whole sample of the study consisted of 145 married employees at Jazan University (80 males and 65 females) aged between 30 and 50 years. The researcher utilized three scales: marital happiness feeling scale, orientation towards life scale and the ability to recognize emotions via facial expressions scale. Results of the study indicated that there is a statistically significant correlation between marital happiness and both orientation towards life and recognizing facial emotions among married university employees. Results also reached that there are statistically significant differences among the mean scores of university employees in marital happiness, orientation towards life and the ability to recognize facial emotions that can be attributed to gender and age. Additionally, results indicated the possibility of predicting marital happiness through the orientation towards life and recognizing facial emotions among married university employees.
