Evaluation of Radiation Protection Knowledge and Attitudes of Health Services Vocational School Students Participating in Practice in Radiated Environments

The use of new diagnostic and treatment methods in the field of health exposes many health workers to the dangers of ionizing radiation. In this study, the radiation protection knowledge and attitudes of the students of the Health Services Vocational School, which trains health technicians at the associate degree level, were evaluated by survey method. The research population consists of 123 students who are receiving education in the Radiotherapy and Medical Imaging Techniques programs of the Istanbul Okan University Health Services Vocational School and who are doing internship, practice or skill training in the radiation environments of hospitals. A survey consisting of 36 questions was prepared within the scope of the research and the survey questions were applied through face-to-face interviews. A significant relationship was found between the participants' internships in diagnostic radiology units such as fluoroscopy and scopy, which have high radiation intensity, and their knowledge levels. While a statistically significant difference was found between the programs in terms of the students' radiation protection knowledge (p<0,05), no such difference was observed in terms of their attitudes.

Development of a Digital Module with Motivational Regulation and Metacognitive Prompt to Enhance Self-Regulated Learning in Vocational Schools

In a work environment that continues to develop, vocational school students are required to be independent and able to adapt quickly, making self-regulated learning (SRL) skills an urgent need. Innovations in education are needed to create learning environments that support students in developing self-regulated learning skills. This study developed a digital module to assist teachers in fashion vocational schools in facilitating learning, emphasizing SRL development through active learning interventions. The module incorporates motivational regulation prompts in the form of questions that encourage students and guide them to understand their learning objectives and ways to achieve them. Meanwhile, metacognitive prompts help students set goals, plan, select strategies, and evaluate learning activities. Based on feasibility assessments, the module's development data showed a 98% rating from media experts, categorizing it as highly feasible, and an 88% rating from subject matter experts, also categorizing it as highly feasible. The practicality test in a small group yielded an 88% score, categorizing the module as practical, engaging, and easy to use. Data from implementing the digital module with students indicated that it helped improve SRL by 35%, categorized as moderate. These findings suggest that a digital module integrating motivational regulation and metacognitive prompts can effectively support self-regulated learning in fashion vocational schools. which are expected to help the student learning process and improve self-regulated learning. It is expected to help students realize their learning needs and train them in independently planning, learning, managing strategies, and evaluating the learning process. This SRL ability is expected to form the character of vocational students who can adapt to all existing changes. There is a need for a sustainable implementation pattern and school support, so that students gain experience and feel a positive impact in the learning process so that they can grow the need for independent learning in students.

The Education of Roma Students: Integrated Education and Teacher Preparedness in Hungarian-Language Schools

This study examines the integration of disadvantaged Roma ethnic minority students in Hungarian-language vocational schools in Central European countries with highly segregated education systems. It focuses on Romania, Slovakia, and Hungary, where Roma students face significant segregation. This research investigates two Romanian, two Slovak, and four Hungarian vocational schools, selected based on their proportion of Roma students aligning with national averages. Surveys and interviews were conducted with teachers to assess their attitudes, commitment, and preparedness in educating Roma students. The main findings of this research are that schools with Roma student proportions matching national averages do not face significant challenges in co-education, teachers generally believe Roma students should complete lower secondary education, and teachers are committed to supporting Roma students but often feel unprepared to teach them. This study’s results suggest that governments should implement policies to eliminate educational segregation in vocational schools and promote inclusive education. Teacher training programs should focus on equipping educators with better tools to support Roma students. Possible directions for further research include a comparative analysis of vocational and grammar secondary schools in the integration of Roma students, longitudinal studies on the long-term educational and career outcomes of Roma students in vocational schools, and an examination of best practices in inclusive vocational education across different European countries.

Association between movement behaviors and depression among vocational school students with different sleep duration - a study based on the isotemporal substitution model

ABSTRACT The isotemporal substitution model can be used to explore the impact of the isotemporal substitution of different behaviors on human health. The association between sleep duration and mental health may be non-linear, but the relationship between the isotemporal substitution of movement behaviors and mental health in different sleep duration groups has not been explored. A questionnaire survey was conducted among Grade 1–3 students in 14 vocational schools in China, and 8149 valid questionnaires were obtained, of which 58.80% were in sleep-insufficient group, and 32.56% were detected with depression symptoms. The isotemporal substitution model was used for analysis. In the sleep-insufficient group, substituting 10 minutes/day of vigorous physical activity (β=-0.318, 95%I = −0.498~-0.138), walking (β=-0.254, 95%I = −0.381~-0.126) and sedentary behavior (β=-0.234, 95%I = −0.337~-0.130) with isotemporal moderate physical activity, or substituting vigorous physical activity (β=-0.465, 95%I = −0.577~-0.353), moderate physical activity (β=-0.147, 95%I = −0.263~-0.031), walking (β=-0.400,95%I = −0.476~-0.324) and sedentary behavior (β=-0.380,95%I = −0.434~-0.327) with isotemporal sleep, were negatively associated with depression; and substituting moderate physical activity (β = 0.318, 95%CI = 0.138 ~ 0.498) and sleep (β = 0.465, 95%CI = 0.353 ~ 0.577) with isotemporal vigorous physical activity was positively associated with depression. In the sleep-sufficient group, replacing sedentary behavior (β=-0.129, 95%I = −0.244~-0.013) with equivalent moderate physical activity was negatively associated with depression; replacing moderate physical activity (β = 0.219, 95%CI = 0.101 ~ 0.338), walking (β = 0.112, 95%CI = 0.040 ~ 0.185) and sedentary behavior (β = 0.091, 95%CI = 0.058 ~ 0.124) with equivalent sleep was positively associated with depression. For the sleep-insufficient group, substituting vigorous physical activity, walking, and sedentary behavior with isotemporal moderate physical activity and sleep had greater negative association with depression than the sleep-sufficient group. In conclusion, for the sleep-insufficient group, the substitution that was largest negatively associated with depression was sleep for other behaviors, and for sleep-sufficient group it was moderate physical activity for other behaviors. In future interventions, the sleep-insufficient group may achieve greater effects than the sleep-sufficient group if they use moderate physical activity and sleep instead of other behaviors.

Aesthetic Assessments of Upcycled Products Made by Fashion Design Student

This study aims to assess the aesthetics of upcycling products made by students of the Vocational School of Fashion Design. The assessment is based on Djelantik's aesthetic theory, which includes aspects of form/appearance and appearance/presentation. The research methodology used in this study is quantitative with a Pre-Experimental one-shot case study design, involving 5 expert panelists who assessed 5 tote bag products with additional decoration using the embedding techniques. The results showed that the form/appearance aspect with the elements and principles of design obtained a score of 91.75%, which is included in the very good category. The appearance/presentation aspect which includes skills and facilities or media scored 96.3%, also included in the very good category. Overall, the aesthetics of additional decoration with sticking techniques on upcycling products by students received an average score of 94.25%, including in the very good category. According to the expert panelists, product 3 had the best results of adding decoration. In conclusion, the aesthetic assessment of additional decoration on upcycling products made by students of Vocational School of Fashion Design is very good. Moderated mediation analyses: Exploring the complex pathways between school bullying and suicidal ideation among vocational school students in China.

School bullying can affect adolescent suicidal ideation (SI), but the mediating and moderating effects behind this association are still unclear, especially for students in vocational schools. This study explored the relationship between school bullying and suicidal ideation (SI) among vocational school students in China, and it constructs a moderated mediation model to examine the mediating effects of physical anhedonia (PA) and social anhedonia (SA), as well as the moderating effects of cognitive reappraisal (CR) and expressive suppression (ES). Convenience sampling was conducted. The sample included 13,675 vocational school students (57.7% female) with an average age of 15.88years (ranging from 13 to 21) from 13 vocational schools in Hainan Province, China. Participants completed questionnaires on demographics, school bullying, PA, SA, CR, ES, and SI. The results showed that the prevalence rates of PA, SA, and SI among bullied students were significantly higher (40.7%, 37.8%, and 34.0%, respectively). Mediation analysis revealed that school bullying had a significant indirect effect on SI through PA and SA (accounting for 42.4% of the total effect), with SA being the key mediator. Moderated mediation analysis confirmed that CR moderated the mediating effects of school bullying via PA/SA on SI, and ES moderated the mediating effects of school bullying via SA on SI. ES did not moderate the relationship between school bullying and SA in the female group. School bullying induces SI by impacting PA and SA, and CR and ES moderate this process. This provides theoretical support for developing effective intervention measures to alleviate the negative impact of bullying on mental health.

A psychological study on ADDIE-blended teaching: focusing on learning styles

ABSTRACT The fundamental aim of instructional design is to enhance students’ learning outcomes, a goal that relies on the collaborative interaction between all factors throughout the teaching process and the students. In essence, the key to achieving highly effective learning results lies in the precise integration and fusion of teaching modes, curriculum resources, and digital tools with students’ characteristics. This article adopts an educational psychology perspective and utilizes the Solomon Learning Styles Inventory alongside other basic information collection methods. Through a detailed analysis of secondary vocational school students, it aims to uncover their unique cognitive tendencies and learning paths. Subsequently, it reverse-engineers an innovative teaching model: the “Dual Hybrid” teaching model based on ADDIE. This model, framed within the ADDIE model, combines two hybrid forms, “Online Platform + Offline Teaching” and “Case-based Teaching + Learning Sheets,” to meet the teaching and learning needs of the “Mechanical Fundamentals” course in secondary vocational schools. The research findings indicate that the model innovation from the perspective of educational psychology not only provides forward-looking theoretical support and practical guidance for instructional model design in the field of secondary vocational education but also propels secondary vocational education towards a more personalized, efficient, and innovative direction.

IMPROVED KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE RISK OF HIV/AIDS IN ADOLESCENTS

Introduction: HIV/AIDS is still a public health problem worldwide and there is an increase in the number of teenagers affected by HIV/AIDS in the world. Teenagers are vulnerable to contracting HIV/AIDS because adolescence is a period of puberty which makes teenagers motivated to explore sexual experiences without using protection. The aim of this community service is to increase teenagers' knowledge about the risk of HIV/AIDS. Methods: The method used in this activity were counseling and giving presentations in class using audiovisual media at one of the vocational schools in Sidoarjo. The population is all vocational school's students who were members of health extracurriculars. The sampling used is total sampling of 50 students. The knowledge questionnaire was used as an instrument and its validity has been tested. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis and the wilcoxon signed rank test. Results: Based on the data analysis, it can be concluded that there was a significant increase in knowledge after being given counseling about the risk of HIV/AIDS in adolescents (p<0.01). Conclusion: The counseling about the risk of HIV/AIDS in Adolescents that has been carried out, it can be concluded that there is a significant difference in the average knowledge score before and after being given health education about the risk of HIV/AIDS in Adolescents.

Research on Strategies for Improving Employability of Graduates of Higher Vocational Colleges

Finding work after college has always been a big problem for universities and society as a whole. The problem of graduates from higher vocational schools having a hard time finding work is especially noticeable. COVID-19 has slowed down China's social and economic growth in the last few years; things are not looking good for the national economy, which directly leads to the dire state of jobs. The number of college students in higher vocational colleges is growing every day, as is the number of graduates. At the same time, the job market is getting more and more competitive, and there is still a gap between the skills of college students in higher vocational colleges and the skills that are needed in the job market—this has made it harder for college students in higher vocational colleges to find jobs. Thus, making college students in higher vocational schools more employable by developing their overall skills and helping them become more competitive for jobs have become important tasks for higher education and pressing problems that need to be fixed. Based on a comprehensive analysis of existing research, this paper proposes four strategic suggestions: building a talent training model based on employability factors, strengthening the construction of high-quality vocational education characteristic courses, giving full play to the role of practical teaching in cultivating employability, and building a high-quality employment service system for higher vocational colleges. This aims to provide a reference for improving the employability of graduates from higher vocational colleges.

Understanding Student Sentiment Towards Informatics Engineering: Strategies to Attract High School and Vocational Graduates

Higher education plays a crucial role in shaping the future of the younger generation, and in the ever-evolving digital era, technology has become an integral part of the education process. Amid the ongoing digital transformation, students’ interest in the Informatics Engineering major is increasing; however, challenges remain in attracting high school (SMA) and vocational school (SMK) students to pursue this field. This research aims to provide a deeper understanding of students' sentiments toward the Informatics Engineering major and to formulate an effective promotional strategy to encourage high school and vocational school graduates to choose this path. To achieve these objectives, the research employs the TextBlob classification method, a natural language processing tool that assigns sentiment polarity scores (positive, neutral, or negative) to textual data. Sentiment analysis was conducted on responses collected through questionnaires, involving number of high school and vocational school students. The results of the sentiment analysis for high school (SMA) students reveal that out of 209 data points, 93 tweets (44.5%) were categorized as positive sentiment, citing career prospects and academic opportunities as key motivators. In contrast, For vocational school (SMK) students, among 135 data points analyzed, 50 tweets (37.0%) were categorized as positive sentiment, prioritizing practical skills and industry readiness. Based on the findings, the study formulates targeted promotional strategies. For SMA students, the focus should be on showcasing career prospects, technical skill development, and success stories in the tech industry. For SMK students, the promotion should emphasize practical, hands-on skills, industry partnerships, and job-readiness. This research provides recommendations for tailored promotional approaches to enhance students’ awareness and interest in Informatics Engineering, thereby encouraging greater enrollment in the field.

PISA Content Quantity-Standardized Test: Exploring Vocational Student’s Mathematical Communication Skills

This study aims to describe the mathematical communication skills of vocational school students and to find out their weaknesses in mathematical communication skills in solving the PISA standardized test on quantity content. 28 Indonesian vocational school students participated in this study, and four representing each level of communication skills were chosen as participants. This study was framed by a qualitative approach with data collected through interviews and tests, analyzed using mathematical communication skills indicators, and validated by methods triangulation. The results show that students across different levels were able to articulate known information and the concepts related to the context of the problems. Students at level 0 and 1 demonstrated basic problem-solving strategies, albeit incomplete, while those at levels 2 and 3 exhibited better performance by applying reasoning and drawing conclusions. Furthermore, students' written communication skills are not as good as their oral communication skills. The findings highlight the need to enhance students' written communication and systematic problem-solving strategies through habituation of problem-solving teaching and learning.

Development of E-LKPD Based on Realistic Mathematics Education on Three-Variable Linear Equation System Material Oriented to Critical Thinking Skills and Self-Efficacy of Vocational School Students

This study aims to (1) describe the characteristics of e-LKPD based on realistic mathematics education on system of linear equations with three variables oriented towards critical thinking skills and self-efficacy of vocational school students, (2) describe the feasibility of e-LKPD based on realistic mathematics education on system of linear equations with three variables oriented towards critical thinking skills and self-efficacy of vocational school students in terms of validity, practicality and effectiveness. This type of research is research and development (Research and Development) with the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The research subjects were 34 students of class X TKP SMKN 2 Tarakan. In this research, One Group Pretest - Posttest Design was used. The research instruments used were validation sheets, practicality assessment sheets by teachers and students, learning implementation observation sheets, critical thinking ability tests and self-efficacy questionnaires. The results of the research show: (1) the e-LKPD developed contains characteristics found in the RME approach to the material of on system of linear equations with three variables oriented towards critical thinking skills and self-efficacy. The characteristics contained in RME-based e-LKPD include integrated learning, use of context, mathematization and construction processes and interactivity. (2) the RME-based e-LKPD developed meets the criteria for feasibility in terms of validity aspects with a percentage of feasibility according to material experts of 93.4% and media experts of 98.9% with the validation result criteria being very feasible; practicality with a very practical category based on the results of student and teacher responses; effectiveness based on critical thinking skills with classical completeness of students reaching 82.4%, the results of the T-test paired samples-test with a significance level of 5% obtained that there was an influence on students' critical thinking skills after treatment using RME-based e-LKPD, the N-Gain result was 0.73 with a high category, and the effectiveness of e-LKPD on self-efficacy with an increase in each self-efficacy indicator, the N-Gain result was 0.3 in the moderate category, and the results of the Wilcoxon test on self-efficacy data with a significance level of 5%, it was obtained that there was an influence on students' self-efficacy after treatment using RME-based e-LKPD.

Digital innovation : Implementation of interactive teaching materials for vocational school teachers to support Merdeka Belajar and SDGs 4

The problem in vocational school (SMK) learning is the lack of interactive teaching media used by educators. However, under the Merdeka Belajar curriculum, vocational school students are expected to develop their achievements and create self-employment opportunities based on their acquired skills. This activity aims to enhance the skills of vocational school teachers in digitizing teaching materials through 2D animated videos, 3D animated videos with Artificial Intelligence (AI), and digital flip books. The method used in this community service includes socialization, training, mentoring, and evaluation. The results of the activity indicate an improvement in vocational school teachers' skills in creating 2D and 3D animated instructional videos. Additionally, some teachers have successfully developed interactive digital-based teaching materials.

Does Soft Skills Training Affect Youth Employment? Evidences from Turkey

In today’s fast-paced, ever-changing labor market, soft skills are in high demand, especially for new graduates. This study examined the impact of soft skills training on youth employment. As the first sample, the quantitative research method was conducted by applying a questionnaire to the students of Gaziantep University Vocational School of Social Sciences in Turkey. As the second sample, a qualitative research method was conducted by selecting HR Managers homogeneously according to the statistical regional classification throughout Turkey and conducting interviews focusing on the soft skills of new graduates. Based on the results of our analysis, 14 required soft skills were identified. In cooperation with European Union countries, a training curriculum was designed using these 14 soft skills. Participants of the training program were randomly divided into control and experimental groups. The experimental group was only included in the soft skills training program. The employment rates of both groups were compared after nine months of follow-up. The findings showed that soft skills training resulted in higher employment rates.. The findings show that soft-skills training resulted in higher employment rates. Based on our findings, we propose that universities design and apply soft-skills curricula for young undergraduate and vocational school students to increase youth employment. Moreover, soft skills development must be considered when designing and conducting training programs for workers in public institutions and companies.

Academic Possible Selves, Motivational Beliefs, and Self-Regulation Among Adolescents Attending General and Vocational Schools: Does the Type of School Matter?

Academic possible selves (PSs) are defined as future self-representations about education and academic outcomes, recognized for their motivational power, especially in challenging situations. This study aimed to (i) explore the salience of academic PSs among senior high school students, considering sociodemographic factors; (ii) investigate the relationships among perceived contextual factors, PS constructs, difficulty mindsets, and academic outcomes; and (iii) examine differences between general and vocational school students across these variables and their relationships. A sample of 598 10th graders (i) reported their two most important hoped-for and feared PSs as well as their strategies to achieve/avoid them and (ii) completed scales measuring demographics, perceptions about parents' and teachers' beliefs, perceived efficacy for attaining PSs, perception of school as a path, difficulty mindsets about academic tasks, academic self-regulation, and achievement. The results indicated that academic PSs were salient among adolescents' hoped-for PSs, with general school students reporting academic PSs more frequently and showing more positive motivational beliefs. Path analysis indicated the role of the study variables in academic self-regulation and achievement, with school type moderating these effects. The findings emphasize the importance of supporting students' academic PSs and tailoring context-based interventions to foster academic outcomes in diverse school settings.

Membangun Minat dan Jiwa Kewirausahaan Pada Siswa SMK Kartini Surabaya

Building interest and entrepreneurial spirit in the younger generation is not easy, the perception that entrepreneurship is not an attractive or profitable career choice is one of the obstacles in building interest and developing an entrepreneurial spirit among young people, this perception causes young people's interest in entrepreneurship to still be very low. This service aims to provide entrepreneurship training in order to build economic independence for students at Vocational High School SMK Kartini 7 Surabaya. Generation Z is a generation that is expected to be able to contribute to participating in encouraging economic development and improving welfare, improving welfare starts for themselves, family, friends and the surrounding community. Inability to see business opportunities, lack of ideas or concepts, lack of knowledge and skills, fear of failure, inability to manage and face risks, lack of self-confidence, lack of support from people around them, all of these are factors that hinder the growth of interest and entrepreneurial spirit among the younger generation. For this reason, efforts are needed to overcome these obstacles, through entrepreneurship training. Entrepreneurship training aims to foster interest and build an entrepreneurial spirit among vocational school students and build awareness that entrepreneurship is very important to increase potential and self-development, build an independent, creative and innovative spirit, a tough generation that does not give up easily.

ADVANCING VOCATIONAL EDUCATION WITH VOCAR-FLIP: IMPROVING STUDENT COMPREHENSION IN THE DIGITAL ERA

In the 21st century, globalization and digital transformation have changed life patterns significantly. Digital technology is now at the center of almost all aspects of life, including the education sector in Indonesia. Technological skills and readiness to face the job market demands are critical. Vocational education, including vocational schools, aims to equip students for global market competition but continues to encounter obstacles in enhancing the quality and relevance of its programs. The proposed solution is the development of flipbook- based learning media with Augmented Reality (AR) to increase student engagement and skills in this digital era. This study employed a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach, involving a population of 149 vocational school students from West Java. The research results show that using Flipbook with AR produces an N-gain score of 74.3%. With this N-gain value, the VocAR-Flip model effectively improves vocational school students' learning outcomes, especially in academic achievement and conceptual understanding. This research can contribute to developing more interactive and efficient learning technology for future education.
