Bibliometric Analysis of Oral Presentations with Mobile Technology in Tertiary Education

Background: Oral presentations, vital for assessing student understanding and communication skills in higher education, are enhanced by peer feedback and video recording. However, language anxieties necessitate supportive strategies. This study explores mobile technology's role in presentations via a bibliometric analysis.Methodology: This study uses bibliometric analysis to track research trends in mobile technology use in higher education oral presentations from 2014 to 2023. Data was gathered from the Dimensions database and analyzed with Excel and VOSviewer, revealing publication and citation trends, top researchers, thematic clusters, and research categories.Findings: Research output rose steadily until 2017, then surged in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Rising citations reflect enduring impact. The focus is on education, with contributions from various disciplines. Global collaboration is evident among top researchers.Conclusion: The study finds that mobile tech-based oral presentations are crucial in higher education, promoting learning and skills. It underscores research resilience and adaptability to global challenges like the Covid-19 pandemic, providing valuable insights for future research and teaching practices.Originality: This study explores trends in oral presentations with mobile technology in higher education via a detailed bibliometric analysis. It provides insights into research output, citation impact, and thematic clusters, contributing to the dialogue on effective teaching and assessment practices.

Analysis Student's Communication Skills Using ICARE-U Learning Model on Energy Sources Materials

The research aimed to analyze the impact of the ICARE-MBI2 (ICARE-U) learning model on students communication skills on energy source materials. The ADDIE design (analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation) was applied. The participants of this research are 13 male students called “Mekhanai” and 17 women called “Muli” (Lampungnese tribe) of class 12 in Senior High School in Bandar Lampung. The instruments used in this study were creative thinking skills tests, with four communication skills indicators by Partnership 21 framework. The improvement of communication skills can be seen from the average communication skills of task 1 and task 2 were 52.5 and 95.75 and there is a significant impact on students’ communication skills on energy sources materials. Student responses were analyzed after using the ICARE-U learning model with the Rasch model analysis. The results measure was 0.60 with an average of 0.54 for 30 students and 10 questions. Student’s communication skills had improved after receiving learning using the ICARE-U learning model with students’ worksheets and learning website as multimedia. Based on this research, learning using the ICARE-U model impacts students communication skills on energy source materials. Keywords: communication skills, ICARE-U learning model, energy

Mathematical Communication Skills of Junior High School Students in Solving Straight Line Equation Problems Based on Learning Interest

One of the skills that students should possess to compete in the 21st century is communication skills, including mathematical communication skills. In short, mathematical communication skill is an ability of students to convey their mathematical ideas. However, the facts show that the mathematical communication skills of junior high school students are still relatively low. This problem is closely related to learning interests. This study aims to analyze and describe the mathematical communication skills of junior high school students in solving straight-line equation problems based on learning interest. This study used a qualitative research method with a case study design. The research subjects were 33 grade VIII students from one of the junior high schools in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. Data were collected using triangulation techniques from data on mathematical communication skills tests about straight line equations, learning interest questionnaires, and interviews. The research findings revealed that students with good and very good learning interests, mostly at level 3 mathematical communication skills (in general they can communicate ideas effectively but there are some small errors), students in the good enough learning interest category are at level 2 mathematical communication skills (can communicate some ideas with slightly ambiguous explanations), and students in poor learning interest are at level 3 mathematical communication skills (in general they can communicate ideas effectively but there are some minor errors). Increased Perceived Confidence in Professional Role Skills among Undergraduate Dietetic Students Following Simulation-Based Learning Experiences

Simulation-based learning experiences (SBLEs) are effective for teaching healthcare students clinical and communication skills. The current study assessed self-perceived clinical and communication confidence among dietetics students completing a series of four SBLEs (3 group, 1 individual) across nine months. Dietetics students were recruited in February 2023 prior to their first SBLE. Simultaneously through the academic year, students completed clinical and communication courses. Students were invited to complete an online, anonymous self-reported survey regarding confidence with nutrition care and communication prior to their first SBLE (Time 1), prior to their third SBLE (Time 2), and following their final SBLE (Time 3). The survey measured healthcare work experience and self-perceived confidence. Student confidence increased among 30 of the 38 indicators (p < 0.05). At Time 2 (following two group SBLEs), those with healthcare experience had higher confidence among 12 of the 39 items (p < 0.05). At Time 3 (following four simulation experiences) those with healthcare experience had higher confidence among just four of the 39 total items (p < 0.05). Cohort increases in confidence suggest that SBLEs, along with dietetics coursework, were critical in increasing confidence and students’ perceived ability to carry-out entry-level tasks of a dietitian. While student confidence increased across the cohort, SBLEs were particularly beneficial in leveling confidence between those with prior clinical experience and those without.

ANALISIS KETERAMPILAN KOMUNIKASI DAN KETERAMPILAN KOLABORASI MAHASISWA PENDIDIKAN BIOLOGI

Abstract The 21 st century skills that students must have include Critical Thinking, Creativity, Communication, and Collaboration, which is often abbreviated as 4C. Communication skills orally and in writing is one of the competencies in dealing with today's life. Based on the results of observations of Biology Education students at the Muhammadiyah University of Makassar, it shows that students have not been able to communicate and collaborate well and smoothly among fellow students. The purpose of this study was to analyze collaboration skills and communication skills of Biology Education students at the University of Muhammadiyah Makassar. This type of research is Ex post Facto which will be carried out in the odd semester of 2022-2023. The instrument in this study was a questionnaire on student collaboration skills and communication skills Based on the research results found that communication skills in the good category with an average of 70.52 while collaboration skills are in the collaborative category with an average of 65.80.

NETWORKING AS ONE OF THE WAYS TO DEVELOP SOFT SKILLS OF STUDENTS

This article examines the problem of developing soft skills of students, which are important competencies that help a person to communicate better and more effectively and, in the future, to work successfully. It has been established that soft skills, for example in the field of communication, can be learned at university, but this requires modern technologies such as networking and digital networking, the effectiveness of which has been proven in developed countries of the world. The problems and basic networking skills needed by students to carry out soft communication activities are identified. The effectiveness of networking as a way to develop soft skills of students is implemented within the framework of the “Networking” development program to develop the art of communication and soft communication skills in three modules: “Forum Theater”, “Art of Self-Presentation” and “Business Games”. The carried out activities are aimed at increasing students’ levels of communication skills, communicative competence, and sociability. Its effectiveness is confirmed by the results of experimental work using three methods, as the soft communication skills of many students in the experimental group who attended a special networking course received significant development, both in relation to communication skills, as well as communicative competencies and sociability.

Project-oriented teaching during learning ukrainian as a foreign languages: development of students' communication skills

Perception of professional information is possible due to orientation to different sources that are related to foreign language learning. The study aims to determine the peculiarities of the development of communication skills of students through the use of project-oriented teaching of Ukrainian as a foreign language. Ensuring the development of the set purpose was possible due to the use of the methods of analysis, observation and estimated efficiency coefficient, effect level coefficient, Student’s coefficient. Project-oriented approaches to education, oriented to the development of communication skills were developed during the study. They were based on dubbing the disciplines in two languages, formation of theoretical language knowledge, and development of dialogue communication and writing skills. The most positive role of the selected project-oriented teaching was found using SWOT analysis. The practical significance of the work provides for the possibility of the use of developed approaches to studying Ukrainian as a foreign language for the possibility of obtaining communication skills. The perspective of the study will be oriented towards a comparison of the influence of project-oriented studying of students of different ages with consideration of their possibilities at the beginning.

Development and assessment of the STEM storytellers program

ABSTRACT We developed and tested an NSF IGE-funded year-long program to improve the oral communication skills of STEM graduate students. By the end of the program, we organized our curricular materials into a 3C framework: connect, convey, and captivate. Within this framework, the Fellows learned rhetorical strategies, created podcasts, regularly practiced improvisation, and provided each other with extensive feedback about their work. The Fellows in cohorts one and three gave public presentations followed by a question-and-answer period. Formative and summative assessments were built into the curriculum, including the use of the Public Speaking Competency Rubric (PSCR), and a calculation of jargon. Fellows also longitudinally self-reported their anxiety levels and apprehension of public speaking. The Fellows performed well according to their PSCR scores, but they also reported a slight increase in anxiety levels; the project, as well as the study, were confounded by the COVID-19 pandemic. Public audiences rated cohort three highly on all 3C items. Graduate students in STEM perform research that is of interest and significance to society, and the STEM Storytellers program helped them better translate their research to engage these broader audiences in meaningful conversation.

Development of Video Learning Materials for Asertification of Communication Skills in Students

The aim of this research is to determine the effectiveness of developing assertive learning videos for Jambi University students. The research method used in this research is the Research and Development (R&D) method. This development research uses the development method from Trollip and Allesi which centers on the use of multimedia as a learning tool. This method was chosen because it can be used as a guide for developing and testing the effectiveness of communication assertiveness learning videos for Jambi University students. The data that will be collected in this research will be quantitative and qualitative data. Quantitative data is carried out using questionnaires which will be distributed to Jambi University students. The results of the research show that the material validation of the assertive communication skills learning video for PORKES students at Jambi University obtained a percentage of around 94.30% so that it could be declared eligible in the very good category. Media validation, the percentage of appropriateness in the assertive communication skills learning video was found to be around 94% in the very good category. The percentage of Jambi University PORKES student respondents through the Field Trial showed an average percentage figure of 86% with a very high classification of interest in learning in assertive communication skills. Based on the results of research that has carried out expert and field validation trials in developing Assertive Communication Skills Learning Videos for PORKES Students at Jambi University, it can be concluded that the development of learning media in this research began by conducting a need analysis on individuals aged 18-20 year.

Current Status and Improvement Strategies for Medical Humanities Education in Medical Schools

With the increasing demand for humanistic qualities in the healthcare industry, the importance of medical humanities education in cultivating high-quality medical talents is continuously growing. Medical humanities education not only involves the study of medical knowledge but more importantly, focuses on cultivating students' compassion, ethical perspectives, communication skills, and sense of social responsibility. However, there are some challenges faced by medical schools in implementing humanities education, such as insufficient educational resources, unreasonable course settings, and a lack of effective practical teaching. In view of this, this paper aims to analyze the current status of medical humanities education and propose improvement strategies based on this analysis, in order to promote the development of medical humanities education and better meet the comprehensive quality requirements of medical talents demanded by society.

Role of the supervision of the school principal in improving the quality of learning at state elementary school’s post-pandemic COVID-19

This research aims to evaluate the role of principal supervision in improving teacher performance, identify obstacles related to academic supervision analysis, and design strategies to overcome these obstacles. This research was conducted at a public elementary school in Blora Regency. Qualitative data analysis techniques were used in this research. Sampling used purposive sampling technique. Data collection through observation and in-depth interviews. The informants taken included the Principal, Teachers, Supervisors, Chair of the School Committee, and Students. The results of the study show that academic supervision is carried out by the principles of academic supervision by going through the stages of planning, implementing, evaluating, and following up. The techniques and models of academic supervision that are applied vary according to the situation and condition of the school, as well as the principles of academic supervision that are applied. The obstacles found include the role of the principal as a supervisor who is often given additional tasks by the department, teachers as the party being supervised have various activities and competencies, as well as a lack of facilities and infrastructure. Another obstacle is the limited study time and the limited communication skills of students. Efforts have been made, among others, by rearranging schedules, involving teachers in training, allocating budgets for new facilities and infrastructure through the School Operational Assistance program, and building good cooperation with school committees.

Development of The STAD Cooperative Learning Model : Enhancing Mathematical Reasoning and Communication Skills in Higher Education

This study aims to develop the STAD cooperative learning model specifically designed for mathematics education in a higher institution to impact students' reasoning and communication skills. The study holds significance in its comprehensive analysis, encompassing (1) Plomp Stage 1 Schematic: Preliminary Study; (2) Plomp Stage 2 Schematic: Development Study; and (3) Plomp Stage 3 Schematic: Assessment Study of the developed STAD learning model. The method employed was Research and Development (R&D), utilizing questionnaires, tests, and observations as data collection techniques. The present research involved students at a university in Padangsidimpuan, North Sumatra, Indonesia. The analysis techniques used were inferential statistics and descriptive statistics. The findings indicated that: (1) The preliminary study of the model was conducted based on needs analysis incorporating the curriculum, student, and learning materials; (2) The model’s development study, encompassing six phases, yielded a significant validation result of 3.84, categorized as ‘Good’; (3) The assessment study, in terms of practicality, obtained a score of 4.60 (considered ‘Good’), and effectiveness demonstrated positive significance in affecting students' reasoning and communication skills. The overarching conclusion drawn is that the research and development of the STAD learning model revealed significant positive impacts on students' reasoning and communication skills.

Современное учебно-методическое обеспечение образовательного процесса на занятиях по иностранному языку в условиях цифровизации общества

Introduction: The article analyzes the problem associated with the emergence of digital tools in the digital era, which has led to the emergence of a new didactic tool for teachers to organize the educational process, which has improved the quality of teaching a foreign language. The purpose of the article is to assess the possibilities and ways to improve the educational process in the digital era with the help of modern educational and methodological support, including digital tools. Materials and methods of research: methods of comparison and analysis of teaching practice. The research materials were the results of a survey of foreign language teachers with experience in using digital technologies. Research results: the prospect of using modern educational and methodological support for the educational process in the era of digitalization of society is substantiated; The content of the concepts “digital educational environment”, “digital tools”, “digital technologies” and “digital educational resources” is revealed. As a result of the diagnosis, an increase in the level of development of communication skills in students was revealed on the basis of modern educational and methodological support. Discussion and conclusion: analysis of the results of the study showed a positive impact on the development of foreign language communicative competence in students. It is proposed to actively use digital tools that open wide access to high-quality educational digital content and bring the language training of future specialists in the field of intercultural contacts to a new level of quality.

Role of family communication patterns as predictors of behavioral health among students of public universities in north of Iran

BACKGROUND: Communication is one of the oldest and greatest human achievements and the basis of social life. The aim of this study was to evaluate the role of family communication patterns as predictors of behavioral health among students of public universities in the north of Iran. MATERIALS AND METHODS: In this cross-sectional study, a total of 461 students from all the public universities of Babol, Iran, were selected in 2019. A stratified sampling random method was used to select the samples. The demographic characteristics, Depression Anxiety Stress Scale, Acceptance and Action Questionnaire, Rosenberg self-esteem questionnaire, and Communication Skills Interpersonal Test were used to collect data. Simple and multi-variate linear regressions as well as Pearson’s correlation coefficient were utilized for data analysis. RESULTS: The mean and standard deviation scores of conversation orientation and conformity orientation were 35.61 ± 0.55 and 19.31 ± 0.41, respectively. Family conversation orientation was a significant predictor of behavioral health scales of students (except for acceptance and action), predicting negatively and significantly depression, anxiety, stress, and positively self-esteem and inter-personal communication skills of students. Family conformity orientation was also a significant predictor of behavioral health scales (except for inter-personal communication skills) of students, which predicted positively and significantly depression, anxiety, stress, and negatively acceptance, action, and students’ self-esteem. CONCLUSION: To prevent behavioral health problems, it is necessary to observe conformity orientation and rely on conversation orientation.

The DIR/Floortime Approach to Enhance Communication Skills of Autism Student in Inclusive Elementary Schools

This research aims to explore the DIR/Floortime approach implemented by teachers to enhance the communication abilities of children with autism in inclusive elementary schools. The type of research used is a qualitative descriptive design with a case study methode. The subjects of this study were teacher who teach achildren with autism attending an inclusive school, at Lazuardi GCS Elementary School in Depok City. The results of the research indicate that the DIR/Floortime approach carried out by teachers involves using a play-based approach conducted on the floor (floortime). This is methode provide opportunities for students to engage, enhance self-confidence, and foster a sense of blending in for children with autism with their environment.

Middle School Student's Leadership Skills and Their PE Class Participation

The research areas of physical participation (participatory discussions, sports and outdoor activities, collaborative activities) and leadership (self-confidence, communication skills, intelligence, cooperation and teamwork, decision-making skills, value formation) provide the basis for improving students' Learning efficiency and autonomy. They deepen student engagement in participatory discussions, physical and outdoor activities, and collaborative activities and increase the effectiveness of student leadership development. These areas have improved the academic standards of Nanyang middle school students, contributed to teaching input, and helped students develop classroom participation and leadership skills. This study randomly selected 568 students and analyzed the data collected using a descriptive correlational design and Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). Research results show that improving the level of participatory discussions, sports and outdoor activities, and collaborative activities can effectively promote the improvement of students' leadership levels, including self-confidence, communication skills, intelligence, cooperation and team spirit, decision-making skills, values, etc. formation, ultimately improving students’ academic performance. In order to better cultivate students' sports participation ability and leadership thinking ability, teachers must take relevant measures in teaching. For example, strengthen the cultivation of leadership skills of middle school students, focus on curriculum design, improve students' participation in physical education classes, optimize physical education courses, design rich sports projects, implement intervention projects, and improve the quality of middle school students. Leadership skills and participation levels in physical education classes are critical. Students need independent learning and leadership skills to increase their level of classroom participation. Ultimately, these strategies help students develop leadership skills, broaden their horizons, and become confident, adaptable thinkers.

Analysis of 4C Skills (Critical Thinking, Creativity and Innovation, Collaboration, and Communication) of Physics Education Students in Facing the Industrial Revolution 4.0

This study aims to analyze the 4C ability level of FKIP Jabal Ghafur University students. The subjects of this study were 42 students of the Physics education study program. This research is a qualitative research with a case study design.Data collection was carried out through observation, questionnaires and interviews. The instruments used will be prepared based on the indicators of each 4C skill. The data collected will be analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation and conclusions. The research results showstudents' critical thinking skills on indicator 1 reasoning have an achievement percentage of 34%; indicator 2 thinking as hypothesis testing has an achievement percentage of 47%; indicator 3 analyzing arguments has an achievement percentage of 49%; indicator 4 analysis of possibilities and uncertainties has a percentage of 68% and indicator 5 problem solving and decision making has a percentage of 73%. The results of students' creative and innovative thinking abilities on indicator 1 of fluency thinking skills have an achievement percentage of 28%; indicator 2 elaboration skill has an achievement percentage of 52%; indicator 3 of flexible thinking skills (flexibility) has an achievement percentage of 26%; and indicator 4 Original thinking skills (originality) has a percentage of 17%. The results of student collaboration skills in indicator 1 contributed to the percentage of achievement of 49%; indicator 2 time management has an achievement percentage of 54%; indicator 3focus on taskhas an achievement percentage of 63%; indicator 4 working with other people has a percentage of 71%; and indicator 5 responsibility has a percentage of 67%. The results of student communication skills on indicator 1 koral communication skillspercentage of achievement of 74%; and indicator 2kscientific communication skillshas an achievement percentage of 41%.

Learner’s perspectives and outcomes of peer role play as a teaching learning method for prescription communication skills in second year medical students at a tertiary teaching hospital in India

Background: Medical education in India is experiencing a positive shift from traditional curriculum to competency-based medical education. Among the different initiatives, inclusion of role-play with specific aim of improving prescription communication skills in the current curriculum, could lead to beneficial patient- response outcomes. This study aims to evaluate the undergraduate medical student’s perspectives on implementing role-play for learning about prescription communication. Methods: This was a cross-sectional observational study conducted in the department of pharmacology involving second-year medical students of Vydehi institute of medical science and research centre participating for a month-long duration. An internally validated questionnaire was used to assess students’ perspectives on role-play in prescription communication. The outcome was evaluated based on students’ performance in prescription writing and appropriate communication before and after the role-play session. The data obtained was analysed using the SPSS software. Results: The mean score for the overall benefit of role play for prescription communication for all responding participants (n=163) was 4.2 out of 5. In this study, 89.4% of students agreed that role-play in prescription communication should be an essential aspect of their training in the curriculum and is worth taking this additional effort. 84.6% of students found that, the sessions helped to understand and share the pharmacology concepts better. Mean pre and post role play prescription writing assessment scores in students was 7.59 and 9.01 out of 10 respectively. Conclusions: Role-play was well received by the students as a low-cost innovative teaching methodology for better understanding of Pharmacology concepts as mandated by the CBME curriculum. It helps in understanding the importance of teamwork and error-free prescription communication for future clinical practice. Overall, following appropriate demonstration, use of role-play showed significant improvement in student performance in prescription communication.
