Construction and Optimization of Faculty Teams in Vocational Colleges under the Paradigm of Industry-Education Integration
  • Oct 20, 2025
  • Journal of Computer Science and Frontier Technologies
  • Bing Wu + 2 more

Amid accelerating industrial transformation driven by artificial intelligence and digital manufacturing, vocational education faces an acute shortage of du-al-qualified teachers who can bridge academic instruction and enterprise prac-tice. This study investigates the construction and optimisation of faculty teams in Shandong’s vocational colleges within the paradigm of industry–education integration. Drawing upon Human Capital Theory, the TVET-oriented TPACK framework, and the AI-enabled professional learning model, a mixed-methods design combined questionnaire data (132 valid responses) with semi-structured interviews and a case study at Shandong X College. Findings reveal structural and competence imbalances: only 49.4 per cent of teachers hold dual qualifica-tions, fewer than 30 per cent engage in enterprise practice exceeding three months annually, and merely 22.7 per cent employ AI-assisted or digital-twin pedagogy. Three interlocking barriers were identified—rigid institutional mechanisms, resource scarcity, and cognitive constraints regarding digital and industrial teaching. To address these challenges, the study proposes a Tri-ple-Entity Collaboration and Dual-Drive framework linking full-time teachers, enterprise engineers, and part-time practitioners, supported by policy incen-tives and AI-based capability development. Implementation at Shandong X Col-lege increased dual-qualified faculty to 58.2 per cent, raised digital-teaching coverage to 65.3 per cent, and improved enterprise participation by 40 per cent. Theoretically, this research extends Human Capital Theory by integrating AI-mediated capacity growth and enriches the TVET-TPACK model through quantitative validation. Practically, it offers a replicable approach for aligning vocational faculty development with industrial upgrading in China’s digital economy.

Technological Innovation and Industrial Upgrading in China’s Automotive Industry: The Dual Mechanisms of Global Value Chain Mediation and Industrial Agglomeration Moderation
  • Oct 19, 2025
  • Sustainability
  • Tingting Sun + 1 more

Amid global economic transformation, technological innovation is widely recognized as a pivotal driver for the sustainable upgrading of the automotive industry. This is particularly critical for China, the world’s largest automotive market, which faces persistent challenges, including technological bottlenecks in core components and confinement to low-value segments within global value chain. This study introduces novelty by systematically integrating and empirically testing the mediating role of Global Value Chain (GVC) and the moderating effect of industrial agglomeration within a unified framework—a focus that remains underexplored in the sector. Using panel data from 28 Chinese provinces (2000–2020), we measure industrial upgrading using the DEA-Malmquist index to capture total factor productivity changes and employ a system GMM approach. The results indicate that technological innovation directly fosters industrial upgrading and indirectly facilitates it by improving the industry’s GVC position. Moreover, industrial agglomeration positively moderates this relationship, thereby amplifying the returns to innovation within geographic clusters. These findings highlight the necessity for integrated policies that simultaneously promote technological innovation, strategic GVC positioning, and synergistic industrial agglomeration to achieve sustainable upgrading. As a paradigmatic emerging economy, China’s experience offers valuable insights for other latecomer economies pursuing industrial upgrading.

  • Sustainability
  • Tingting Sun + 1 more

This study investigates the impact of industrial agglomeration on the upgrading of China’s automobile industry (UCAI) using panel data from 28 Chinese provinces spanning 2000 to 2020. The automobile industry is vital to China’s manufacturing and service sectors, with its upgrading capable of driving national economic growth and contributing to sustainable development goals. We employ the Malmquist productivity index based on the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method, implemented through DEAP 2.1 software, to assess the UCAI. System Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) analysis, conducted using Stata 17 software, was used to examine the impact of industrial agglomeration on this process, while also exploring the threshold effect of human capital and the moderating effect of government. The results indicate that industrial agglomeration significantly enhances the upgrading of the automobile industry; however, human capital acts as a critical threshold. Below this threshold, agglomeration does not have a significant impact on the upgrading of the automobile industry, while exceeding it allows for significant positive effects. Additionally, government has a moderating effect in facilitating this process by implementing policies that support innovation and sustainable practices. Based on these findings, this paper presents several policy implications aimed at further promoting the UCAI and advancing sustainable development in the sector.

  • Mar 27, 2025
  • Academic Journal of Management and Social Sciences
  • Mengjiao Zhang

In the stage of high-quality development, higher vocational education is an important force to promote the optimization and upgrading of China's industrial structure. This paper selects provincial panel data and uses spatial Dubin model to explore the spatial effect of fiscal expenditure on Higher Vocational Education on the upgrading of industrial structure. The results show that: first, the fiscal expenditure of higher vocational education and the upgrading of industrial structure have spatial autocorrelation, mainly manifested in the phenomenon of high agglomeration and low agglomeration; Secondly, the fiscal expenditure of higher vocational education has an inhibitory effect on the upgrading of industrial structure and a negative spatial spillover effect on the surrounding areas; Thirdly, regionally, the fiscal expenditure on Higher Vocational Education in the eastern region has no obvious impact on the upgrading of industrial structure in the region, but it will hinder the upgrading of industrial structure in the surrounding areas; Fiscal expenditure on Higher Vocational Education in the central region can neither promote the upgrading of local industrial structure nor promote the upgrading of industrial structure in neighboring regions; Increasing fiscal expenditure on Higher Vocational Education in the western region has no obvious impact on the upgrading of industrial structure in the region, and can promote the upgrading of industrial structure in the surrounding areas. Finally, some suggestions are put forward: pay attention to the investment in connotation construction and speed up the training of high-level skilled talents; Strengthen the integration of industry and education to ensure the docking of talent supply and industrial demand; Pay attention to regional differences, promote the coordinated development of higher vocational education, and help upgrade the industrial structure.

  • Mar 27, 2025
  • Scientific Journal of Economics and Management Research
  • Hangru Li

Intelligent manufacturing is a global trend in the development of the manufacturing industry and a key direction for the transformation and upgrading of China's manufacturing sector. This paper explores the relationship between customer concentration and the intelligent transformation of manufacturing enterprises from the perspective of customer concentration, revealing the mechanisms through which innovation investment levels and innovation path dependence mediate the relationship between customer concentration and intelligent transformation in manufacturing. To this end, based on data from Chinese A-share manufacturing enterprises from 2013 to 2021, the study employs web crawling technology to collect "intelligent transformation" keywords from corporate annual reports, thereby characterizing the level of intelligent transformation in enterprises. The results indicate that customer concentration inhibits the intelligent transformation and upgrading of enterprises. Mechanism analysis shows that customer concentration primarily mitigates its inhibitory effect on intelligent transformation by promoting corporate innovation investment, while it exacerbates the inhibitory effect through innovation path dependence. Finally, the study proposes countermeasures and suggestions from three aspects: adjusting customer structure, enhancing innovation investment, and fostering an open and diversified mindset, providing theoretical guidance and insights for promoting the intelligent development of Chinese manufacturing enterprises.

The purpose of this research project is to deeply analyze how the innovation of carbon finance mechanism drives the optimization and upgrading of China's industrial structure to a more low-carbon, environmentally friendly and efficient mode at the provincial level. Under the new situation of global climate governance, carbon finance, as an innovative financial instrument and institutional arrangement, helps China's economy to develop in a green and sustainable way by guiding and allocating financial resources through the market mechanism. The project adopts provincial panel data analysis methods and double difference models to systematically examine the innovative practices of various carbon financial products (e.g., green credit, green bonds, carbon emissions trading, etc.) and their impacts on regional industrial structure. Specifically, we will explore how the carbon financial mechanism can effectively mobilize social capital to invest in the fields of clean energy, energy saving and consumption reduction, and circular economy, accelerating the development and growth of emerging industries; at the same time, we will analyze how it can act on the traditional high-carbon industries through price signals, motivate enterprises to increase technological research and development, reduce the intensity of carbon emissions, and promote the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries. In addition, the project will also assess the interaction between government carbon emission reduction policies and carbon financial mechanisms, as well as the differences and effectiveness of different provinces in using carbon financial tools to promote the optimization and upgrading of industrial structure, so as to provide strong data support and theoretical basis for the formulation of scientific and reasonable carbon financial policies and industrial restructuring strategies in various regions of China.
