Habitus Digital dalam Transformasi UMKM Produk Olahan Pangan di Perdesaan: Studi Kasus Paguyuban Kediri Young Entrepreneur (KYE)
  • Mar 9, 2026
  • Journal of Social Development Studies
  • Moh Hamzah Fansuri + 2 more

This study explores the digital transformation practices of rural micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) food processing products associated with the Kediri Young Entrepreneur (KYE) Association. This study investigates how MSME practitioners integrate digital technologies at both the micro and macro levels. For example, they use instant messaging apps to coordinate and make group decisions, social media sites to create content, build brands, and gain market visibility through algorithms, e-marketplaces to make transactions easier and grow the market, and digital payment systems to connect operations. Drawing on Pierre Bourdieu’s practice theory, this qualitative interpretive study analyzes how digitalization intersects with structure and agency and how social networks emerge among actors in rural MSME food-processing product production. This study reveals several important finding: (1) digital habitus is formed through an integrated, evolving structure in which repeated digital practices become internalized dispositions; (2) there is a symbolic struggle in the form of a struggle for power over digital technology capabilities among MSME food processing products actors; (3) strategic mobilization in the form of economic, social, cultural and symbolic capital to gain legitimacy, strengthen capital and competitive advantage. This study concludes that digital transformation, showed up in regular digital coordination, platform-based marketing, marketplace integration, and digital money management, is not merely a technical shift but also a social transformation reflecting the cultural tendencies, power structures, and strategic actions actors in MSME food processing product markets, where the KYE Association serves as an arena that bridges collective traditions with digital innovation

  • Feb 18, 2026
  • Journal of Social Development Studies
  • Segun Oderinde + 3 more

The paper examines the implications of subsidy removal on living standards of low-income households in Osun state, Nigeria by looking at what may be done to lessen the hurts and shocks brought on by fuel subsidy removal. The study used a descriptive research design. With the aid of questionnaire, a sample size of 500 respondents spread over all the thirty local governments in the State was used for data collection. Bar charts, pie charts and frequency tables were used to analyse the data collected. The finding shows that the removal of fuel subsidies has raised the cost of food as well as the costs of other goods, including the high cost of transportation. This has led many low-income households in the State to experiencing pain and hardship. The study therefore concludes that, if the removal of fuel subsidy will not push many people further into poverty, Nigeria government should provide necessary measures that will help in ameliorating the shocks and pains caused by the removal of fuel subsidy.

Diskursus Alternatif Hak Kesehatan Menstruasi: Menganalisa Keterlibatan Biyung Indonesia dalam Permasalahan Kemiskinan Menstruasi melalui Advokasi Pembalut Kain
  • Nov 21, 2025
  • Journal of Social Development Studies
  • Salsabila Laily Maulina + 1 more

Kata kunci: Advokasi Perempuan; Kemiskinan Menstruasi; Hak Kesehatan Menstruasi; Diskursus Abstract This study analyzes the discourse surrounding menstruation in society through the lens of Michel Foucault's theories on power, discourse, and knowledge. Using a case study method, the research explores how Biyung Indonesia constructs an alternative discourse to challenge the dominance of mainstream narratives. Mainstream discourse often stigmatizes menstruation as taboo, limiting open conversation and perpetuating practices that neglect women's health rights. This is reinforced by state policies and industry control, which tend to prioritize disposable pads while overlooking more sustainable alternatives. In response, Biyung Indonesia challenges this dominant narrative by advocating for open dialogue, promoting menstrual health education, and championing cloth pads as an environmentally friendly solution. The discourse on menstruation is crucial for advancing gender equality, health rights, and environmental sustainability, making it a vital issue in social development. This research fills a gap in the literature by examining how grassroots movements like Biyung Indonesia can foster policy changes that are more responsive to women’s needs. Dinamika Transformasi Sosial dan Budaya di Desa Rawak Hulu dan Rawak Hilir: Dari Etnosentrisme ke Multikulturalisme
  • Nov 21, 2025
  • Journal of Social Development Studies
  • Arjun Wahyudi + 2 more

Abstract This study examines the socio-cultural transformation of Rawak Hulu and Rawak Hilir villages in the Sekadau Hulu District, West Kalimantan, focusing on the shift from ethnocentrism to multiculturalism. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. The findings indicate that multicultural education and intercultural interaction are the main drivers of this transformation. Education plays an active role in fostering inclusive values and deconstructing long-standing prejudices, while social interactions strengthen cohesion between the Malay and Chinese communities. Increasing social awareness and broader access to education have further promoted the adoption of inclusive values, leading to the development of a harmonious multicultural environment. However, challenges remain, particularly during political periods that may reignite ethnic sentiments, suggesting that multiculturalism is a dynamic process requiring ongoing maintenance. This study contributes to the broader understanding of social change in rural Indonesia and highlights the importance of policies that promote cultural integration and multicultural education to strengthen social cohesion in ethnically diverse communities. Key words: Ethnocentrism; Multiculturalism; Sociocultural Change; Education.

This study investigates the contribution of the Mirt Improved Cookstove (ICS) on women's empowerment in Gedeb Asassa woreda, focusing on the role of RBF in promoting sustainable cooking technologies. Data from household surveys, focus group discussions, and key informant interviews were analyzed using STATA version 18. The findings demonstrate significant improvements in women's human, financial, social, physical, and natural assets due to ICS adoption. The Mirt stove reduced women's workload, improved health by offering a safer cooking environment, and enhanced economic stability by lowering cooking time and fuel costs. The stove also contributed to environmental sustainability by reducing fuelwood consumption, helping mitigate deforestation. Additionally, the Mirt stove allowed women more time for income-generating activities, improving household income and resource allocation. Factors such as family size, farm land size, proximity to forests, and fuel expenditure were key in influencing ICS adoption. The study underscores the importance of coordinated efforts between government bodies, stakeholders, and local communities to optimize ICS technology dissemination, further empowering women. The Mirt stove serves as a model for future sustainable development initiatives aimed at improving both women's well-being and environmental conservation.

Keadilan Ekologis dari Hulu ke Hilir: Sinergi Multipihak dalam Tata Kelola Air Berbasis Quintuple Helix
  • Jul 4, 2025
  • Journal of Social Development Studies
  • Aulia Widya Sakina + 3 more

Kata kunci: QHI, Tata Kelola Air, Bank Air Bersih, Pembangunan Berkelanjutan Abstract The increasing demand for clean water in Magelang Regency necessitates an inclusive and sustainable governance model. This study aims to examine the Quintuple Helix Innovation (QHI) model in community-based clean water bank management on the slopes of Mount Sumbing by mapping the roles and synergy of five key actors: government, academia, business/industry (DUDI), community, and the environment. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. The findings reveal that QHI improves water distribution efficiency, strengthens local institutions, and fosters ecological awareness. Koperasi Darmowarih Tirtolestari serves as the central actor in managing the water bank, supported by the synergy among government, academia, business actors, and the local community. The environment is not merely an object of conservation but also a space for knowledge and innovation production. While the model creates a collaborative and efficient governance system, structural challenges such as weak policy replication, limited human resource capacity, and power relations in water governance highlight the need for institutional reform and strong political-economic commitment to realize ecological justice and social transformation. Perubahan Kebijakan Sosial dan Respon Aktor: Studi Kasus Tata Kelola Pasca Pengesahan Undang-Undang Tindak Pidana Kekerasan Seksual di Yogyakarta
  • Jun 16, 2025
  • Journal of Social Development Studies
  • Sri Harjanto Adi Pamungkas + 4 more

Kata kunci: Kebijakan Sosial; Studi Gender; Perubahan Kebijakan; Implementasi Kebijakan Abstract The enactment of Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning Criminal Acts of Sexual Violence (UU TPKS) is a new chapter in the governance of policies to eradicate sexual violence. Several studies have been conducted related to the UU TPKS and are dominated by 4 main topics: studies on the substance of the TPKS Law; legal reviews of the TPKS Law; the political process behind UU TPKS and the implementation of UU TPKS. Meanwhile, there is still few studies that try to analyze the TPKS Law from the perspective of policy change. Specifically, studies on the governance of policy change and the response of street-level bureaucracy (frontliner unit in policy implementation) actors to policy change. Studies from the perspective of policy change are important to understand the dynamics of the process towards change and the dynamics of the implementation of policy change. This can enrich academic discourse on social policy change and contribute practically in providing policy analysis for more effective implementation of change. This study attempts to fill this research gap by examining the governance of policy change in the UU TPKS in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY). The research was designed as a case study at the Women's Empowerment, Child Protection, Population Control, and Family Planning Service (DP3AP2KB) and the Regional Police (Polda DIY). The data collection method is carried out through interviews and supported by relevant secondary data. Data analysis method used in this study is the spiral data analysis technique. This study found that in general the governance of the implementation of policy change and the response of street-level bureaucracy actors related to the UU TPKS in DIY experienced success in the resilient success category.
