Evaluating the Impact of Teledentistry on Patient Outcomes, Diagnostic Accuracy, and Satisfaction in a Prospective Observational Analysis.

Background Teledentistry, defined as the use of telecommunication technologies for dental care, has emerged as a transformative approach to oral health services. This prospective observational analysis aims to comprehensively assess the impact of teledentistry on patient outcomes and satisfaction, addressing key aspects such as diagnostic accuracy, longitudinal treatment outcomes, and economic and logistical considerations. Methods The study involved 242 participants selected from diverse dental clinics offering teledentistry services. Participants could choose between traditional in-person visits and teledentistry consultations. The teledentistry interventions included remote consultations, diagnostic evaluations, and treatment planning facilitated through virtual communication tools. Baseline assessments captured initial dental conditions, and follow-up assessments were conducted at three, six, and 12 months. Outcome measures included diagnostic accuracy, patient satisfaction, changes in dental conditions over time, and economic and logistical feedback. Results Descriptive statistics revealed baseline characteristics, with participants evenly distributed between in-person and teledentistry groups. However, the overall satisfaction with diagnoses was significantly lower in the teledentistry group as compared to the in-person group (p < 0.001). Longitudinal assessments demonstrated comparable changes in dental conditions between the two groups. Economic feedback highlighted a cost-saving advantage for teledentistry users, with 80% reporting reduced expenses. Conclusion This study highlights the transformative potential of teledentistry in expanding access to oral health services, reducing costs, and providing comparable treatment outcomes to traditional in-person care. As the increased acceleration of the propagation speed of the web, a lot of data collected by automated or semi-automated way. The 4s (Volume, Velocity, Variety and Veracity) of big data increase the challenge to extract useful value via systemic framework. This study aims to construct the data model of big data digital learning. Based on the digital learning data, data-driven innovation framework was proposed to identify data form and collect data. Bayesian network was proposed to capture learning model to extract user experience of students to enhance learning efficiency. Empirical study was conducted on a university to validate the proposed approach. The results have been implemented to support the strategies to improve student learning outcomes and competitiveness.

The need for new information technologies during foreign language learning for the quality training of a specialist

New information technologies for learning a foreign language, which are necessary for the high-quality training of a specialist, have been analyzed. The goal of informatization of education is determined, and it is shown as a priority and necessary direction of informatization of society, which has a mandatory priority of applying new information technologies in the education system. Information technologies, improve the study of a foreign language, provide an opportunity for deep and rapid assimilation of vocabulary, learning to write, clarity of pronunciation, dialogic and monologic speech, and improvement of grammatical structures. The peculiarities of distance learning when learning a foreign language are determined. When learning a foreign language, a mandatory element of its quality study is the use of telecommunication technologies in the educational process. The most powerful and effective elements of information and computer technologies during education, essential innovative technologies in the methodology of teaching foreign languages, which should be used by students in higher education, are singled out. For teaching a foreign language, in general, and for stimulating the cognitive activity of students, in particular, it is necessary to use digital tools. Examples of the most important ones are given and recommendations on methods of working with them are offered.

Venciendo la Depresión: A Pilot Study of Telehealth-Delivered Behavioral Activation for Depressed Spanish-Speaking Latinxs

Latinxs are substantially impacted by depression. The research literature has documented barriers (e.g., stigma, limited English proficiency, and lack of transportation) contributing to the underutilization of behavioral health services among Spanish-speaking Latinxs (SSLs). Telehealth can be broadly defined as the provision of healthcare information and services through the use of telecommunications technology. Behavioral Activation (BA) has well established empirical support for reducing symptoms of depression among ethnic minority groups. The unprecedent challenges associated with accessing in-person behavioral health services during the COVID-19 pandemic have underscored the need to examine alternate methods for treatment delivery. Thus, the proposed study aimed to conduct a feasibility study to determine the viability of telehealth-delivered BA for SSLs. Twenty-five SSL participants met eligibility criteria and were enrolled in the intervention and 17 participants completed treatment. The majority of participants experienced significant improvements in depressive symptoms and positive affect. These treatment gains were sustained at one-month follow-up. The present study offers promising preliminary data to support the acceptability and feasibility of telehealth-delivered BA, with the potential to lessen barriers to care by offering readily accessible behavioral health services for depressed individuals in underserved communities.

THE POTENTIAL OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS IN CANCER CLINICAL TRIALS: AN OVERVIEW

This review article explores the potential benets and challenges of using telecommunications technology, including telemedicine and mobile health apps, in cancer clinical trials. The author conducted a search of four electronic databases for studies published in English between 2010 and 2021 that evaluated the use of telecommunications technology in adult cancer patients and reported patient outcomes. The studies were grouped based on the type of telecommunications technology used, and the outcomes were synthesized to provide an overview of the potential impact of telecommunications technology on cancer clinical trials. Telecommunications technologies were found to improve patient access and recruitment, data collection, management, and analysis, and enable real-time monitoring of patients' health and adherence to treatment. Telecommunications technologies can also reduce trial costs by minimizing the need for inperson visits and other expenses. However, the implementation of telecommunications technologies in clinical trials is not without challenges, including technical issues, patient acceptance and adherence, regulatory and legal approvals, and variability in healthcare systems. The author suggests that addressing these challenges could lead to improved patient outcomes and better overall health outcomes for cancer patients.

Digital Theft: Concept, Contents, Victims and Their Classification

The goal of the article is to develop some aspects in the theoretical basis of digital thefts’ victimology. A digital theft is understood as stealing digital identifiers, assets, utilitarian digital rights or technological resources through inputting, blocking and modifying computer information. A victim of digital theft is a physical (juridical) person who suffered property or other damage from the illegal seizure of the abovementioned intangible objects. The author suggests singling out the following types of victims, depending on the crimes: 1. Thefts of means of payment (electronic and cryptocurrency, token-actions, credit tokens). They are carried out by a third party gaining illegal access to the blockchain purse of the victim or unsanctioned transfers from it. 2. Thefts of information (passwords, access keys, personal identifiers, accounts, elements of a digital person). The main type of information to be compromised is the so-called governing information in its numerous forms. 3. Thefts of resources (computational capacities, traffic, electric energy). From the economic viewpoint, this is theft of key production capacities of the information era. This subgroup includes victims of computational capacities’ theft (unsanctioned use of the victim’s processor and appropriation of the capacities of personal computers without the knowledge of the user), internet traffic (tunnelling), electric energy (unlawful use of energy resources through unsanctioned connection to the network with the use of telecommunication technologies). The author draws some conclusions regarding the spread of such crimes and the traditional risk groups among Internet users who run a higher chance of the type of victimization under analysis. The topic of digital thefts is considered to be highly urgent and relevant for complex research in the spheres of cybercriminology, cybercriminalistics and cybervictimology. This is of principal importance in the conditions of the digital transformation of the economy and criminalization of new actions infringing on the electronic means of payment (such as thefts from a bank account or other actions involving digital currency included in Part 3, Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

Telemedicine in Psychiatry: benefits and challenges of the the Home-Hospital Care system (COD20) project

IntroductionTelepsychiatry (TP) is the use of telecommunication technologies to provide psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and consultation. During the COVID-19 outbreak, TP has shown potential for connecting with people unable to access traditional in-person services, and also enabling patients to receive mental health care safely from home. The Home Hospital care system (Cure Ospedaliere Domiciliari; COD20) is a video consultation service developed by the University of Milan.ObjectivesWe aimed at investigating the potential of Telemedicine (TM) in a sample of psychiatric patients.MethodsAs of now, 208 consecutive patients of an outpatient clinic belonging to ASST Fatebenefratelli-Sacco in Milan were interviewed through an online anonymous survey. Data collected were sociodemographic, job position, educational level, digital skills and both satisfaction degree and ease of use of the COD20 tool. Data were analyzed using SPSS v.27.ResultsAmong 208 patients, 87.7% had Internet access, 94.5% used a smartphone, 74% used a computer and 37% used a tablet. The levels of digital skills were considered intermediate-advanced in communication and information research for the majority of the cases. A high percentage of patients (80.8%) learned how to use electronic devices by themselves, while only 12.3% had an ECDL certificate. The most represented diagnoses were Mood Disorders (44.5%) and Anxiety Disorders (14%). The majority of the sample (54.8%) was visited using TM for clinical interviews: 24.7% of them used TM at least 10 times/year, and 19.8% more than 20 times/year. Among all the clinical interviews conducted using TM, 61% concerned psychiatric consultation, while 30% were dedicated to psychotherapy. The most used tool was the COD20 platform (21.9%): it was considered easy to use in 47.9% of cases, while 43.8% of patients would like to use it again in the future. The main reasons leading to the usage of TM were the difficulties in reaching the ambulatory (for 43.9%) and the workplace (for 30%).Image:Image 2:ConclusionsTM represents a valid implementation in the traditional clinical practice, and we showed it is well received in terms of appreciation and ease of use. The study outlines the progress made in telemedicine adoption across Africa, highlighting successful initiatives, such as mobile health applications, teleconsultations, and telemonitoring programs. These efforts have contributed to improved health-care access, particularly in remote and underserved areas. In addition, the utilization of telemedicine has played a crucial role in disease management, prevention, and health education. However, the implementation of telemedicine in Africa is not without challenges. Infrastructure limitations, including inadequate Internet connectivity and inconsistent electricity supply, pose significant hurdles. Furthermore, the shortage of trained health-care professionals and concerns related to data security and privacy must be addressed to ensure the sustainable and widespread adoption of telemedicine. This study critically examines the regulatory landscape surrounding telemedicine in various African countries, emphasizing the need for harmonized policies to encourage cross-border collaboration and standardization. The sociocultural factors influencing the acceptance of telemedicine among diverse populations are also discussed, acknowledging the importance of community engagement and awareness. While telemedicine presents a promising avenue for improving health-care delivery in Africa, careful consideration of the continent’s unique challenges is essential. Collaborative efforts involving governments, health-care providers, technology developers, and communities are crucial for overcoming barriers and maximizing the potential benefits of telemedicine in advancing health-care equity and quality across Africa.

Guarantees in the Use of Telecommunications Technology in Litigation before UAE Civil Courts and Its Compliance with International Standards

In 2005, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) legislature authorized the use of telecommunications technology into the delivery of government services. Such use was extended to the judiciary in (i) 2017 in amendments to the Civil Procedures Law, (ii) 2018 by issuing the Civil Procedure Regulation, and (iii) 2019 by a Ministerial Decision regulating its use. Deployment of this technology has guaranteed the fulfilment of swift justice in the UAE&rsquo;s courts through the advantages of simplicity, swiftness, low cost, equality between the litigants. In addition, it supports the State&rsquo;s policy of implementing modern technologies to more efficiently process everyday transactions. However, major questions remain about the guarantees offered to litigants when using this system, whether these guarantees actually improve traditional (i.e. non-electronic) litigation process, and the extent to which these guarantees comply with international standards related to principles and rules of litigation. The paper argues that the recent legislative amendments provide similar and more advanced guarantees for remote litigation, such as the lack of objections by litigants; records of remote litigation being confidential and protected; information security policies; the principles of publicity and confrontation between the litigants being fulfilled; and, the right of defence being guaranteed. In the conclusion, the paper suggests additional amendments to UAE law so that litigation guarantees are fully assured when using technology in litigation before the civil courts.

Aim. The presented study investigates the opportunities and prospects of the digital transformation of procurement logistics.Tasks. The authors describe the essence of procurement logistics; analyze digital technologies used in modern procurement logistics and the effects of their application; determine the prospects for the use of digital technologies in the procurement logistics system.Methods. This study uses systems analysis, induction, comparative analysis, structural and functional analysis.Results. Digital technologies are involved in procurement logistics processes: from data processing using computers to the use of telecommunication technologies for processing and distributing information in digital and other forms. The use of digital technologies in procurement integrated with work on product distribution channels increases the quality of procurement services, reduces inventory and procurement costs. With the help of digital technologies, the relationship between buyers and sellers in the field of procurement has reached a fundamentally new level, with closer interaction and rapid exchange of information on both sides allowing them to make predictions and assess the prospects for collaboration. Thus, it is necessary to intensify efforts aimed at the digitalization of procurement logistics.Conclusions. Investment in the digitalization of logistics processes is a prerequisite for the successful development of any modern organization that wants to maintain its competitiveness in the market. Monitoring the inadequate oxygen delivery (IDo2) index as a predictor of adverse events is an emerging area of interest that has primarily been used in pediatric cardiac surgery but not with children with sepsis.Roy and colleagues evaluated the relationship between IDo2 dose (mean IDo2 index during a specified time interval) and major adverse events (MAEs) in children admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) with sepsis or septic shock. The development of telecommunication technology in the last three or more decades has created the conditions for high quality and high speed data transmission between physically separated devices (central computers, terminals, mobile devices). Telecommunication can be defined as the electronic connection of physically (geographically) remote computers, and the telecommunication system as a component of compatible telecommunication devices connecting physically separated devices that can transmit text, image, audio and video information. The paper focuses on the choice of telecommunication providers in Serbia. It examines the attitudes of service users and what influences their choice of a particular mobile network. Consumer attitudes can influence the improvement of service management of mobile operators in Serbia. The paper represents a modest contribution to the use of telecommunication technologies to improve the existing offer on the market of mobile operators in Serbia and especially in the eastern region of the country. The city of Zajecar, the largest city in the eastern region of Serbia, is included in the study as a representative example.

Child Health, Vulnerability, and Complexity: Use of Telehealth to Enhance Care for Children and Youth With Special Health Care Needs.

Telehealth, or the use of telecommunications technology and infrastructure to deliver health-related services and information that support patient care, has the potential to improve the quality of care, particularly deficiencies related to access and patient experience of care. Telehealth may also reduce disparities for children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN) with barriers to accessing in-person care, for example, those residing in rural areas and children with medical complexity who are particularly fragile. While important foundational work has been done to study telehealth's effectiveness and implementation, key gaps remain regarding its use for CYSHCN. The CYSHCNet national research agenda development process, described in a companion article, identified as key priority areas for future research telehealth as an innovative care delivery model for all CYSHCN and as a mechanism to address rural-urban disparities in health care access. Here, we review the current knowledge around telehealth, identify populations for whom telehealth could be especially beneficial, discuss the important gaps identified, and make recommendations for specific studies that will move the field forward. There are ample opportunities for telehealth to improve health and patient/family experience of care and quality of life for CYSHCN while requiring less time and resources from families accessing this care. Innovative research to inform best practices around incorporation and implementation of telehealth will improve its efficiency and effectiveness and achieve optimal outcomes.
