Abstract
Motivating students by scoring homework is essential to students’ learning, as it is a motivating factor in helping students achieve better results. However, teachers’ activities to encourage students to study hard and achieve better results are limited. Therefore, this research aims to observe students' behavior when receiving homework scores that are used in the classroom to motivate them to study. The research method employed a qualitative method, involving two data collection methods, including observation and interviews. A thematic analysis was used for data analysis. Results from the observations showed improvements in the students' behavior and the number of students who did their homework every day for three weeks. Results from the interviewers also showed improvement in the level of scores obtained by the students and their motivation. Therefore, it can be concluded that teachers really play an important role in motivating students in all forms according to the characteristics or types of each student, but the scores are the main motivation source in the classroom that must exist. On the other hand, if there are other forms of encouragement from the school, parents, or those close to the students, it is very beneficial for them.
