Developing a Sales Dashboard with Power BI – A Case Study in a Pharmaceutical Company

A dashboard is a steering tool for data-driven decision-making and a lever for innovation in the pharmaceutical industry. It makes it possible to integrate relevant performance measurement indicators, chosen according to the objectives to be achieved and according to specific criteria. In this context, our work is inscribed, which aims to develop a dashboard for the sales department of a pharmaceutical company. The choice of this tool is motivated by its importance and the strategic challenge it presents for companies today. The implementation of this dashboard will be broken down into four phases. First, we collect sales department sales and develop the data marts. Then, to generate the data model, we have to import the database into Power BI (Microsoft Power Business Intelligent). We select the adequate KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) to create the interactive sales dashboard. This dashboard allows the decision makers to analyze and visualize data, moving from traditional sales data storage to big data analytics. Based on this visualization tool, the sales manager can propose potential improvements and essential investments and develop the management review to be presented as an annual report. This report is important for managing and monitoring pharmaceutical activities. Existing data are used and visualized to target the goals of decision-makers.

The article discusses the existing scientific approaches to evaluating the efficiency of the activities of state financial control bodies. The content of the efficiency concept is disclosed, scientific views on the formation of the system of performance measurement indicators are examined. The lack of uniformity of approaches to the development of criteria and indicators for assessing the efficiency of the state financial control bodies’ activities is also revealed. The purpose of the study is to formulate unified, universal approaches to such an assessment. The author proposes original ways of evaluation using complex indicators. In the course of the study the methods of systematization, comparative, logical and statistical analysis were used. The results can be used by the bodies of state financial control for the development of efficiency assessment methodology.

Emerging wireless communication technologies in Iraqi government: Exploring cloud, edge, and fog computing

This study aims to structure the implementation of a governmental cloud of things (CoT), edge computing (EC), and fog computing in Iraq in the context of sustainable wireless communication. A base of literature was built that included any challenges, opportunities, and best practices relevant to these innovative technologies to set up the background for this paper. A concept model was created that included core components (cognitive technologies and fog computing), key processes (resource analysis, infrastructure design), and stakeholders (governments, industry, community). A strategic methodology made up of stakeholder involvement, capacity building, and pilot projects was used in the project. Concerning IoT planned deployment and services provision, network infrastructure was put in place to support the devices and a higher level of security measures were recommended. Using scenario hypothesis, MATLAB simulator was employed to simulate data value distribution as well as received power distribution based on different institutions for 12 months. Monitoring and evaluation should be followed to measure performance indicators and effects on this process. Continuously improvement strategies were the highlight of the session which further stimulated innovations. Acquainted projects will be put in the function to extend the range of activities by including additional government agencies, regions, or sectors. Reporting of the collected data and funding will be done with stakeholders to share and pool knowledge.

Key Performance Indicators and Metrics for the Implementation of an Oral Chemotherapy Adherence Program.

Oral anticancer agents (OAAs) transformed cancer care for patients, extending survival and delaying progression in certain cases. There are multiple pharmacy-driven models to improve patient knowledge and adherence to OAAs. However, a lack of measurable key performance indicators (KPIs) has limited the adoption, implementation, and maintenance of these models. The objective of this study was to identify a set of KPIs, their metrics, and the target values that indicated improved patient care through an OAA adherence program. A literature review was conducted to identify an initial list of defined KPIs, metrics of the KPIs, and targets for success. We assembled an advisory panel of clinicians (n=9), administrators (n=7), and patients (n=2) from across an academic and affiliated community cancer center to gauge agreement on identified KPIs for use within a structured adherence intervention. We used a Qualtrics survey consisting of questions measured using a 5-point Likert scale response that ranged from 1 (strongly disagree) to 5 (strongly agree) and a subsequent consensus-building discussion with the advisory panel to identify agreeability with the definitions, metrics, and targets of identified KPIs. Eleven KPIs were identified: (1) time to intended OAA initiation; (2) adherence rate during active treatment; (3) adverse events; (4) medication-related financial toxicity; (5) patient satisfaction; (6) treatment-related emergency department visits; (7) treatment-related hospital admissions; (8) proportion of patients with adherence, toxicity, and financial barriers assessed; (9) proportion of patients referred to social work; (10) time spent by patient in each phase of care as defined by the intervention's standard operating procedure; and (11) revenue generated by billing for service. This study identified 11 KPIs that can be used in evaluating the success of an OAA adherence program. Use of these KPIs will be piloted after formal implementation of the program in both academic and community cancer centers.

An Assessment of Factors Affecting Employee Performance in Zambian Local Authorities: A Case Study of Lukulu Town Council

Organizational performance through employee performance has been a major global concern of companies and as such various organizations have shifted focus on engineering their employee management processes. The purpose of the study was to assess factors affecting employee performance in Zambian municipalities. The study was guided by three objectives which were; to establish effects of employee motivation on employee performance; to find out the effect of working conditions on employee performance, and to establish the effect of management style on employee performance. A mixed method approach was used with questionnaire and scheduled interviews as data collection tools. A census was used to derive the total sample size of 93 employees. Stratified sampling technique was utilized where 93 respondents were administered with questionnaires while 11 respondents were selected for qualitative data collection through interviews. The study utilized a descriptive approach to quantitative data analysis through the use of SPSS while qualitative data was themed for content analysis. The study response was 97%. The results revealed that majority of the employees at 83% stated that they did not receive enough morale to achieve their tasks which depicted lack of motivation through performance management strategies and feedback. Similarly, 70% stated that they lacked a proper environment, tools, personal protective clothing, and equipment to undertake their tasks effectively and efficiently. Further, 75% stated that there was no key consultation and feedback with regards to tasks and grievances, which are a critical component for motivation and effective performance of roles and responsibilities. Employees felt discriminated which is contrary to the aspirations of the Equity Theory. The study concluded that despite setting clear organizational goals, management lacked proper merit based performance management strategies interlaced with motivation techniques, the creation of a conducive working environment through provision of requisite tools for effective performance and proper establishment of both vertical and horizontal work relationships between superiors and subordinates for effective communication. Therefore, the study strongly recommends the establishment of reward based performance management systems with measurable key performance indicators to accord feedback to the employees along with the need to invest in employee health and safety through provision of well-ventilated office space, personal protective equipment and other working tools. There must be deliberately established systems of top-bottom communication to create a sense of belonging and promote inclusiveness in decision making for employees at production level through necessary key consultations and performance feedback.

Approach for the Development of a Sustainability-oriented Implementation Strategy of Smart Automation Technologies

With respect to the increased demands on sustainability, Smart Automation is a promising solution to realize an improvement of the environmental impact of production systems. However, the majority of companies are limited in their ability and resources to simultaneously install several technologies. Consequently, the selection and prioritization of technologies in terms of implementation strategies with a particular focus on the environmental impact is a major challenge for manufacturing companies. It is therefore the objective to introduce a framework for decision support for implementation strategies for Smart Automation technologies with special emphasis on environmental impact of the measures taken. An integral part of the approach is the identification of appropriate indicators for environmental performance measurement as well as location factors that may influence environmental impacts. In addition, a conceptual framework and an analysis of the net of bilateral interdependencies of the three pillars environmental location factors, Smart Automation technologies, and performance indicators are developed. Subsequently, these interdependencies are transferred to an assembly system using the methodology of hybrid modeling and simulation. Finally, the developed approach is validated in cooperation with a manufacturing company.

도시재생사업의 성과측정에 관한 연구

The urban regeneration project started under the Park Geun-hye administration and was promoted more heavily as a New Deal project under the Moon Jae-in administration. However, as the urban regeneration project progressed, problems arose that residents could not feel due to poor implementation performance and low execution ability. Accordingly, in this study, in order to establish and achieve the goals of the urban regeneration revitalization plan, a management system and performance indicators for monitoring, evaluation, and feedback are presented to systematically and comprehensively manage everything from plan establishment to performance and effect derivation, and a resident satisfaction survey to measure performance. We conducted an investigation. In order to accurately measure performance, the ‘Comprehensive Performance Index’ presented by the central government was used as a common indicator, and the ‘Local Government Performance Index’ was comprehensively analyzed and used as an auxiliary indicator. In this study, research was conducted targeting the ‘Jeonju Station Area Urban Regeneration Area’, which is currently under construction, to select indicators for performance measurement, and practical data was presented in relation to the research method.

How the Performance of Medium, Small and Micro Co-operatives Should be Measured? A Perspective from Malaysia

Researchers have focused too much on the financial performance of co-operatives, neglecting the original purpose and nature of co-operatives. There is a gap in the literature, especially in developing a holistic measurement of co-operative performance based on stakeholder perspectives. Thus, the objective of this study is to develop a measurement of co-operative performance, considering co-operative principles and economic, social, and sustainable governance perspectives, suitable for the context of medium, small, and micro co-operatives. Malaysia is used as the context. In conducting this study, the Delphi technique is utilized where a specific focus group consisting of five clusters representing the stakeholders as participants. Qualitative analysis of results suggests performance indicators that reflect the purpose (objectives) and principles of co-operatives, which are divided into three aspects, economic, social and sustainable governance. This study is one of very few studies that develop the indicators for co-operative performance measurement. Hence, it is important for co-operatives in this category to consider the use of indicators suggested in this study to comprehensively measure their performance.

HR Analytics in The Commercial Aviation Sector: a literature review

HR Analytics is the area of Human Resources Management (HRM) that uses the techniques of artificial Intelligence, social sciences, and innovation to extract, treat, and present data for decision-making. This has been a big trend in HR in recent years, with already business cases, academic studies, and industry applications, but it is still in an early stage of development. The commercial aviation industry has people at the heart of its strategy, as it is a people-to-people service. But there are no satisfied customers without satisfied employees. In addition, the topic of aviation safety is a central one, and the sector has extensive regulations on the subject. Aviation safety is also based on human-machine interaction and crew resource management (CRM). People must therefore be in the core strategy of aviation companies because, for the provision of their service, the human factor in the interaction with the machine, the team, and the customer is a critical success factor. An appropriate approach to HR Analytics is to start with the problems that the business faces and, from there, create indicators and models that can measure them. In this paper, a sectoral and problem-based HR analytics is discussed, which is one of its main contributions. HR analytics techniques are descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive. Starting from the nature of the air operation and its problems, HR analytics is an essential strategy to better know and act on the evidence of aviation service and operation. The purpose of this publication is to understand what academic studies exist on the applications of HR Analytics to the aviation industry. Through a literature review, it was concluded that the aviation sector has also few academic studies about HR analytics; however, there are already some indicators and models that can point in the right direction for the future. This is an area that can help measure performance indicators of HR policies and provide management with important data for decision-making in human resources management. The results of this research are presented, future research paths are suggested, and the limitations of this study are pointed out.

Deviation between the Convergence to the Target Values of the Performance Indicators of the Local Strategic Goals for the Development of Entrepreneurship and the Average National Trends: Case Study of the City of Rijeka

This paper addresses the selection of appropriate measurable performance indicators for monitoring defined strategic goals for entrepreneurship and business sector development at the local level, particularly from the perspective of bringing the pace of development closer to the national average. Using the example of the Croatian city of Rijeka, the paper analyses whether the convergence to the target values of key indicators of success in achieving the city's strategic goals in the field of entrepreneurship also contributes to favourable development dynamics of the local business sector compared to the average national trends. The results presented in this paper have shown that the overall performance of local entrepreneurs in the city of Rijeka, although approaching the target values, still lags behind the average trends at the national level. This is mainly reflected in the below-average labour productivity, below-average economic strength and below-average capital equipment, as well as in the extremely monolithic structure of the local business sector. Therefore, this case study shows that it is important for cities to consider the broader context of specific development goals when developing appropriate indicators to monitor the success of their implementation, especially in terms of national or regional development averages and criteria for the long-term stability and resilience of a city's development.

Do programme budget mechanisms improve the efficiency of public spending? Elements of theory and empirical data from Cameroon

This paper sets out to explore the effect of programme budget mechanisms on the efficiency of public spending. To do so, we first conducted an exploratory study among eight officials involved in the preparation and execution of the State budget. This exploratory study then enabled us to construct the variables to produce an analytical model. A survey was carried out among 475 performance chain actors in the central services of 29 ministerial departments of the State of Cameroon. The results obtained using descriptive statistics and simple probit regressions suggest that the mechanisms introduced by the programme budget have a mixed effect on the efficiency of public spending. While, on the one hand, structuring the budget into programmes, actions, activities and tasks, performance measurement indicators and a priori controls on the quality of programmes may have a positive effect on the efficiency of public spending; on the other hand, allocating appropriations according to expected results and costs and a posteriori internal and external budgetary controls have a negative influence on the efficiency of public spending. The study recommends developing the external budgetary controls and introducing internal controls that focus more on performance rather than consistency.

Life cycle management for service life extension of structures

AbstractA very important task to improve the sustainability of existing structures is to extend their service life especially in terms of resource conservation and sustainability. Therefore, the assessment and the required safety level of an existing structure are of particular importance (condition monitoring). This contribution focusses on how data from established inspection and monitoring approaches are essential and examines the more advanced, additional approaches currently under review. Both the load‐bearing capacity and the serviceability must be guaranteed over a certain period of time at or above the required safety level. The serviceability of a structure can be measured by performance indicators. It is examined how the definition and measurement of performance indicators in conjunction with a well‐designed life cycle management action can be used to extend the service life while ensuring safety levels.

The impact of financial fair play on the financial performance of Spanish professional football: do the biggest clubs behave better?

PurposeThis study aims to contribute to the analysis of the impact of financial control or “financial fair play” (FFP) regulations on the financial performance of the Spanish professional football league (LaLiga) by examining the moderating role of club size. The authors argue that introducing FFP positively impacted the financial performance of small clubs but increased the economic gap between large and small clubs.Design/methodology/approachA 12-year dataset covering 22 football clubs is used to test the hypotheses. Panel regression models are estimated for eight measures of financial performance indicators, comprising three financial dimensions: profitability, liquidity and solvency. The Gini index is applied to clubs' economic and sports variables to determine the degree of economic imbalance between the largest and smallest clubs.FindingsThe results show that FFP significantly and positively impacted the profitability of small clubs and the solvency of medium-sized clubs but has not impacted the largest clubs' financial performance. After these regulations, economic inequality in Spanish LaLiga increased.Originality/valueThe authors find evidence that club size moderates the effect of FFP on financial performance. The moderating role of club size may explain the mixed results found in previous research. The authors’ findings contribute to improving the literature on the impact of FFP on the financial performance of European football clubs.

Visitasi Akreditasi Sekolah untuk Pembinaan, Pengembangan, dan Peningkatan Mutu Madrasah di MIS Miftahul Aula

Accreditation is an activity to assess the feasibility of basic and secondary education units, and early childhood education and non-formal education units based on established criteria to provide quality assurance of education. Accreditation is useful as a reference in efforts to improve the quality and development of schools/madrasas. The method used for this accreditation visitation refers to the 2020 Education Unit Accreditation Instrument (IASP 2020). put emphasis on IASP2020 on measuring performance indicators with 4 main components, namely the quality of graduates, the ongoing learning process in schools/madrasas. This visitation was carried out for 2 days from 05 August 2022 to. August 6, 2022, at MIS Miftahul Aula, Jl. Husin Hamzah RT.05, Sebuai, Kec. Kumai, Kab. Kotawaringin Barat Prov. Central Kalimantan. Visitation activities are carried out through field observations, class observations, and interviews with madrasa residents in the context of verification, as well as validation of data and information provided by madrasah through accreditation instruments. After knowing the items that have a low score, suggestions and recommendations are prepared. These suggestions are in the framework of fostering, developing and improving the quality of schools/madrasah.

Factors Affecting Business Performance: Expanding Theoretical Measurements

Purpose: The article aims to expand a scale system of factors that impacts on business performance.   Theoretical framework: The paper based on the empirical data collected from various types of participants, including accountants (for information providing), managers (for decision-making), sales staff (for work), and lecturers (for research) in Vietnam.   Design/methodology/approach: By descriptive and comparative statistical analysis of SPSS 20 software with 124 valid observations, the survey has proposed the scale system of influencing factors (03 groups of external factors, 05 groups of internal factors) and business performance measures (10 financial and 11 non-financial indicators).   Findings: This study points out the different evaluations according to the demographic features of survey subjects on the group of financial indicators. Specifically, the group of accountants (representing information providers) obtains a lower score than the group of information users. Likewise, the post-graduated participants show stricter assessments of financial indicators in comparison to the rest of the group.   Research, Practical & Social implications: These results suggest the scale system for measuring influencing factors toward business performance in enterprises for further research.   Originality/value: The value of the study is providing an expansion of the factors affecting the efficiency of an enterprise and points out a commonly used set of financial performance measurement indicators. Research results provide useful references for research on related issues.

Education and training have a strategic role in improving the quality of human resources, namely civil servants who are professional both in terms of competence, attitude and expected behavior in accordance with their respective duties and roles. The objectives of education and training have an influence on employee performance, this can be seen from the objectives of the training which are in line with performance measurement indicators. The purpose of this theoretical review is to find out how the functions and roles of education and training affect the improvement of employee performance skills in companies. The method used is a theoretical review by analyzing and comparing existing theories. The results of this theoretical review are in carrying out the roles and functions of education and training to improve employee performance skills by increasing human resources, advancing science and technology, and increasing the quality development of company quality. It can be concluded that the role and function of education and training is an activity of a company that intends to be able to improve and develop attitudes, behavior, skills and knowledge of employees in accordance with the wishes of the company in improving employee performance. For agencies or companies, it is also necessary to encourage the development of the basic capabilities of existing employees. The education and training carried out by the company is beneficial for the company, employees, and improves performance and performance in good quality.

Analisis Faktor Konfirmasi Indeks Pembangunan Manusia Indonesia Tahun 2019-2020

The Human Development Index (IPM) is one of the development target indicators that is very important to pay attention to its development, because it is one of the main performance measurement indicators for Regional Incentive Funds (DID) in encouraging community welfare improvements. In 2020, Indonesia's HDI percentage slowed down by 0.03 percent. This research aims to examine the dimensions that need to be developed so that Indonesia's HDI achievements continue to increase. This descriptive and verification research uses a quantitative approach. Secondary data collected in this study were analyzed using confirmatory factor analysis. The results state that the dimension of a decent standard of living has the strongest contribution to HDI achievements. Another result is that Papua is a province with the lowest standard of living in Indonesia which is reflected in its per capita expenditure. Several factors contribute to the low standard of living in the province of Papua, namely the high unemployment rate and poverty rate.

Aspects of the Life Cycle of Chirostoma jordani (Pisces: Atherinopsidae) in A Periurban Lake from Mexico City: An Ecophysiological Assessment

Chirostoma jordani is an endemic species of Mexico, whose populations due to different natural and anthropogenic causes, have experienced a notable decline in recent decades, endangering their permanence in their natural habitat, including the Xochimilco canals. Therefore, this study focused on updating the status of the species in Xochimilco through an ecophysiological analysis with a bioenergetic approach, using as a model the elements (P and R) of the general energy balance equation. The measured performance indicators of the species during an annual cycle were: analysis of the structure of size (total length, TL and weight, W), body composition of the tissue: wet weight (WW), dry weight (DW), body water content (WC), nitrogen and energy content, growth rate (GR) = production (P), and metabolic rate (R) in relation to body weight in two contrasting seasons of the year (dry and rainy), as well as assimilation efficiency (P + R). The physicochemical dynamics of the habitat of the species was evaluated in all the sampling months, through eight water quality variables and was correlated with the previously indicated performance measures using discriminant analysis. The composition by sizes indicated that the spawning season and the entry of recruits into the population take place during the dry season (February - May), reaching the highest growth rates in the period March - April: 0.23 mm TL/ day, as well as the highest values in: assimilation (2,457.2 cal/g DW/day), energy expenditure in metabolism and tissue energy enrichment (CI95%: 3,493.6 – 4,762.6 cal/g DW), as opposed to the rainy season of the annual cycle: August – November, which is defined by the greatest environmental heterogeneity with extreme values of pH, total solids and nitrite concentrations that interact as constraints on the performance of the population. It is concluded that the population of C. jordani in the study area is subject to extreme environmental pressures, and the quantitative indicators used are of great value to identify and diagnose the risk status of the species and should be used to delimit future actions in its management and conservation.

VARIABLES AND INDICATORS TO MEASURE THE PERFORMANCE OF SUSTAINABLE CONSTRUCTION PROJECT MANAGEMENT OF CITY PARK

City people need a quality city park. It makes the city park development project anticipate the needs of the community and the environment. Currently, city parks in Jakarta aren’t qualified, because the gaps in the management of city park construction projects. The research aim is to provide a set of variables and indicators that influence the pre-construction stage of managing a sustainable City Park construction project to measurement city park project cost performance and quality, as a reference for increasing the achievement of city park functions. This study applies a combination of Soft System Methodology (SSM) and Hard System Methodology (HSM) with Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and questionnaires. This research is consultant's point of view pilot project. The research results are a set of variables and indicators for performance measurement as a basis for developing a model of sustainable city park construction projects management in future research.
