Secondary root nodulation and apogeotropism of Zamia pumila L. seedlings grown axenically on modified White's minerals with 2% sucrose at pH 5.7 was caused by light. Light also inhibited primary and secondary root elongation as well as secondary root production. Light‐induced growth inhibition and nodulation were greatest at high light intensities. Apogeotropism was more frequent at low light intensities.
