The University as a Space for Developing Social Competence: Dimensions of Student Development and SWOT Analysis
  • Dec 1, 2025
  • EcoSoEn
  • Natalia Musienco + 1 more

In a rapidly changing social and educational context, the development of social competences has become essential for students' adaptation and professional integration. The purpose of this study was to examine the level of social competence among university students by assessing four key dimensions: social-cognitive abilities, communication skills, group relationship competences, and socioemotional regulation. The research was conducted on a sample of 328 students, using psychometrically validated questionnaires and inferential statistical methods. The results indicate a generally balanced level of social competences, with most students demonstrating adequate abilities in interaction, communication, emotional self-control, and social adaptability. However, several vulnerabilities were identified, including emotional instability, difficulties in conflict management, tendencies toward overestimation or underestimation of personal abilities, and increased social conformity. The SWOT analysis facilitated a structured identification of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and risks influencing the development of social competences within the university environment. The study highlights the importance of an integrated educational approach that includes practical and experiential activities, psychological counseling, socio-emotional training programs, and curriculum adaptation to the specific needs of each field of study. The conclusions support the role of the university as a fundamental context for fostering social competence and preparing students for successful integration into a complex and dynamic socio-professional environment.

  • Iulia Sirota + 1 more

The third sector organizations are non-profit organizations who act in a wide variety of fields like arts, sports, religion, politics, research, charity to the needy, helping some specific populations. It is complicated to define a quality of performance for a non-profit organization and to decide what is effectiveness in such an organization, however the public, contributors and governments do demand to evaluate performances and achievements of non-profit organizations, in order to solve social problems. The demand comes from the public sector managers who feel frustrated since they cannot make a real change in spite of the efforts invested. Although it is agreed among the professionals that performance evaluation is a must in order to check out the general situation of an organization and maintain a decision-making process, there is a plenty and non-uniform group of evaluation parameters. The non-uniformity is especially prominent when there is a try to evaluate the organization outcomes, and there is a variety of terms and key words, like outcomes results, impact, outputs, third sector and more. Like the business sector, in the non-profit one also the researchers try to answer the question what are the factors of improving the organization's chances to succeed. Some claim that the success factors of non-profit organizations are very similar to the ones of the business companies. This study examines employee participation in decision-making processes within Israeli Community Centers, focusing on potential differences between male and female employees and between Jewish and Arab employees. A quantitative survey was conducted among 66 employees working in Community Centers, using standardized questionnaires on decision-making participation and perceived importance of work planning. The results show high levels of decision-sharing across all respondents and no statistically significant differences between genders or between the two ethnic groups. This research concentrates on decision making in Israeli community centers and differences between males and female employees and Jewish and Arab ones.

Free Association Analysis as a Practical Tool for Understanding the Image of the Psychotherapist
  • Dec 1, 2025
  • EcoSoEn
  • Narcisa Gianina Caranfil + 1 more

This article presents an applied analysis of the social representation of the psychotherapist, employing the free-association method within an empirical investigation conducted on a sample of 120 participants. The study aims to reveal the deep structural organization of the psychotherapist's image in the general population by examining the frequency, ranking, and connotation of the evoked terms. The methodological approach relies on the distribution of elements into quadrants derived from Abric's Central Core Theory, distinguishing between the normal notation zone and the substitution zone. The findings indicate a predominantly positive representation, in which the psychotherapist is associated with help, professionalism, active listening, and emotional support. At the same time, the results highlight certain ambiguities concerning the therapist's role, competencies, and professional boundaries. The article underscores the relevance of the free-association technique in identifying social representations that can inform psychological practice and the training of future psychotherapists, emphasizing the critical role of social perceptions in shaping the therapeutic relationship.

Inclusion Strategies for Parents of Children with Disabilities: From Stigma to Participation
  • Dec 1, 2025
  • EcoSoEn
  • Svetlana Haraz

The phenomenon of non-acceptance of persons with disabilities - manifested through intolerance, marginalization, and social exclusion - has been extensively examined in studies addressing attitudes toward marginalized groups. However, there remains a notable lack of research exploring social distance toward families raising children with disabilities. Traditional perceptions of disability mark these individuals as "different", requiring deliberate efforts of understanding and inclusion. Low levels of tolerance and awareness generate not only external exclusion but also self-exclusion among families, exacerbated by socioeconomic disadvantages and by parents' withdrawal from employment to provide care. Experiences of shame, guilt, and social rejection further reinforce their retreat from public life. In this context, supportive interventions remain limited in both implementation and impact assessment. This study proposes an intervention program focused on assertive communication and parental resilience, demonstrating its effectiveness in reducing self-isolation and facilitating the social inclusion of both parents and their children.

In the context of financial crisis, young people are eager to leave the country throughout the Balticum, which has become a notable problem especially in the last decade. According to statistics (Leino, Dislere, MerfeldaitÄ—, PivorienÄ— and RailienÄ—, 2023), a significant number of young adults are not satisfied with their study and/or job possibilities, nor with their living conditions and financial security. As one solution, this age group is ready to emigrate, which creates a problematic situation from the state's point of view. For this article, the empirical data come from research on young Estonian adults who left the country during recent years (Toomistu, Annist and Murakas, 2023). The aim of that research was to identify the reasons for leaving and the aspects that could potentially encourage young people to return to their home country. Based on these data, I conducted a content analysis in order to clarify the role of emotional aspects and to outline what could be done from the perspective of the state. The theoretical background here comes from Allardt (1993) and from social pedagogy

  • Ecaterina Popa + 1 more

This paper examines victimization trends in Romania between 2015 and 2025, highlighting the crime categories that have registered increases or declines and assessing their impact on both the population and institutional structures. The study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative and qualitative techniques, and draws on official data provided by the Romanian Police, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, DIICOT, and the National Council for Combating Discrimination (CNCD), supplemented by media sources and academic research. The analysis reveals a marked rise in cybercrime and economic crime, alongside a decline in traditional violent offenses such as homicide and physical assault. Furthermore, the research identifies victimization patterns among minority groups, the emergence of new forms of online abuse, and regional disparities in exposure to risk.
