Оценка туристско-рекреационного потенциала территории с применением методов геоинформационного анализа на примере Тюменской области

Research and assessment of the tourist-and-recreational potential play an important role in development of the territory and optimization of its use. The purpose of the research in this article is to apply methods of geoinformation analysis for calculating the mentioned potential, the example of the Tyumen oblast, RF. The results are presented in the form of an integral indicator of the desired value, a thematic map of the tourist and recreational potential of the said territory, as well as the one combining specially protected natural zones and tourist infrastructure facilities of the study areas. The software product used in this article is the GIS Axioma. The methods of geoinformation analysis used for research and evaluation are data aggregation, spatial data connection, thematic mapping using the color fill method. As a result of the performed research, conditional identifying two main large tourist zones of the Tyumen oblast, RF with significant tourist and recreational potential is possible

BIM-Based Framework for Photovoltaic Systems: Advancing Technologies, Overcoming Challenges, and Enhancing Sustainable Building Performance

Building-integrated photovoltaic systems (BIPVs) is a strategy to achieve energy self-sufficiency in buildings. However, photovoltaic (PV) energy production presents challenges due to its intermittent nature, characterized by variations and uncertainties associated with solar radiation and interference from the building’s surroundings. Therefore, building information modeling (BIM) enables energy simulations and solar performance analyses during the design phase of buildings. In this context, this paper aims to identify the key strategies for integrating BIM and photovoltaic energy production systems and how these approaches support the development of sustainable projects. A systematic literature review was conducted, combined with bibliometric analysis, content analysis, and coding of 63 articles. Results indicate an annual research growth rate of 19.62%, with contributions from 268 authors and an international co-authorship rate of 22.22%. Core research trends in the BIM-PV context were identified through thematic maps, highlighting four dimensions—BIPV applications, parametric tools for energy simulation, challenges, and potential benefits—divided into 32 codes. The findings are synthesized into four theoretical propositions structured in an integrative framework. Additionally, five key applications of BIM-PV integration are mapped, along with their addressed problems and the limitations in establishing theoretical and managerial contributions.

An Integrated Approach for Groundwater Potential Prediction Using Multi-Criteria and Heuristic Methods

This research focuses on groundwater mapping for the Çumra and Beyşehir Basins in Konya, a semi-arid region in Turkey that plays a crucial role in agriculture and the food industry. Geographic information systems (GIS), the analytical hierarchical process (AHP), and the multi-population-based differential evolution algorithm (MDE) were combined to identify potential groundwater zones. Since direct data on groundwater presence are costly to obtain, thematic maps created from groundwater conditioning factors (such as aquifer, slope, permeability, alluvial soil, soil quality, lithology, precipitation, temperature, salinity, and stone density) can be used to estimate groundwater potential. In this study, these factors were assigned weights using the AHP technique in Model 1 and the MDE technique in Model 2. The TOPSIS (technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution) method was then employed to simulate groundwater potential, using weights from both techniques. The performance metrics of both models were as follows: Model 1 (RMSE: 114.219, MSE: 13,046.091, and MAE: 99.663) and Model 2 (RMSE: 114.209, MSE: 13,043.785, and MAE: 99.652). The proposed method addresses issues of consistency and bias that might arise from relying on expert opinions through the use of heuristic techniques. Moreover, this approach, which does not require direct data on groundwater availability, enables the creation of accurate predictions while overcoming the challenges of obtaining expensive data in underdeveloped and developing countries. It provides a scientifically sound way to identify and conserve water resources, reducing drilling and other related costs in watershed management and planning.

Brain tumors. A bibliometric analysis of forty years by science mapping

Objective: Science mapping is a systematic approach to analyzing the intricate network of relationships in the scientific literature. Science mapping methodology investigates the networks of relationships among scientific articles, authors, journals, keywords, and research topics. This study aims to comprehend the literature in the field of brain tumors. Methods: Our study covers the period 1980-2022. Our study uses the Web of Science database for literature reviews and bibliometric analyses. The obtained data were filtered and classified. The 10,777 articles were analyzed in five sections. Some of sections are: structural analysis of the articles, analysis of countries, keyword analysis, thematic analysis, and the collaboration analysis. Results: The articles have been published in 1761 journals. The average citation per article is 38.22. The highest h and g-index values belong to Cancer Research. For thematic analysis, the period from 1980 to 2022 has been analyzed. During 2021-2022, 'Deep Learning' and 'Brain Tumors' formed the motor themes. The authors' collaboration network is analyzed. Kun LE is the author with the most collaborations. Conclusions: Upon examining thematic maps from all periods, it is assessed that the likely topics and scopes of future research on brain tumors will be biomarkers, personalized treatments, artificial intelligence, immunotherapy, and pediatric brain tumors.

Historical Study of Land and Forest Degradation using GIS Technologies in Jaguay Negro – Lancones

The research entitled "HISTORICAL STUDY OF LAND AND FOREST DEGRADATION USING GIS TECHNOLOGIES IN JAGUAY NEGRO – LANCONES" assessed historical changes in forest cover and land degradation in this region. It used historical data, satellite imagery, and aerial photographs taken with drones, along with Geographic Information Systems (GIS), to analyze historical and current patterns of land use and vegetation cover. This methodology generated thematic maps and detailed spatial analyses. The results revealed a progressive decrease in vegetation between 2020 and 2024, with a notable increase in bare soils and sparse vegetation due to deforestation, water stress and unsustainable resource management. Critical areas with limited natural regeneration and greater loss of vegetation were identified. The study underscores the urgency of implementing reforestation, sustainable soil management and conservation strategies in priority areas. It also confirms the relevance of GIS and remote sensing as key tools for monitoring and managing resources in vulnerable rural contexts. In addition, this process strengthened forestry engineering students' skills in geospatial technologies, critical analysis of environmental data, and interpretation of results, preparing them to face complex challenges in the environmental field.

Innovations in peatland monitoring through remote sensing: a bibliometric perspective

The literature on peatlands and the use of remote sensing has grown significantly, reflecting the importance of peatlands in the global carbon cycle and efforts to monitor and mitigate climate change. This bibliometric study investigates research trends, key themes, and the scientific evolution of remote sensing applications in peatland studies. The objective is to analyze the scientific production of remote sensing in peatlands, identify key authors, institutions, publication sources, and contributing countries, and map emerging themes and core research topics for future developments. A bibliometric analysis was conducted using data from the Scopus and Web of Science databases, covering articles published from 1979 to 2024. The study examined keyword frequency over time and network mapping to identify core and niche research themes. Data visualization was performed using strategic maps, categorizing topics based on centrality and density. The results indicate a significant increase in publications related to "carbon," "peatlands," and "climate change," highlighting the growing academic interest in these topics. The thematic mapping revealed that "peatlands," "carbon," and "vegetation" are central and highly dense themes, while issues such as "gas emissions" and "carbon dioxide estimates" are emerging areas of interest. Institutions and authors from developed countries lead scientific production, suggesting a geographical concentration of knowledge. The analysis highlights expanding remote sensing applications for peatland monitoring, mainly due to their environmental and climatic relevance. This study contributes to understanding research gaps and future directions in the field, encouraging studies addressing emerging and promising scientific advancement themes.

ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION FROM THE PERSPECTIVE IN TEACHING GEOGRAPHY

Environmental education is essential in the geography curriculum, promoting conscious and critical citizenship in relation to environmental challenges. This study highlights the relevance of field study methodologies, thematic maps, case studies and the use of technologies, such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS), which facilitate the practical understanding of the interactions between society and the environment. The National Common Curricular Base (BNCC) emphasizes the importance of forming environmentally responsible citizens, but the implementation of these principles depends on investments in infrastructure, teaching resources and ongoing teacher training. Activities developed in geography teaching, such as analysis of deforestation and pollution, increase ecological awareness and encourage sustainable attitudes. Therefore, integrating environmental education into geography contributes to a more balanced society committed to the preservation of natural resources.

Deep Dive Into Sustainable Development Goals Through the Lens of Triple Bottom Line: Past, Present, and Future

ABSTRACTRecent wars, pandemics, global warming, healthcare crises, and economic strain have profoundly affected the socio‐economic‐environmental conditions of many developed & developing countries, impacting the triple bottom line. In response, governments are striving to address these challenges through the 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs). However, the United Nations (UN) SDGs mid‐term review report has recently attracted attention in response to the urgent call for action against countries' poor performance. Despite ongoing research on SDGs, the existing body of work is scattered. There is a crucial deficit in comprehension regarding the evolution of this research domain, as well as the prevailing research's fundamental focus and implicit assumptions. This study employs bibliometric and content analysis to comprehensively examine the contemporary status of research. The study examines influential works, intellectual structures, and research gaps using citation networks, bibliographic coupling, and thematic mapping. Analyzing 779 documents from January 2001 to February 2024, this study found that research interest surged significantly after 2014 and again in 2023. The United States and China are the leading contributors, whereas African and North Asian countries require greater focus. Furthermore, South Asian institutions and authors are at the forefront of contributions to sustainable development research. Developing countries increasingly emphasize rapid growth coupled with sustainable practices to strengthen the three pillars of the triple bottom line. Keyword analysis indicates that the primary focus areas are life cycle assessment, reverse logistics, social sustainability, circular economy, Industry 4.0, and sustainable business models. Further, within the content analysis, the comparative study of the top 50 cited documents and UN mid‐term SDGs review report advocates for future research on sustainability practices such as lean manufacturing, reverse logistics, life cycle assessment, supply chain management, integration of advanced technologies, and reporting quality to enhance business responsiveness toward society. The results of this study may aid scholarly research, managers, and policymakers in adopting sustainable methodologies, promoting a more enduring future.

Techniques, challenges, and opportunities in mobile thematic map design for data journalism

ABSTRACT Maps are increasingly read on mobile devices. Mobile maps necessitate specific design considerations to improve readability and user experience. Little research has focused on how to design mobile thematic maps, in contrast to reference maps. Data journalism represents a common way that the public encounters mobile thematic maps. This paper characterizes the design techniques and challenges associated with mobile thematic cartography in the context of data journalism. Through interviews with 18 expert news cartographers, I show that teams of data journalists are increasingly aware of mobile users, but face numerous constraints when designing for these users. They face time constraints, the need to design for both desktop and mobile, and must reach vast general audiences, meaning they often practice simultaneous design over mobile-first design. News cartographers have also reduced their use of interactivity, which reduces complexity related to designing for both desktop and mobile. This work shows that news cartographers solve mobile thematic map design challenges through iterative design processes that draw from years of expertise, not a strict set of guidelines.

The Evolving Role of Marketing in Supply Chain Management: A Comprehensive Bibliometric Review

This study investigates the evolving relationship between marketing and supply chain management (SCM) through a comprehensive bibliometric review. The primary objective is to analyze how these disciplines have intertwined over time, identify key authors and influential publications, explore emerging research themes, and reveal existing gaps in the literature. Utilizing a bibliometric approach, the research involved systematic data collection from the Scopus database, focusing on peer-reviewed articles published between 2020 and 2024. The analysis employed software tools such as VOSviewer and BibExcel for publication frequency, citation impact, co-citation, and thematic mapping. The findings indicate a significant integration of marketing and SCM, driven by the need for cohesive strategies to align operations with customer satisfaction in the context of global complexities. Key themes identified include the role of artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain technology, sustainability, and environmental innovation, which are pivotal in enhancing responsiveness and decision-making within supply chains. Influential authors, such as Ahluwalia et al. and Toorajipour et al., have contributed substantially to this discourse. The study also highlights emerging trends, particularly the impact of digitalization on consumer interactions and marketing logistics. Ultimately, the research underscores the critical need for further exploration of the interconnections between marketing and SCM to address contemporary challenges and inform future strategies.

A bibliometric analysis of disability research in Saudi Arabia: Evolving trends, thematic mapping, and gaps.

To identify key trends and influential authors and institutions, provide thematic mapping, and determine recent evolutions and gaps in the disability research in Saudi Arabia. The study started in June 2024 and the data was analyzed during July 2024 in Al-Ahsa, Saudi Arabia. The analysis employed bibliometric techniques such as bibliometric coupling, and thematic mapping using VOSviewer and RStudio with the Bibliometrix package. The bibliometric analysis identified a total of 3080 publications and showed that the annual growth rate in the number of publications was 13.5%. Emerging themes included intellectual disabilities, quality of life, rehabilitation, and mental health. Additionally, there was a significant increase over the years in studies incorporating modern technologies such as machine learning and artificial intelligence. International collaborations were significant, at 59.2% of the publications. Density visualization highlighted central themes such as multiple sclerosis and quality of life. Emerging themes such as machine learning and virtual reality reflected recent trends that integrated advanced technologies into disability research. Several gaps were found, particularly in foundational themes and information on the practical applications of the emerging technologies for disabled people. The bibliometric analysis highlighted a diverse landscape of disability research in Saudi Arabia. Future research should explore the practical applications of advanced technologies in the Saudi context to improve the quality of life for individuals with disabilities.

Evaluation of Temperature and Precipitation Since 4.3 ka Using Palynological Data from Kundala Lake Sediments, Kerala, India

A comprehensive database of paleo vegetation from Kundala Lake, Kerala, was used for a palynological study in a 120 cm sedimentary profile from Kundala Lake (1700 mamsl), Palni Hills, to understand the climate and vegetation equilibrium during the last four millennia. On the basis of pollen assemblage and cluster analysis, a relatively high percentage of evergreen vegetation between 4.3 and 3.4 ka (phase I) was inferred to represent the relicts of middle Holocene vegetation during a warmer climate. Subsequently, in the periods of 3.4–2.3 ka (phase II) and 2.3–0.87 ka (phase III), herbs/shrubs dominated. A relative increase in the percentage of arboreals along with herbaceous taxa was again observed from 0.87 to 0.12 ka (phase IV). Later, in phase V (from 1820 AD to present), few new plant taxa were recorded. On the basis of the ‘coexistence approach’, the Mean Annual Temperature (MAT) was inferred to be 22 °C, 15 °C, 15 °C, 20 °C and 22 °C during phases I to V, respectively. The Mean Annual Precipitation (MAP)was 2660 ± 3700 mm from ~4.3 to 0.12 ka; however, it decreased to ~1750 mm between 3.4 and 2.3 ka. However, pollen evidence reveals short-term cooler spells during the 16/17th century AD, which is in concordance with the globally recorded cooler and arid climate that began sometime from ~5.0 to 4.0 ka. A thematic digital elevation map of vegetation reconstructed for the years 2005 and 2018 shows a reduction in evergreen plants and water bodies in the vicinity of Kundala Lake, which was correlated with the results of palynological studies and Indian meteorological data for the last ~100 years in the region.

ELECTRONIC ATLAS “UKRAINE. CULTURAL AND LANDSCAPE HERITAGE”: CONCEPTUAL FOUNDATIONS AND EXPERIENCE OF CREATION

This study aims to present the main conceptual and methodological approaches to the consideration of the cultural and landscape heritage of Ukraine as a subject of scientific research and the results of its cartographic visualization in the form of a thematic electronic atlas. The electronic atlas, “Ukraine. The Cultural and Landscape Heritage,” was established as a key strategy to accelerate the practical implementation and popularization of the cultural and landscape approach to protecting, preserving, and managing Ukraine’s cultural and natural heritage. The atlas was created based on the elaborated concept of understanding and developing cultural and landscape heritage, allowing spatial information to be structured and visualized. As a result, the first national electronic cartographic product on this topic was created, which provided a spatial representation of the peculiarities of Ukraine’s cultural and landscape heritage. The distribution and use of the atlas will contribute to further developing thematic mapping and atlas geographic information systems for the protection and preservation of cultural and natural heritage.

Analysis of Krueng Keumirue sub-watershed critical land degradation: a preliminary result of Krueng Aceh watershed using scoring and overlay approach.

Abstract The Krueng Keumirue sub-watershed is one of the crucial parts of the Krueng Aceh watershed. This watershed supplies the main water for Aceh Besar and Banda Aceh residents. One of the sub-watersheds in the region’s primary water source is Krueng Keumirue sub-watershed. However, the threat of land conditions leading to land degradation is the main problem threatening this watershed. The land in this area needs to be maintained to become a sustainable watershed. In a study of sub-watersheds that represent Krueng Aceh watershed conditions, the Krueng Keumireu Sub-watershed needs to be analyzed for its condition. The potential for land criticality is one of the considerations for studying this sub-watershed. This study used the scoring and overlay method to determine the level of land criticality in the Krueng Keumireu sub-watershed. The scoring and overlay method is a spatial analysis using thematic maps overlay technique related to factors that affect vulnerability assessment of critical land conditions. The scoring is based on weighting based on predetermined parameters. The results of this study show that the level of land criticality in the Krueng Keumireu sub-watershed consists of five classes of critical land conditions. The non-critical land class has a total area of 17,397.36 ha or 57.73% of the entire Krueng Keumireu sub-watershed. The critical potential class has an area of 8,332.16 ha or 27.65%, while the slightly critical class covers 4,007.11 ha or 13.30%. The critical class covers 392.01 ha or 1.30%, and the severe critical class only has an 8.47 ha or 0.03% area.

A comparison of hybrid maps for the visualization of two geolocated quantitative variables

Thematic maps, like choropleth maps, symbol maps or cartograms, are commonly used to visualize spatial quantitative data. Many studies have been conducted to compare the different approaches and thus define the best strategies to produce suitable and efficient maps. When analyzing spatial data, it is also often necessary to visualize and compare several variables on the same map. Therefore, the question arises of how to best associate two variables in a single representation without one of them prevailing over the other, while avoiding overloading the map and making it difficult to interpret. In this article, we propose a comparison of five types of bivariate maps based on a user study. Participants performed a set of tasks using different maps produced from multiple datasets. Our analysis is based on three approaches: (1) quantitative analysis of user answer accuracy, (2) quantitative analysis of user answer times, and (3) quantitative and qualitative analysis of user feedback. The results suggest that combining symbol and choropleth maps is the most effective approach among those tested, while combining cartograms with any technique is the worst.

Character education empirical research: A thematic review and comparative content analysis

ABSTRACT Character Education Empirical Research (CEER) is a rapidly emerging field, but no thematic overview is available. This study aimed to fill this gap in the research, generating a thematic map of the CEER, then comparing it to empirical research from the fields of Moral Education (ME) and Positive Education (PE). PRISMA guidelines were followed to conduct a systematic search of the Web of Science and Scopus databases. 222 CEER articles were identified and thematically analysed. Six themes were identified: Conceptualisations, Measure Validations, Associations, Impact, Implementation and Development. Another systematic search was undertaken for PE and ME articles, and the results randomly sampled to attain 100 empirical articles from each field. These samples, along with the CEER, were subjected to a content analysis using the six CEER themes. Results revealed most MEER, PEER and CEER fit into the CEER thematic map, but that there are some key differences in research distribution.

Digital Transformation for Sustainable Transportation: Leveraging Industry 4.0 Technologies to Optimize Efficiency and Reduce Emissions

This study investigates how Industry 4.0 technologies can optimize transportation efficiency and contribute to global sustainability goals by reducing CO2 emissions. In response to the pressing climate emergency, the research examines the role of the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and predictive analytics in enhancing operational performance and aligning transportation systems with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 13 (climate action) and Goal 9 (industry, innovation, and infrastructure). Using a qualitative research approach, semi-structured interviews and focus groups were conducted with industry experts, and the data were analyzed using thematic analysis and qualitative network mapping in NVivo software. The findings reveal that IoT enhances real-time monitoring, AI enables dynamic route optimization, and predictive analytics supports proactive maintenance, collectively achieving an average emission reductions of 30%. However, adoption is hindered by infrastructure gaps, high implementation costs, skill shortages, and fragmented regulatory frameworks. This study integrates the Technology–Organization–Environment (TOE) framework and Sustainable Corporate Theory to provide a structured analysis of digital transformation in transportation. The findings offer strategic insights for policymakers and industry stakeholders, highlighting the need for stronger regulatory support, targeted incentives, and digital infrastructure investments.

Sports Therapy in Focus: A Systematic Bibliometric Analysis of Research Development and Impact

Introduction: This bibliometric analysis explores the research landscape of sports therapy, a specialized field focused on injury prevention, assessment, rehabilitation, and performance enhancement. The study aims to analyze key trends, contributors, and thematic evolution in sports therapy research, providing insights into its development and emerging focus areas. Methods: The study utilizes Biblioshiny, VOSviewer, and CiteSpace to analyze publication trends, citation networks, and thematic evolution. Data was retrieved from Scopus, covering the period 1965–2025. The study examines annual scientific production, the most relevant authors, and co-citation networks to uncover key contributors and collaborative research. Additionally, the most relevant sources and timezone maps of citing journals determine core publication outlets in the discipline. Results: The study examines global scientific production by country and analyzes the most globally cited articles, providing insight into seminal studies. Trend and thematic mapping identify shifts in research focus, with greater emphasis on rehabilitation, chronic disease management, and AI-driven interventions. Co-occurrence analysis of author keywords further categorizes dominant and emerging research themes. Conclusions: Identified research gaps include limited studies on female athletes, adaptive sports therapy, and mental health integration. The study offers practical insights for researchers, clinicians, and policymakers, with a call for greater interdisciplinary collaboration and technology-driven innovations in sports therapy.

Epidemiological Scenario of American Trypanosomiasis and Its Socioeconomic and Environmental Relations, Pará, Eastern Brazilian Amazon

Chagas disease is a serious public health problem worldwide. In Brazil, the state of Pará has the largest number of reported cases. This article analyzes the spatial distribution of this disease and its relationship with socioeconomic, environmental, and public policy health variables in three mesoregions in the Pará state from 2013 to 2022. This ecological study used secondary data obtained from official Brazilian agencies. Spatial analysis was carried out using the flow, kernel, and bivariate global Moran techniques expressed in thematic maps. A total of 3664 cases of the disease were confirmed, with the highest number of cases being reported in the northeast of Pará. A seasonal pattern of the disease, an epidemiological profile similar to other diseases in the Amazon region, and the spatial dependence between the disease prevalence and socioeconomic indicators were observed. The most intense movement of patients for treatment was to the Belém metropolitan mesoregion, which has the majority of the health services and professionals. The disease showed an inhomogeneous pattern of cases in terms of the spatial distribution, with a direct relationship between areas with a higher number of cases and those with human clusters. The socioenvironmental origins of the disease transcend mesoregion boundaries and stem from the historically unsustainable development model in the Amazon.

Research trends in environmental information disclosure: A bibliometric analysis

This study aimed to investigate the development of environmental information disclosure (EID) research publications from 1992 to 2024 to identify trends and provide valuable insights to researchers in related fields. This study employed performance analysis and science mapping strategies, utilizing VOSviewer software and the Biblioshiny function within the R package software, to achieve its research objectives. The results reveal a gradual growth in the number of citations and published publications related to EID topics, and this trend is projected to continue in the upcoming years. The journal "Sustainability" has the most papers, but "Journal of Cleaner Production" has the most citations. Li, Y., Yang, Y.L. and Yao, S. are the most productive authors in terms of number of publications, however, Zeng, S.X., Garcia-Sanchez, I.M. and Gallego-Alvarez, I. are recognized as having papers ranked in the H-index and G-index, respectively. In addition, thematic map analysis indicates terms in two groups, including Niche and Motor themes should be the focus key terms of future research. Additionally, the results indicate that environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance, digital transformation, EID, and green innovation are among the top topics in terms of research trends for recent three years (2022-2024). This study suggests several potential future research directions by examining the relationship between these terms in different countries and industries.
