The objective of this study was to determine the consumer profile and its influence on the local sustainability of businesses at the Sauces IX Market. The research was conducted using a qualitative-quantitative approach, with a descriptive-correlational scope and a non-experimental cross-sectional design, through the administration of surveys to consumers and interviews with merchants. The results identified relevant characteristics of the consumer profile, highlighting a young adult consumer of middle socioeconomic status, with a high school education, primarily employed as a worker. This consumer is health-conscious, prefers fresh products, and values quality, variety, and the service received; furthermore, frequent purchasing habits and a close relationship with merchants were evident. The correlational analysis determined the existence of a relationship between the consumer profile and business sustainability, albeit a weak one, with psychographic and behavioral factors having a greater influence. Opportunities for improvement were also identified, such as market safety and sustainable practices. In this regard, understanding the consumer profile, as well as their habits, characteristics, and motivations, allowed for a better understanding of their behavior and enabled the adjustment of offerings to align with what customers demanded in the market.

The present study aimed to assess the contribution of Dr. C. Manuel Eduardo Cortés Cortés to the teaching of Applied Mathematics in Cuban Higher Education, considering his influence on professional training and the scientific-methodological development in the province of Cienfuegos. The research was conducted from a qualitative approach, grounded in the dialectical-materialist method and employing the systematization of experiences as the main methodological strategy. This approach allowed for a critical reconstruction and analysis of Dr. Cortés’s professional trajectory between 1971 and 2000. Data collection was carried out through documentary analysis of publications and teaching materials, semi-structured interviews with colleagues and students, review of institutional archives, and indirect observation, prioritizing the authenticity and historical relevance of the sources. The findings indicate that Dr. Cortés’s educational work was characterized by a continuous integration of theory, practice, and research, facilitating the alignment of teaching with the productive and social needs of the region. His contributions in mathematical modeling, operations research, and applied computing enabled the resolution of real industrial problems and the incorporation of technological experiences into the university curriculum. The systematization revealed that his career not only produced formal knowledge but also constitutes a methodological and pedagogical reference for Higher Education, promoting critical reflection on teaching practice and the development of contextualized educational proposals. In this sense, the study underscores the importance of valuing significant teaching experiences as a source of innovation and continuous improvement.

This study analyzes the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and innovative behavior in medium and large-sized firms based in the province of El Oro, Ecuador, within a subnational context characterized by sectoral heterogeneity, technological differences, and structural constraints that significantly influence business innovation processes. Despite the relevance of this environment, there is limited availability of empirical evidence from official microdata sources to support standardized measurement and modeling methods. The research is based on a representative sample of 184 firms, on which a beta regression model and an ordinary least squares specification were applied to compare the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and innovative behavior within an inference framework suitable for a bounded continuous dependent variable. The results show that innovativeness, proactiveness, and competitive aggressiveness are positively and statistically significantly related to innovative behavior, whereas risk-taking has a limited influence in the analyzed context. More specifically, the findings indicate that business innovation in the province of El Oro is primarily associated with strategic anticipation and competitive capability rather than with risk propensity, which has important implications for business management and for the design of public policies aimed at strengthening innovation, considering sectoral characteristics and firm size.

Lichen planus (LP) is a chronic inflammatory disease of unknown etiology that affects the skin, mucous membranes, and adnexa, presenting in diverse clinical variants that complicate diagnosis and treatment. While the classic form is characterized by pruritic, violaceous papules with Wickham’s striae, rare variants such as pigmentary, inverse, linear, annular atrophic, and pemphigoid LP exhibit heterogeneous manifestations and often resist conventional therapy. These uncommon forms may be associated with viral infections, autoimmune diseases, or medications, further complicating clinical management. Accurate identification and characterization of each variant are essential for effective diagnosis and treatment, with histological evaluation playing a crucial role when dermatoscopic criteria are insufficient. Available treatments include topical and systemic corticosteroids, calcineurin inhibitors, phototherapy, and retinoids, with variable outcomes depending on the clinical presentation. Additionally, LP significantly impacts patients’ emotional well-being, causing anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, and social difficulties due to visible skin and mucosal changes. Despite current knowledge, rare variants remain a clinical challenge, highlighting the need for ongoing research into new therapeutic strategies and the development of advanced diagnostic tools, such as imaging techniques and specific biomarkers. An integrated approach combining specialized treatment and psychological support is essential to improve the quality of life for patients living with this chronic, complex, and recurrent disease.

This study analyzes the relationship between circular economy and tourism service quality in Latin American companies through a mixed descriptive-correlational approach. We reviewed 127 scientific documents, conducted 30 interviews with business executives, and applied 412 questionnaires to tourists from Mexico, Costa Rica, Colombia, Peru, Brazil, and Argentina. Results reveal that companies with circular practices achieve superior scores across all service quality dimensions, with an average difference of 0.48 points (1-7 scale) compared to traditional companies. Most implemented practices include waste management (83.3%), water conservation (76.7%), and energy efficiency (70.0%). Significant positive correlations were identified between circular practices and quality dimensions, highlighting environmental responsibility (r=0.742) and empathy (r=0.689). 67.2% of tourists show willingness to pay a 5-20% premium for sustainable services. Findings demonstrate that circular economy not only responds to environmental imperatives but constitutes a competitive differentiation strategy that improves quality perception and generates additional economic value in Latin American tourism.

Comprehensive General Medicine focuses on improving the health of the population through integrated practices. Prescribing physical exercise is key to this approach. This study, conducted from this perspective, establishes the importance of exercise as a professional necessity for family doctors, considering its impact on public health. The literature and clinical experiences were analyzed, identifying the benefits of exercise in the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases. Specialists are urged to be agents of change, fostering healthy habits and promoting exercise as a cornerstone of preventive healthcare.

Modern agriculture faces significant challenges, such as biodiversity loss, soil and water pollution, and deforestation. In this regard, agroecology stands out as a valuable alternative for achieving sustainable transformation. The research was carried out on the “La Guanábana” farm in the municipality of Cienfuegos, Cuba, between November 2024 and April 2025. The objective is to propose innovative actions that guarantee the agroecological transition towards sustainable local development in accordance with the objectives approved in the current legislation on the “El Roble” farm from a strategic perspective. Theoretical and empirical methods were used: historical-logical, inductive-deductive, analysis-synthesis and direct observation, document review, informal interviews, calculation of biodiversity indices and application of the TAPE tool, analysis of the internal and external environment and derived matrices. Among the main results, a value of 44.6% was obtained in the evaluation as an agroecological farm. The strengths include the experience of the workers, while the main weakness lies in the low cultural level and aging of the workforce. The proposed actions to strengthen the agroecological transition and sustainability on the farm respond to the current context.

This article analyzes, from a normative and doctrinal perspective, the effects generated by the lack of harmonization between the Código Orgánico Administrativo (Administrative Organic Code) and the Código Orgánico General de Procesos (General Organic Code of Procedures) regarding the certification and materialization of electronic public instruments in Ecuador, and its impact on their legal validity, evidentiary effectiveness, and application within judicial proceedings. The study employs a qualitative approach supported by analytical–synthetic, exegetical, hermeneutical, and comparative methods, which make it possible to interpret the scope of the applicable regulations and examine the tensions arising from divergent criteria on certification authority and the need for materializing electronic documents. The findings reveal that such normative disarticulation creates legal uncertainty, limits institutional interoperability, and restricts the evidentiary effectiveness of electronic public instruments in judicial contexts. Furthermore, various international regulatory developments highlight the importance of adopting principles of functional equivalence, coherent regulatory frameworks, and uniform technological standards to ensure the secure, effective, and adequate use of electronic documents within justice systems. The study concludes that strengthening normative coherence is essential to guarantee efficient and legally reliable electronic document management in Ecuador’s judicial sphere.

Family economics is a central element in building individual, family, and social well-being, as it determines households’ capacity to meet basic needs, ensure education and health, and generate opportunities for sustainable development. This study, conducted in Machala and the parish of La Peaña in the canton of Pasaje, Ecuador, addresses challenges related to insufficient income, inefficient resource management, lack of savings habits, and the absence of financial planning in Ecuadorian households. Through a qualitative and applied approach, a financial education training program was implemented, structured into three modules: family financial planning, fundamental financial concepts, and household financial products. The methodology combined theoretical-practical workshops, interactive activities, simulations, and personalized follow-up, promoting active participation of household members and the use of technological tools. Results showed that training in budget preparation, expense control, savings, prioritization of needs, and long-term planning strengthens financial autonomy, encourages responsible economic decisions, and reduces vulnerabilities. Additionally, collective financial education, income diversification, and debt restructuring were highlighted as key strategies to ensure economic stability and build family assets. The study concludes that applying these strategies transforms available resources into tangible and sustainable well-being, consolidates a culture of financial responsibility, and projects family welfare into the future, with positive impacts on community economy and the quality of life of participating households.
