Catalogue of type specimens of the families Ceraphronidae, Platygastridae, Proctotrupidae and Scelionidae (Hymenoptera) deposited in the National Museum of the Czech Republic

Type specimens from the Hymenoptera collection deposited in the Department of Entomology, National Museum of the Czech Republic are currently being catalogued. In this part of the catalogue, we deal with the families Ceraphronidae, Platygastridae, Proctotrupi- dae and Scelionidae. We present precise information about the 28 species belonging to the families Ceraphronidae (three species), Platygastridae (three species), Proctotrupidae (two species) and Scelionidae (20 species), including six holotype specimens. For each species, we give the current status, distribution, and photographs, with many of these images being published here for the first time. In addition, two paratype specimens previously assigned to Ceratoteleia leucosia Nixon, 1931 and Paratrimorus pinguis Nixon, 1933 are herein revised and the species are transferred to the genera Dicroscelio Kieffer, 1913 and Psilanteris Kieffer, 1916, respectively, resulting in the following new combinations – Dicroscelio leucosia (Nixon, 1931) comb. nov. and Psilanteris pinguis (Nixon, 1933) comb. nov.

Cornutidrymus, an interesting new genus of Papuan Drymini (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Rhyparochromidae)

Cornutidrymus gen. nov. (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Lygaeoidea: Rhyparochromidae: Rhyparochrominae: Drymini) is described from New Guinea with four new species (C. elongatus sp. nov. [type species], C. acutus sp. nov., C. gibbosus sp. nov. and C. latus sp. nov.). The systematic placement and the relationships with the similar genera are discussed. An identification key for the species of the new genus is provided.

Abstracts of the Immature Beetles Meeting 2025 October 2–3, Prague, Czech Republic

ng diverse topics related to beetle larvae, including morphology, larval biology, phylogeny, and systematics. The beetle families represented in the talks included Agyrtidae, Cerambycidae, Coccinellidae, Curculionidae, Elateridae, Leiodidae, Scarabaeidae, Staphylinidae, and Tenebrionidae, as well as the related sister order Strepsiptera. Compared with previous years, the 2025 IBM also featured some innovative and unconventional topics. Presentations ranged from a historical overview of IBM meetings, through records of scarabaeoid larval stridulation and observations of parasitic groups such as Strepsiptera and Asilidae, to biological studies of longhorn beetles and the extraordinary super glue discovered in ladybird beetles.

Species of the genera Acompomintho and Tricogena (Diptera: Calliphoridae: Rhinophorinae), and their phylogenetic position based on molecular and morphological data

Acompomintho carmanica Ziegler sp. nov. from Iran and Acompomintho gavryushini Ziegler sp. nov. from Kazakhstan are described, illustrated and compared with the other known species of the genus. The male of Acompomintho sinensis (Villeneuve, 1936) is described and illustrated for the first time, and Acompomintho lobata Villeneuve, 1927 is re-described. The following new combinations are proposed: Tricogena caucasica (Villeneuve, 1908) comb. nov. [transferred from Acompomintho] and Tricogena grandiloba (Kugler, 1978) comb. nov. [transferred from Oplisa]. Tricogena caucasica and Tricogena rubricosa (Meigen, 1824) are re-described and illustrated. Keys to the species of Acompomintho and Tricogena are provided, and the delimitation of these genera is redefined. Additions to the key to the world genera of Rhinophorinae of Cerretti et al. (2020) are given, which allows identification of the redefined genera Acompomintho and Tricogena. The following new country records are also listed: Oplisa oldenbergi Herting, 1961 and Tricogena caucasica (Villeneuve, 1908) from Armenia, Oplisa nudiseta Zeegers, 2011, Paykullia nubilipennis (Loew, 1847), and Tromodesia vibripennis Rondani, 1862, from Greece, Acompomintho sinensis (Villeneuve, 1936), Stevenia fausti (Portschinsky, 1875), and Tricogena caucasica (Villeneuve, 1908) from Iran, and Tromodesia setiventris (Rohdendorf, 1935) from Kyrgyzstan. The phylogenetic relationships within the subfamily Rhinophorinae have been reconstructed. The results are based on BI and RAxML analyses. The Rhinophorinae appear with strong support as a monophyletic group, as do the two tribes Phytonini and Rhinophorini. All non-monotypic genera examined with more than one species included Acompomintho Villeneuve, 1927, Phyto Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830, Tromodesia Rondani, 1856, Paykullia Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830, Oplisa Rondani, 1862, Tricogena Rondani, 1856, and Stevenia Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830, proved to be monophyletic with strong support. The genera in question, Acompomintho and Tricogena, together with the genera Azaisia Villeneuve, 1939, Oplisa, Rhinomorinia Brauer & Bergenstamm, 1889, and Stevenia, come out in the Rhinophorini branch and are genetically and morphologically a very well-founded monophylum. The genus Acompomintho is probably a sister group of Stevenia, and the sister group of these two is Tricogena.

Three new genera and nine new species – just a fragment of the Afrotropical fauna of Anthomyzidae (Diptera)

The fauna of Afrotropical Anthomyzidae (Diptera) is enriched by three new genera and nine new species, viz., Durantha gen. nov., D. dura sp. nov. (type species; Tanzania, Kenya), D. freidbergi sp. nov. (Ethiopia); Pectarista gen. nov., P. grandiloba sp. nov. (type species; Cameroon), P. curta sp. nov. (Cameroon), P. planta sp. nov. (Kenya); Virgatomyza gen. nov., V. helvior sp. nov. (type species; Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania), V. bivirgata sp. nov. (Ethiopia), V. discolor sp. nov. (Kenya) and V. dissimilis sp. nov. (Ethiopia). All these taxa are described and illustrated in detail and their relationships are discussed. Durantha gen. nov. is affiliated with the Amygdalops group of genera, Pectarista gen. nov. with the Barbarista group of genera and Virgatomyza gen. nov. is the first Afrotropical representative of the Anthomyza group of genera. A new key to Afrotropical genera of Anthomyzidae and keys to the identification of Pectarista and Virgatomyza species are given. Sexual dichroism of the fore leg of Pectarista species is described for the first time in the family. The female internal genitalia of Pectarista grandiloba everted after oviposition are described and illustrated. Diversity of Afrotropical Anthomyzidae is discussed.

A new species of the genus Sphedanolestes (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Reduviidae) from Xizang Autonomous Region, China, with an updated key to Chinese species

Sphedanolestes jilongensis Y. Liu, P. Zhao & W. Cai sp. nov. is described based on macropterous male and female specimens collected from Jilong County, Rikaze City, Xizang Autonomous Region, China, and compared with related species within the genus. Habitus images and figures of the male genitalia are provided. An updated key to Sphedanolestes species from China, totalling 18 as recognised in the present study, together with habitus images of all species are given.

A new species of Strepsiptera, Brasixenos mikati sp. nov. (Xenidae), a parasite of the highly advanced eusocial wasp Agelaia myrmecophila (Hymenoptera: Vespidae: Epiponini)

Brasixenos mikati Benda & Straka sp. nov., a new species of Strepsiptera of the genus Brasixenos Kogan & Oliveira, 1966 (Xenidae) from southern Guatemala, is described based on the female cephalothorax, male cephalotheca and the first instar larvae. It represents the first species described from the swarm-founding wasp of the genus Agelaia Lepeletier, 1836 (Hymenoptera: Vespidae: Epiponini). A total of 164 individuals of Agelaia myrmecophila (Ducke, 1905) were collected during flying out from a single nest. Of the total number of emerging wasps, 13% (21 individuals) were parasitised. Diagnoses and descriptions of the female cephalothorax, male cephalotheca, and the first instar larvae are presented, and identification based on external morphology is discussed.

The cleptoparasitic bee genus Euaspis in Vietnam (Hymenoptera: Megachilidae)

The cleptoparasitic bee genus Euaspis Gerstäcker, 1858 is reviewed from Vietnam, with four species recognized. A new species, Euaspis flavorotundata Tran & Engel sp. nov. from Northern and Central Highlands, Vietnam is described and figured. The distribution area of E. aequicarinata Pasteels, 1980 and E. polynesia Vachal, 1903 in the country is updated. Notes on the female morphology variation of E. diversicarinata Pasteels, 1980 are provided along with an illustrated key to Euaspis species from Vietnam.

The oldest known fossil imago of Ameletopsidae (Ephemeroptera) from 99-million-year-old Kachin amber

A new fossil genus and species of the mayfly family Ameletopsidae, Paprika atsukochibae gen. & sp. nov., is described from mid-Cretaceous Kachin amber of northern Myanmar. The specimen represents a female imago and constitutes the oldest known imaginal fossil of the family. Paprika gen. nov. exhibits a unique combination of the characters in wing venation that distinguish it from both extant and extinct Ameletopsidae. Although the new genus is assigned to Ameletopsidae based on imaginal morphological characters, it cannot be placed within the existing subfamilies due to the absence of male or caudal appendage characters. This discovery represents the oldest imaginal Ameletopsidae fossil discovered so far and provides the first fossil record of the family in Asia. The finding supports a broader, possibly Pangean, distribution and origin of Ameletopsidae during the Mesozoic and contributes to the understanding of the evolutionary history and paleobiogeography of Siphlonuroidea. Moreover, the presence of such a lineage in mid-Cretaceous Myanmar suggests greater ecological and geographical diversity within this mayfly assemblages than previously recognized.

Four new species of the genus Ceutorhynchus (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) from the western Palaearctic

Four new species close to the Ceutorhynchus assimilis (Paykull, 1792) species group are described here: Ceutorhynchus armeniacus sp. nov. from Armenia lives on Alyssum (Brassicaceae), and is most similar to the West Palaearctic C. griseus C. Brisout de Barneville, 1869 and to C. montanus Colonnelli, 1997 from the Balkans. Ceutorhynchus crassulicola sp. nov. from the Canary Islands is related to the Palaearctic C. assimilis and the Central Asian C. confusus A. Schultze, 1903. Ceutorhynchus davidorum sp. nov. from Greece lives on Alyssum, is related to the West Palaearctic C. griseus and is also somewhat similar to the East European C. nigritulus A. Schultze, 1897. Ceutorhynchus dobrogeaensis sp. nov. from Romania lives on Lepidium perfoliatum (Brassicaceae), and is related to the East European and Central Asian C. difficilis A. Schultze, 1898 and to the Palaearctic C. assimilis.
