Encouraging meaningful engagement in virtual learning contexts presents notable challenges, as the absence of physical interaction often limits spontaneity and immediacy. This study examines the tone and linguistic features employed in asynchronous exchanges within the discussion forums of a course offered by an online university. To achieve this, it is essential to consider not only the quantity but, above all, the quality of the contributions made by both teachers and students, paying particular attention to tone and linguistic features. The sample refers to a subject taught during the 23/24 academic year, Didactics of the Specialty (English) in the Master's Degree in Teaching in Secondary Education, Baccalaureate, Vocational Training and Adult Education. The total number of students is 114. The methodology responds to a triangulated qualitative analysis: on the one hand, the contributions to the forums of the students and the teacher are analysed; on the other hand, the open responses to a voluntary and anonymous questionnaire that is given to the students at the end of the subject are analysed too; and, finally, a sentiment analysis is carried out, focusing on the tone of all the contributions. The findings indicate that adopting a friendly and conversational tone, combined with consistent, timely, and active participation on the part of the teacher, contributes to transforming the forum into a dynamic environment for interaction and learning. This communicative style encourages students to mirror the teacher’s approach, promoting a sense of proximity and confidence that becomes evident in their own tone and discourse.

Estimate the seroprevalence of antibodies against Hepatitis A Virus (anti-HAV)-Immunoglobulin G (IgG) and Immunoglobulin M (IgM)-among adolescent students in Curitiba, Paraná, in the context of an outbreak, and identify the proportion of natural infections and vaccine immunity. A cross-sectional study based on a serological survey was conducted between July 3 and 5, 2024 in five state schools. Stratified random sampling was proportional to the total number of students per school. Adolescents aged 10-19 years were included with individual and legal guardian consent. Collection was conducted in the schools and the samples were analyzed by chemiluminescence for anti-HAV antibodies detection. Information on vaccination was obtained from the municipality's database. Statistical analyses included calculation of proportions, chi-square tests, and Fisher's exact test. Of the 216 samples, 35 (16.2%; 95%CI 11.9; 21.7) were reactive for anti-HAV IgG, indicating previous immunity; none of the samples showed reactive IgM. IgG prevalence among the unvaccinated was 4.6% and 11.6% among the vaccinated. Of the 25 previously vaccinated reactive cases, all were in the 10-14 years age group. Of the ten reactive by natural exposure, five were in the 10-14 years age group and five in the 15-19 years age group. IgG seroprevalence showed no significant difference by gender (p-value 0.685) or school (p-value 0.078). Seroprevalence of anti-HAV IgG among adolescents in Curitiba was low, predominating vaccine immunity over that acquired by natural exposure, and absence of acute infection cases.

Introduction. The relevance of the problem of sociocultural adaptation is conditioned by the international cooperation of universities expanding every year and the accompanying increase in the share of foreign students in the total number of students. At the initial stage of education students face a number of difficulties and barriers of sociocultural adaptation, which become especially acute for those who do not speak Russian and begin to master the language and study the disciplines of the educational program in parallel. Purpose setting. The aim of the study is to identify the most significant barriers and difficulties of sociocultural adaptation faced by foreign students, which have a negative impact on the learning process. Methodology and methods of the study. The main research method used was an online survey in the form of questionnaires, which allowed us to identify the general range of problems of sociocultural adaptation of Chinese students studying at Baikal State University; an additional research method was an included structured observation, which allowed us to study the impact of adaptation difficulties on the learning process of students in dynamic characteristics. Results. The conducted research allowed to identify the following most significant barriers of sociocultural adaptation of foreign students, which create difficulties in learning: language barrier, which causes difficulties in communication with teachers; didactic barrier, which is related to the organization of the educational process and difficulties in mastering the forms and methods of teaching; methodological barrier, which is related to the provision of teaching disciplines with methodological materials in the students' native language or electronic resources available for quick translation. Conclusion. The results obtained in the course of the study can be used to make decisions within the university regarding the development and implementation of possible ways to overcome the barriers of sociocultural adaptation and minimize their negative impact on the learning process of foreign students.

Global competition for human recourses significantly increases the importance of education exports, including for Russia. The national development goals include increasing the number of foreign students up to 500,000 by 2030. Aim. To analyze the dynamics of the number of foreign medical students at Russian universities, with a perspective up to 2030, and to provide proposals for approaches to increasing the number of foreign students. Materials and methods. Data on the admission, number and graduation of foreign medical students were obtained from the federal statistical form “Information on the organization carrying out educational activities in higher education programs” posted on the website of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia. Statistical processing methods were used to analyze the data; forecasts were obtained using simple exponential smoothing methods. Results. The total number of students in medical specialties in 2024 showed an increase, amounting to 79,709 and 6740 people for extra-budgetary and budgetary forms of education funding, which corresponded to 24 % and 14 % of foreigners in all areas of training. Taking into account current admission rates and the average length of study in medical specialties, the estimated number of international students in medical programs may reach 140–142 thousand people by 2030 (excluding quota students). This indicator can be significantly influenced by the number of students who are expelled during their studies (up to 33 % in some specialties), which requires definite attention. Conclusion. Foreign citizens are interested in medical education in Russia, but to ensure sustainable growth during the period from 2025 to 2030, it is necessary to implement a comprehensive strategy aimed at increasing the attractiveness and competitiveness of Russian medical education, as well as creating favorable conditions for foreign students.

The curriculum of elementary education is natural science (IPA) which is a field of study related to natural phenomena systematically. The purpose of learning science courses in elementary schools is to gain understanding and knowledge about interesting science concepts that can be applied in everyday life. This is important to address the problems of lack of teacher creativity, student learning activities, and student learning outcomes. Although relevant, this is a generalization, namely how TGT addresses less than optimal learning outcomes in energy material. involving 41 fourth grade students of Jatinegara Elementary School, East Jakarta, divided into a control class and an experimental class. 22 out of 24 students (91.7%) showed an increase in learning outcomes after participating in Team Games Tournament (TGT)-based learning, while only 2 students experienced a decrease in the control class that did not receive similar treatment, while the rest experienced an increase. The total number of students mentioned in the results (24 experimental students + X control students) is not explicitly 41. You need to make sure the total sample and distribution between the experimental and control classes are clearly and consistently stated in the methods and results sections. If the experimental class only has 24 students, then the control class only has 17 students (41-24), 22 out of 24 students (91.7%) showed an increase in learning outcomes after participating in Team Games Tournament (TGT)-based learning, while only 2 students experienced a decrease in the control class that did not receive similar treatment, while the rest experienced an increase.
