ABSTRACT Addressing the scarcity of research on the growth mechanisms of China’s globally leading New Energy Vehicle (NEV) firms, this study transcends static factor analysis by proposing and empirically testing a four-dimensional dynamic synergy framework that integrates driving, strategic, organizational, and innovation mechanisms. Employing Structural Equation Modelling and a case study of Changan Auto, our findings reveal a co-evolutionary path: the driving mechanism indirectly enables innovation via strategic and organizational mechanisms, while the latter two directly empower firm growth. This research offers a mechanism-based explanation for how latecomer firms can overcome the ‘large but not strong’ predicament.

ABSTRACT This study explores the key drivers of digital transformation (DT) and their impact on digital service innovation (DSIN) and sustainable competitive advantage among online retailers in China. Integrating organizational ambidexterity theory with the technology-organization-environment framework, data from 388 survey responses were analysed using SPSS and AMOS. Results show that digital infrastructure, technological capability, customer tech savviness, and competitive pressure positively influence DT. DT enhances exploitation and exploration, which contribute to competitive advantage. Additionally, customer and cross-functional coordination moderate these effects, emphasizing the need for alignment in digital initiatives. Findings offer strategic insights for advancing digital innovation in the retail sector.

ABSTRACT This paper selects two manufacturing enterprises that have undergone digital servtization as case studies. Using the ‘Situational force-Triggering force-Enabling force’ organizational change model framework, the paper identifies the motivation factors for manufacturing enterprises’ digital servitization transformation. It found that the situational forces composed of external and internal environmental factors, the triggering forces composed of enterprise development factors and servitization dilemma factors, and the enabling forces composed of organizational capacity, corporate culture, and leader cognition are the main dynamic forces of digital servitization. On this basis, the dynamic mechanism of enterprise digital servitization transformation was constructed.

ABSTRACT Grounded in the resource caravan perspective of conservation of resources theory, this study examines how mindfulness shapes job embeddedness and career satisfaction through the sequential mechanisms of resilience and career adaptability. Data were collected from 247 full-time employees in Thailand, and hypotheses were tested using structural equation modelling with bootstrapping procedures. Results demonstrate that resilience and career adaptability jointly mediate the link between mindfulness and both job embeddedness and career satisfaction. These findings extend organizational and managerial literature by clarifying mindfulness as a psychological resource, validating conservation of resources theory, and situating these dynamics within the career adaptability framework.

ABSTRACT Drawing on the proactive motivation model, this study investigates how the implementation of high-performance work systems (HPWS) influences employees’ proactive career behaviours. Using matched data from 86 supervisors and 503 employees across 67 companies in China, the cross-level regression analyses reveal the following findings: (1) There is a difference but a strong positive correlation between organization-implemented HPWS and employee-perceived HPWS; (2) Employee-perceived HPWS enhance proactive career behaviour through the mediating effect of psychological availability; (3) Supervisor mentoring behaviour moderates the positive relationship between organization-implemented HPWS and employee-perceived HPWS; and (4) Supervisor mentoring behaviour also moderates the positive relationship between employee-perceived HPWS and psychological availability.

ABSTRACT Despite a growing body of research on Digital Transformation, the processes and mechanisms needed to sustain its performance and effectively coordinate human with emerging technologies (such as artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics) remain underexplored. Drawing on an in-depth case study of HotelCo, a globally renowned Chinese hospitality firm, this study examined a successful Digital Transformation journey that enabled the firm to thrive through a digitally adapted model in China. By revealing three interconnected mechanisms and their outcomes, this research contributes to the Digital Transformation and business model innovation literature while offering practical insights for hospitality firms to navigate the Digital Transformation process.

ABSTRACT Generative artificial intelligence is an emerging tool with immense creative potential. Organizations actively respond to the technological beckoning of AI and widely embrace GAI technology. Using the relative deprivation theory, we have constructed a chained mediation model to explore how and when GAI-based job crafting may undermine employee creativity in China. In a three-wave field survey study of 236 employees, we found that GAI-based job crafting has a positive effect on employees’ relative derivation, and attitudes towards AI application at work negatively moderates the relationship. Furthermore, employees’ relative derivation and negative work emotion serially mediate the relationship between GAI-based job crafting and employee creativity.
