PENGEMBANGAN BLUEPRINT IT DENGAN ZACHMAN FRAMEWORK DI STP TRISAKTI

The goals of the thesis were to create a model enterprise architecture strategic planning of IS / IT college in the form of IT blueprint with Zachman framework in STP Trisakti. Data were compiled by the main supporting documentation college events, questionnaires, interviews and field observations. Development of IT blueprint is done by utilizing the methodology of Ward & Peppard framework and EA (Enterprise Architecture) Zachman Framework is mapped into the Framework as the ultimate form of IT blueprint. Data were analyzed using analysis tools for internal and external environment. Internal environmental analysis using Value Chain, CSF (Critical Success Factor), the current application portfolio and Asset / IT, while the external environment analysis using the PEST (Political, Economic, Social, Technological), Porter's five force and the latest technology trends. It also carried defining enterprise architecture in the form of business architecture, data architecture, application architecture and technology architecture. Results of the Analysis were a blueprint IT shaped matrix cell 36 Zachman. It can be concluded that the can are 5 stages of implementation in the IT blueprint STP Trisakti with three major central system development in four areas of development of the IS / IT is the application portfolio, HR IT, Hardware, Software and Networking

PERENCANAAN ARSITEKTUR APLIKASI UNIVERSITAS LAMPUNG MENGGUNAKAN ZACHMAN FRAMEWORK

In the present era, to support business processes in a university requires the support of ICT in improving the quality of education and services. Analysis of the existing condition of ICT implementation in Unila using Zachman framework shows that the change in the need of application becomes the most dominant thing to be immediately corrected in various fields of work in dispersed work units. Application requirements analysis is obtained by interviewing, obervating, and giving questionnaires to internal and external customers, and conducting document study of strategic plan of Unila. The result of this research is planning of Unila application architecture in accordance with organizational purpose which can give input for management to prepare integrated application in the future.

Perencanaan Sistem Informasi Akademik Menggunakan Zachman Framework

Academic information system planning can provide a guide in the design of academic information systems aligned with the business processes of an organization. SMK Isen Mulang yet have an Academic Information System planning are aligned with business processes. It required an academic information system planning can provide clear guidelines in the use of information technology for academic affairs at SMK Isen Mulang.
 Analysis of the needs required in the planning of Academic Information System using Zachman Framework approach. Each cell of the matrix Zachman discussed in depth to analyze the needs of Academic Information Systems of SMK Isen Mulang Palangkaraya. For the modeling used E-R diagrams, UML diagrams, and for examples of interface design using GUI Design Studio.
 The result of this research study is a vocational blueprint by using Zachman Academic Information Framework. Zachman Framework Approach to describe clearly and in detail the parts of planning academic Academic Information Systems in a simple model. This plan resulted in a blueprint that can be used as a reference are structured in making academic information system program code and test development in SMK Isen Mulang Palangkaraya.

Agile digital transformation of System-of-Systems architecture models using Zachman framework

Abstract Emergent behavior is behavior of a system that does not depend on its individual parts, but on their relationships to one another. Such behavior exists in biological systems, physical systems as well as in the human performance. It is an inherited nature of a System-of-Systems (SoS). A suitable framework is needed to guide the development of SoS architecture, which includes emergent behavior. Enterprise architecture (EA) is a discipline driving change within organizations. Aligning and integrating business and IT thereby belongs to strategic management. The management of EA change is a challenging task for enterprise architects, due to complex dependencies amongst EA models, when evolving towards different alternatives. In this paper, various architecture frameworks are explored for an application on SoS architecture: the Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) and Ministry of Defense Architecture Framework (MODAF) are declared inappropriate. The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF), the Federal Enterprise Architecture Framework (FEAF) and the Zachman Framework on the other hand are suitable. The use of Zachman Framework to guide the architecture development is described in step-by-step details in this paper. The agent-based simulation is recommended to develop the SoS architectural models following the Zachman Framework guidance. Ultimately, SysML and UML should be integrated with the agent-based model. An example with the collaborative engineering services for the global automotive supply chain is hereby described.

It is asserted that the existing methodologies (DEMO - Design and Engineering Methodology for Organizations, BORM - Business Object Relation Modeling and OntoUML) provide tools for analysis of the organization and its business processes through different ways. They lead to different results and make the process of organization modeling complicated. There is no software to support work with these methodologies together. The purpose of this research is to create a unified meta-model (within the Eclipse EMF technology) for a new methodology based on the existing ones and to analyze the completeness of these methodologies for describing enterprise architecture. It will serve as a basis for a new open software platform for multifaceted modeling of the organization. In this research, we have compared the above-mentioned methodologies and concluded that despite the fact that these methodologies provide an analysis of different aspects of organizational structure, they have a common basic set of concepts. This study demonstrates the implementation of the Ecore model that is built on the basis of the selected group of common elements of these methodologies. We have also found that the combination of the considered methodologies contains all the concepts inherent in the systematic approach to the modeling of organizational structure. Furthermore, we have demonstrated the aspects of the organization that can be modeled by the methodologies considered. Using the Zachman framework, it was shown that: the DEMO, BORM and OntoUML methodologies allow us to describe in detail the business processes that take place at different levels of the organization, from the ontological to the datalogical, and therefore provide comprehensive information for the multifaceted modeling of an organization. However, none of the existing methodologies takes the time component and goal-setting into consideration.

Practical EA Model Development: A Case Study of An Educational Institution in Bahrain

Organizations strive to meet their business goals in preserving a desired harmony and collaboration between its business environment and integrated ICT. At the same time, Enterprise architecture (EA), as a high ontological analysis tool, claims that organizations could directly benefit from EA efforts in enhancing knowledge and improved decision making about the organization‘s people, business processes, information, and ICT applications. Massive number of EA methodologies and frameworks assist organizations in achieving their aforementioned benefits. This paper addresses the development of an EA (baseline and a target architectural effort) analysis that enables the management of a Bahraini educational department; Information Systems Department (IS-Dep) assess its readiness for investing in a new Dashboard application. Respectively, Zachman Framework (ZFW), an Architecture Development Process (ADP), and ArchiMate modeling language were employed as an analysis tool, project methodology and a rigorous architecture description provider for the business and IT stakeholders. Results reveal that 1) The whole university is facing communication and information sharing difficulties, at which more advanced application systems, should be adopted to correct this problem. 2) Every type of data and information in the university is centralized implying that lengthy and time-consuming procedures are to be tackled. In order for the IS-Dep to meet the needs of both students and academics, the system needs to be decentralized. 3) Many services are not fully utilized, so the ISDep should utilize them.

Determination of Gap in Accreditation Standards Establishment Process Using Zachman Framework at a Health-Educational Hospital

Background: Accreditation is usually a voluntary plan supported by a non-governmental institution and trained evaluators that examine the competency of organizations providing health service according to pre-specified performance standards. Objectives: The current study aimed to determine the degree of establishment of accreditation standards using logical framework of Zachman. Methods: This descriptive research was conducted during year 2015. The population of the study included people involved in the establishment of accreditation standards. Sampling was conducted in the form of complete enumeration according to 36 standards of accreditation. The instrument used for data collection was the “Logical framework of Zachman”. Columns of framework consisted of people involved in conducting the work (Who), the purpose of the work (Why), strategy of the work (What), work time (When), and sub-system of doing work (Where) and way of doing work (How), and rows of framework included the view of hospital chief, director/assistants of hospital, officials and personnel. Test chi-square was used to compare between accreditation standards text and studied hospital gap. Descriptive statistical method was used for variables. Results: People involved in doing work and sub-systems of doing work at the hospital were consistent with specified accreditation standards. In 27% of the standards, time interval of doing work in the hospital was not conducted according to accreditation standards. In terms of way of doing work, 25% of standards had not been established, and 26% of them had been established incompletely. During interviews, it was found that 59% of personnel of purpose of doing work, and 94% of them are not informed about the strategy of doing work, according to accreditation standards in the hospital. Conclusions: Uncertainties in the accreditation standards in dimensions of purpose, people involved, strategy and time interval of doing work, respectively, led to a lack of understanding the intention of author/developers of standards by personnel. As a result, this led to lack of complete establishment of accreditation standards in the studied hospital. Keywords: Accreditation, Establishment, Gap, Hospitals, Tehran

Colaborated Architechture Framework for Composition UML 2.0 in Zachman Framework

Zachman Framework (ZF) is the framework of enterprise architechture that most widely adopted in the Enterprise Information System (EIS) development. In this study, has been developed Colaborated Architechture Framework (CAF) to collaborate ZF with Unified Modeling Language (UML) 2.0 modeling. The CAF provides the composition of ZF matrix that each cell is consist of the Model Driven architechture (MDA) from the various UML models and many Software Requirement Specification (SRS) documents. Implementation of this modeling is used to develops Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). Because ERP have a coverage of applications in large numbers and complexly relations, it is necessary to use Agile Model Driven Design (AMDD) approach as an advanced method to transforms MDA into components of application modules with efficiently and accurately. Finally, through the using of the CAF, give good achievement in fullfilment the needs from all stakeholders that are involved in the overall process stage of Rational Unified Process (RUP), and also obtaining a high satisfaction to fullfiled the functionality features of the ERP software in PT. Evaluación de la calidad de lenguajes de modelado a través de análisis taxonómico: una propuesta preliminar

The Model-Driven Engineering (mde) paradigm promotes the usage of conceptual models in information systems (is) engineering and research. As engineering products, conceptual models must have quality, which applies on both conceptual models and modeling language employed to build them. This paper presents a modeling language quality evaluation framework. This framework uses the principles from the popular Zachman framework for information systems as a taxonomic tool applied over modeling rtifacts used in an information system development. The purpose of this taxonomic tool is to perform analytic procedures that are aligned with an is reference architecture and ontological reasoning. Throughout this work, we describe how the Zachman framework supports analytics over modeling languages for quality purposes by its native management of semantics.

AN INTEGRATIVE APPROACH TO SUPPORT MULTI-PERSPECTIVE BUSINESS PROCESS MODELING

Business process modeling (BPM) has become a dominating approach for organizations to understand, plan and optimize their business processes. BPM has also become an important part in service systems development because it helps to identify service activities embedded in business processes. Several modeling languages have been developed to support BPM, including IDEF, BPMN and EPC. Yet, our research shows that these languages still lack comprehensive constructs for representing some core business concepts, such as business goals, non-functional requirements and resources. This paper has two related purposes: First, it uses the Zachman Framework to assess the modeling capabilities of some of the popular BPM languages to identify their modeling gaps. The Zachman Framework is known to be comprehensive for representing different business perspectives. Second, the paper proposes an integrative approach to support multi-perspective BPM, so as to bridge the identified modeling gaps. This approach is illustrated through an example. The proposed approach aims at supporting the creation of comprehensive models and facilitating a common understanding of business perspectives regardless of the languages that represent them. The main benefit of the proposed approach is its integration of existing modeling languages that are familiar to business analysts, rather than introducing new languages. Further it provides guidance for business analysts and helps them to select appropriate modeling languages.

Ontological map of service oriented architecture for shared services management

Service oriented architecture (SOA) and shared services (SS) have been widely studied in the information technology literature. However, there is a lack of tools for shared services management (SSM) to apply SOA. This paper proposes an ontological map for SSM to apply SOA. This mapping approach, based on the well-known Zachman framework of information architecture, specifies the ontological perspective of SOA for SSM. The ontological map semantically links all aspects of SOA for SSM. Through a case study, a design artifact of computerized ontological map of SOA demonstrates the usability of the artifact for SSM.

A reference architecture for the collaborative planning modelling process in multi-tier supply chain networks: a Zachman-based approach

A prominent and contemporary challenge for supply chain (SC) managers concerns the coordination of the efforts of the nodes of the SC in order to mitigate unpredictable market behaviour and satisfy variable customer demand. A productive response to this challenge is to share pertinent market-related information, on a timely basis, in order to effectively manage the decision-making associated with the SC production and transportation planning processes. This paper analyses the most well-known reference modelling languages and frameworks in the collaborative SC field and proposes a novel reference architecture, based upon the Zachman Framework (ZF), for supporting collaborative planning (CP) in multi-level, SC networks. The architecture is applied to an automotive SC configuration, where, under a collaborative and decentralised approach, improvements in the service levels for each node were observed. The architecture was shown to provide the base discipline for the organisation of the processes required to manage the CP activity.

Leveraging the Zachman framework implementation using action – research methodology – a case study: aligning the enterprise architecture and the business goals

With the emergence of new enterprise models, such as technology-based enterprises, and the large quantity of information generated through technological advances, the Zachman framework continues to represent a modelling tool of great utility and value to construct an enterprise architecture (EA) that can integrate and align the IT infrastructure and business goals. Nevertheless, implementing an EA requires an important effort within an enterprise. Small technology-based enterprises and start-ups can take advantage of EAs and frameworks but, because these enterprises have limited resources to allocate for this task, an enterprise framework implementation is not feasible in most cases. This article proposes a new methodology based on action–research for the implementation of the business, system and technology models of the Zachman framework to assist and facilitate its implementation. Following the explanation of cycles of the proposed methodology, a case study is presented to illustrate the results of implementing the Zachman framework in a technology-based enterprise: PyME CREATIVA, using action–research approach.

Enterprise Architecture Development Based on Enterprise Ontology

Enterprises choose Enterprise Architecture (EA) solution, in order to overcome dynamic business challenges and in order to coordinate various enterprise elements. In this article, a solution is suggested for the Enterprise Architecture based on a conceptual model of Enterprise Ontology (EO). Enterprise Ontology provides a common structure for data collection. First, conceptual model of Enterprise Ontology based on the Zachman Framework is presented. Then, the Enterprise Architecture development process based on Enterprise Ontology is proposed. Using this solution, Staffs, stakeholders, users, architects, and systems achieved a common understanding of enterprise concepts and relationships and therefore, architecture data are collected in a correct way. The primary focus is collecting accurate architecture data instead of developing architecture artifacts; also meet the decision maker's needs by fit for purpose modeling. Finally, we demonstrate our solution in a case study and show the appropriate results and conclusions.

Beyond the Zachman framework: Problem-oriented system architecture

The year 2012 marks the twenty-fifth anniversary of A framework for information systems architecture, written by John Zachman and published in the IBM Systems Journal. The first part of this paper reviews the Zachman and similar frameworks and concludes that there are a number of limitations in the framework approach when applied to today's technology environment and business problems. These include the inability of the problem owner to properly describe a solution, the partitioning approach, and the decision-making processes in the context of uncertainty and change. The second part of this paper analyzes today's problems and allocates them to one of three classifications: tame, complex, and wicked, depending on the degree of certainty and stability of knowledge and decisions in both the problem and the solution domains. The final part outlines an approach to problem-solving and architecture development using techniques borrowed from cybernetics and control theory. It proposes that partitioning should be determined by the nature of the problem and potential solutions; that feedback loops should be implemented in order to control the process; that the architect should work across the business problem and solution spaces; and that decisions should be related to business value.

E-participation and enterprise architecture frameworks: An analysis

The success of innovative e-participation solutions depends heavily on the organizational planning and the incorporation of such initiatives into the different stages of the policy life-cycle. E-participation often demands to introduce new participation facilities into the traditional processes of policy formulation and decision making. Accommodating the various requirements from distinct perspectives calls for a holistic engineering approach for e-participation systems analysis and design. Enterprise Architectures (EA) have evolved in information systems research as an approach to give guidance in developing complex socio-technical systems. This paper analyzes the application of EA frameworks in the context of e-participation. Eparticipation domain and implementation models are investigated to identify crucial tasks and aspects in e-participation project development and implementation. Related to the tasks identified, two EA frameworks are analyzed: the Zachman Framework and TOGAF. We explain how EA frameworks can support the development and implementation of e-participation projects. Finally, the needs for a reference framework for e-participation are argued and a reference framework is presented.

Design & Measure RUP Development Case Using the Zachman Framework as an Aid

Software process improvement (SPI) using the RUP is a persistent and iterative process which needs suitable methods for tailoring and measuring. The paper provides a method to tailor the RUP using the Zachman framework as an aid. In the method the RUP artifact matrix based on the Zachman framework represents tailoring result of artifacts vs. roles and the fulfilling rules of the artifact matrix represent the dependency relationship of artifacts of each cell. In addition the paper introduces two measurement models for measuring the performance of the development process to assist SPI in an iterative mode.
