In this study, we proposed a second-order multifunction filter topology based on a current differencing buffered amplifier. With the proposed topology, five filter functions can be realized. Sensitivity and non-ideal state analyses of the proposed circuit have been performed. In addition to the proposed second-order multifunction filter topology, the third-order quadrature oscillator circuit was operated as the application circuit. In both circuits, the theoretical work and simulation results are in compliance. The proposed design has potential in the medical device design field.

Resistor-Less Capacitor-Controlled Single VDIBA-Based Third-Order Quadrature Sinusoidal Oscillator

This paper presents a new voltage-mode (VM) third-order quadrature sinusoidal oscillator (TOQSO) employing a single voltage differencing inverting buffered amplifier (VDIBA) along with three grounded capacitors (GCs) (suitable for IC implementation and also for parasitic absorption) and two NMOS transistors (operated in triode region). The condition of oscillation (CO) and frequency of oscillation (FO) of the presented circuit are self-regulating, i.e. CO can be regulated electronically by transconductance and by varying capacitors, and the FO can be tuned. Non-ideal analysis of the presented TOQSO circuit has been carried out and the results have been compared with ideal ones. Sensitivities of FO with respect to active and passive components have been evaluated and found to be less and also the presented oscillator configuration has low power dissipation and low total harmonic distortions (THD). The feasibility of the presented circuit has been validated using high-performance tunable CMOS VDIBA with a low supply voltage ±0.6 V. Experimental results have also been corroborated using VDIBA, implemented with commercially available ICs MAX435 and AD830.

A New Realization of Third-Order Inverse Bandpass Filter and Its Application as an Oscillator

A new operational transresistance amplifier (OTRA)-based third-order inverse bandpass filter (IBPF) is presented in this paper. To illustrate an application of the presented IBPF, the proposed configuration is used to implement a third-order quadrature oscillator (TOQO). Furthermore, the nonideal behavior of the proposed topologies has been examined using a single-pole model of the OTRA. It is perceived that for high-frequency applications, the effect of nonidealities may be eliminated through self-compensation. Passive sensitivities are computed and are found to be less than half, rendering proposed topologies insensitive to component variations. Phase noise study and frequency stability analysis have been carried out and found that the proposed TOQO enjoys good frequency stability. The proposed circuits’ workability is verified through an Analog Design Environment (ADE) Spectre tool provided by Cadence Virtuoso using 0.18 [Formula: see text]m CMOS gpdk process parameters. Monte Carlo statistical analysis is also carried out to assess the prefabrication performances. Total harmonic distortion (THD) for the proposed IBPF is found to be less than 5%. Pre- and post-layout simulations are also included to affirm the theory. Excellent agreement among simulation results and theory is observed.

Electronically controllable third-order quadrature sinusoidal oscillator employing CMOS-OTAs

This paper describes a voltage mode third-order quadrature sinusoidal oscillator (TOQSO) based on operational transconductance amplifiers (OTAs). The proposed configuration uses three OTAs and three grounded capacitors. Outputs of two voltage mode sinusoids with 90° phase difference are found in the proposed oscillator circuit. The condition of oscillation and frequency of oscillation are independently electronically controllable by separate transconductances of the OTAs. The performance of TOQSO is tested by SPICE (version 16.5) simulation using TSMC 0.18 µm technology parameters and experimental results employing CA3080 type IC OTAs have been presented to confirm the workability of the proposed new configuration.

ÜÇÜNCÜ DERECEDEN YENİ BİR QUADRATURE OSİLATÖR TASARIMI

Bu çalışmada, son zamanlarda oldukça fazla dikkat çeken bir aktif eleman olan Terslenmiş Akım Geri Beslemeli İşlemsel Yükselteç (ICFOA) kullanılarak üçüncü dereceden quadrature osilatör devresi sunulmuştur. Topoloji iki adet ICFOA, üç adet kapasitör ve üç adet direnç olmak üzere gerilim modlu ikinci dereceden alçak geçiren filtre ve gerilim modlu integratör yapısının kaskat bağlanıp kapalı çevrim oluşturması ile elde edilmiştir. Sunulan devrenin çalışabilirliği PSPICE benzetim programı ile denenmiş ve teorik sonuçlar ile örtüştüğü görülmüştür. Teorik kesim frekansı 3,979MHz ve benzetim sonucu ölçülen kesim frekansı ise 3,933MHz’dir. Benzetimde 0,35 μm MOSIS parametre seti ve ICFOA CMOS yapısı kullanılmıştır. Önerilen devrenin güç tüketimi 4,83mW’dır.

Electronically Tunable Third-Order Quadrature Oscillator Using VDTAs

This study proposes a new electronically tunable third-order quadrature oscillator using two multi-output voltage difference transconductance amplifiers (VDTAs) and three grounded capacitors. The proposed circuit provides three quadrature voltage outputs, two high-impedance quadrature current outputs, and one high-impedance current output with controllable amplitude. The proposed circuit can provide amplitude modulation/amplitude shift keying signals when the input bias current of the second VDTA is a modulating signal. The oscillation condition and oscillation frequency can be separately adjusted by the input bias currents of two multi-output VDTAs, and it is suitable for use on custom sensor networks. Experimental and H-Spice simulation results are given to confirm theoretical analyses.

A third-order quadrature sinusoidal oscillator (TOQSO) is proposed employing two voltage differencing inverting buffered amplifiers (VDIBAs), three grounded capacitors and a resistor. The proposed TOQSO enjoys electronically tunable, non-interactive condition and frequency control. The TOQSO uses all grounded capacitors, which is suitable for IC implementation. Moreover, the internal CMOS realization of VDIBA is possibly the simplest among all recently introduced new active building blocks. SPICE simulation results have been provided to support the validity of proposed TOQSO using TSMC 0.18 µm technology.

A systematic realization of third-order quadrature oscillator with controllable amplitude

A systematic realization of third-order quadrature oscillator using a voltage-mode non-inverting lowpass filter and a voltage-mode inverting lossless feedback integrator is presented in this paper. The proposed circuit consists of two multiple-output differential voltage current conveyor transconductance amplifiers (MO-DVCCTAs), two grounded resistors and three grounded capacitors. The new circuit provides three quadrature voltage outputs, two high-impedance quadrature current outputs, and one high-impedance current output with controllable amplitude, simultaneously. When the input bias current of the first MO-DVCCTA is a modulating signal, the circuit can generate amplitude modulation or amplitude shift keying signals. The condition of oscillation and the frequency of oscillation can be controlled independently through grounded resistors. The proposed circuit only uses grounded capacitors and grounded resistors, which can be easily implemented as an integrated circuit. The experimental results and H-Spice simulation results are given to confirm the theoretical analysis.

A New Resistorless and Electronic Tunable Third-Order Quadrature Oscillator with Current and Voltage Outputs

ABSTRACTThis paper presents a new resistorless and electronic tunable third-order quadrature oscillator based on voltage difference transconductance amplifiers (VDTAs). The proposed configuration using two VDTAs and three grounded capacitors has three current outputs and two voltage outputs. The resistorless circuit enjoys electronically and independently control of oscillation condition and oscillation frequency. It can simultaneously provide two quadrature output voltages, two quadrature output currents, and one amplitude-controllable output current. All the current output terminals possess high-output impedance terminals. The active and passive sensitivities of the quadrature oscillator are low. The simulation and experimental results are included to validate the theoretical analysis.

Voltage-Mode and Current-Mode Resistorless Third-Order Quadrature Oscillator

This paper presents the realization of a resistorless third-order quadrature oscillator using two multiple-output current controlled current conveyor transconductance amplifiers (MO-CCCCTAs) and three grounded capacitors. The proposed circuit provides two quadrature voltage outputs, two high-impedance quadrature current outputs, and one high-impedance amplitude-controllable current output. The proposed oscillator satisfies the industrial requirement for amplifier and modulation signals and phase shift keying signals, when the input bias current of the second MO-CCCCTA is used as a modulating signal. Its oscillation condition and oscillation frequency can be adjusted independently by two different bias currents of MO-CCCCTAs. The structure of resistorless and only grounded capacitors suggests that the proposed oscillator can be easily implemented in an integrated circuit.

Voltage-Mode Third-Order Quadrature Sinusoidal Oscillator Using VDBAs

This paper presents a third-order quadrature sinusoidal oscillator (TOQSO) using two voltage differencing buffered amplifiers (VDBAs), three capacitors and a resistor. The new topology provides two quadrature voltage outputs. The condition of oscillation (CO) and frequency of oscillation (FO) are electronically independently controllable by the separate transconductance of the VDBAs. The workability of the proposed TOQSO is confirmed by SPICE (Version 16.5) simulation using Taiwan semiconductor manufacturing company (TSMC) 0.18 μm process parameters.

Third-Order Quadrature Oscillator Circuit with Current and Voltage Outputs

The paper presents a new quadrature oscillator of third order which can provide four quadrature current outputs and two quadrature voltage outputs. The new circuit employs three differential voltage current conveyors and six passive components, most of which are in grounded form. Circuit operation at high frequencies is verified along with nonideality and parasitic study. The circuit enhancement for generation of four phase clock waveforms is also given. The proposed circuit is a novel addition to the oscillator family.

Current-mode third-order quadrature oscillator

The author presents a current-mode current-controlled third-order quadrature oscillator circuit synthesised from a simple yet novel approach using basic bilinear blocks. The new circuit is more compact than the other third-order oscillators available in the literature and enjoys non-interactive frequency control, use of grounded capacitors and availability of both quadrature current and voltage outputs. PSPICE simulations are performed for the verification of the new circuit. Experimental evidence is further given for completeness sake. The new basic scheme is also useful for realising a quadrature oscillator using other active elements as well.

Quadrature oscillator using grounded components with current and voltage outputs

This study proposes new third-order quadrature oscillator that provides several voltage and current outputs simultaneously. The circuit uses differential voltage current conveyors and grounded components, enjoys non-interactive frequency control and can be made resistor-less by using voltage-controlled differential voltage current conveyors. Non-ideal study and parasitic effects are also considered and their effects are discussed. The proposed theory is verified through PSPICE by good results.
