Investigation of Cellular Base Transmitter Station Power Radiation using Spectrum Analyzer

<p class="Abstract">The development of information and communication technology has spurred the development of the world of telecommunications. The development of telecommunications can be seen from the number of cellular service users supported by technological infrastructure in the form of BTS (Base Transmission Station). But in its development, there are social problems in the form of resistance from the community around BTS, one of the things that people worry about is the danger of radiation from BTS. This could be due to a lack of socialization and knowledge from the community. This study aims to provide education as well as quantitative evidence regarding radiation from BTS in Bulakrejo which is compared with safety standards from International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) and Ministry of Communication and Information Indonesia. Next-Generation Payment System for Device-to-Device Content and Processing Sharing.

Recent developments in telecommunication world have allowed customers to share the storage and processing capabilities of their devices by providing services through fast and reliable connections. This evolution, however, requires building an incentive system to encourage information exchange in future telecommunication networks. In this study, we propose a mechanism to share bandwidth and processing resources among subscribers using smart contracts and a blockchain-based incentive mechanism, which is used to encourage subscribers to share their resources. We demonstrate the applicability of the proposed method through two use cases: (i) exchanging multimedia data and (ii) CPU sharing. We propose a universal user-to-user and user-to-operator payment system, named TelCash, which provides a solution for current roaming problems and establishes trust in X2X communications. TelCash has a great potential in solving the charges of roaming and reputation management (reliance) problems in telecommunications sector. We also show, by using a simulation study, that encouraging D2D communication leads to a significant increase in content quality, and there is a threshold after which downloading from base station is dramatically cut down and can be kept as low as 10%.

DTN Architecture With Resource-Aware Rate Adaptation for Multiple Bundle Transmission in InterPlanetary Networks

The world of telecommunications, from some years, is revitalizing an high interest to Deep Space Communication (DSC) and Delay Tolerant Network (DTN) architecture as enabling technologies to offer internet services for aerospace vehicles or orbital stations. The communications between the planets in the solar system is well known to present a series of problems that need to be faced. The fundamental challenge with InterPlanetary Communication (IPC) is the intermittent Line of Sight (LoS) caused by planets movement and the significant propagation time. A possible way to face with it is the use of a DTN approach where routers use a store-and-forward transmission in a hop-by-hop message exchange mechanism. Thanks to this approach, it is possible to face many issues related to the transport layer. The main contribution of this work concerns the proposal of a bundle management layer able to assign at the receiver the appropriate bundle rate on the basis of concurrent bundle transmissions, the output link capacity and buffer resources. The proposed strategy can be integrated with a routing algorithm for InterPlanetary Networks (IPNs) and DTN networks. In our case we consider the Earliest Arrival Optimal Delivery Ratio (EAODR) routing that applies a modified temporal graph to select the IPN nodes. Performance evaluation have been led out to show the benefits of our proposal on the single links and also on the routing scheme in terms of bundle delivery ratio and average bundle delivery time.

Student Narrative Against Hoax News on Social Media

Being a student in this era of digitalization and the increasingly sophisticated world of telecommunication, presents its own challenges. that's why the author conducted research with the aim of digging deeper into student involvement in the digital era through social media in countering hoax news. The author in this study used the Forum Group Discussion method, which was carried out separately in two groups, namely students and college students. Segregated by gender because to minimize the swaying of opinion. The FGD was conducted on 10 students from four faculties. The data is processed using the Miles Huberman and Saldana data collection, condensation, and presentation models. Meanwhile, to review the validity of the data, the author uses a data triangulation model. The results of the author's research show that 60% of students are classified as very active on social media with an accuracy of 70% of student activities in verifying information on social media. The form of counter-narratives that students do is the first active clarification in their social media channels. Second, students make correct narrations as a form of contradiction to the content of the untrue news that has spread. Third, if students have not been able to make a correct narrative, students prefer not to spread / stop the chain of sharing hoax news in the community.

Analysis ICT Effect on Indonesian Exports With Emerging Market Countries

<p>The development of information and communication technology (ICT) has recently affected international trade besides macroeconomic variables. This study aims to analyze the influence of ICTs (internet users, mobile cellular subscriptions, and fixed telephone subscriptions) and macroeconomic variables (population, economic distance, real GDP per capita, and real exchange rate) on Indonesian export performance with 6 countries emerging markets. This study uses secondary data sourced from UN Comtrade, International Telecommunication Union (ITU), World Bank, Distancefrom.net, and Federal Reserve Economic Data. Then, this study uses a static panel data analysis with the Ordinary Least Suares (OLS) method.</p><p>The results showed that internet users had a positive and significant effect on export performance, and fixed telephone subscriptions had a negative and insignificant effect. Other results showed that the population had a positive and significant effect on export performance, the distance of the economy had a negative and significant effect on export performance, real per capita GDP had a negative and insignificant effect on export performance, and the real exchange rate had a negative and significant effect on export performance.</p><p>Keywords: emerging markets, export performance, ICT, macroeconomic variables, OLS methods.</p>

Experimental comparison of DSB and CS-DSB mmW formats over a hybrid fiber and FSO fronthaul network for 5G.

The telecommunication world is experiencing the 5th generation (5G) networks deployment including the use of millimeter wave (mmW) frequency bands to satisfy capacity demands. This leads to the extensive use of optical communications, especially the optical fiber connectivity at the last mile access and the edge networks. In this paper we outline fiber and free space optics (FSO) technologies for use as part of the 5G optical fronthaul network. We investigate two different mmW transmission schemes based on (i) the conventional analog radio over fiber transmission using one Mach-Zehnder modulator (MZM) with double sideband (DSB) optical modulation, and (ii) an optical-based frequency doubling with one MZM biased at the null point to introduce carrier suppression DSB (CS DSB) transmission and second MZM used for data modulation. Both systems are assessed in terms of the error vector magnitude, signal-to-noise ratio, dynamic range and phase noise. We consider a configuration for the fronthaul network in the frequency range 2 (FR2) at 27 and 39 GHz with the scale of bandwidth up to 400 MHz with M-quadrature amplitude modulation and quadrature phase shift keying. Results are also shown for FR1 at 3.5 GHz. Moreover, we investigate for the first time the 5G new radio signal transmission under strong turbulence conditions and show the turbulence-induced FSO link impairment. We finally demonstrate the CS DSB scheme performs well under chromatic dispersion-induced fading for the frequency up to 40 GHz and single mode fiber length of 30 km, whereas the DSB format seems more appropriate for an antenna seamless transmission.

The role of digital skill in mitigating digital divide: evidences from Asia-Pacific region

PurposeThis paper aims to make a modest attempt to classify the Asia-Pacific countries in terms of the access to information and communication technology (ICT) to unearth the prevalence of digital divide (if any) in the Asia-Pacific region. In addition to that, this paper also examines the role played by the digital skill in bridging the digital divide in the context of Asia–Pacific countries.Design/methodology/approachSecondary data on 43 Asia-Pacific countries for the period from 2012 to 2017 was collected from International Telecommunication Union (ITU) database and World Development Indicators, World Bank. K-means clustering technique was applied to explore the natural grouping of the Asia-Pacific countries based on ICT access. The role of digital/ICT skill in narrowing the access-based digital divide was investigated using panel data regression technique.FindingsClustering of countries suggested a significant difference amongst the Asia-Pacific countries in terms of ICT access, signifying the prevalence of access based digital divide. Digital skill played pivotal role in promoting ICT access and thereby reducing the digital divide during the period of the study. Per capita income level, level of education, openness of the economy and urbanisation were observed to be the determining factors in reducing the digital divide during the period of study in the Asia-Pacific region.Originality/valueThe study makes an unique attempt to explore the role of digital/ICT skill in tapering the access-based digital divide in the context of Asia-Pacific region.

An intelligent algorithm to reduce and eliminate coverage holes in the mobile network

Abstract The need for services in the world of telecommunications and the prosperity and rapid development of this sector around the world has led mobile phone companies to compete to provide the best services to customers. One of these devices used for communications is the mobile phone. The mobile phone is simply an electronic device that is mainly serving unwired telecommunications through a cellular network of particular base stations known as cell sites. There are many obstacles or problems in the telecommunication field, and the relevant institutions and companies should find solutions to these obstacles and problems. One of these obstacles in telecommunications is the coverage holes. Coverage holes occur when the location of the mobile phone is set in midway between the two base transceiver stations (BTSs). This causes an abnormal interruption in communication until the user crosses the coverage holes area. This paper presents an intelligent algorithm as a set of technical steps that can be used to improve the communication services of the mobile phone network and to solve the communication problems via the reduction of the coverage holes between two BTSs. It suggests a method that could alleviate this problem using a strategy that reduces the coverage holes by developing an intelligent algorithm system to receive signal strength indicators and use AT command “+CREG” to disconnect and reconnect to available BTS within an acceptable energy level. As a result, the connection turned from marginal into good connection.

The purpose of the study was to identify the features of the development of the global telecommunications market, its impact on the digital transformation of the economy of the Republic of Belarus. The subject of the article is the global telecommunications market and its development in China, Belarus. Methods of analysis and synthesis, system approach, generalization, grouping, and comparative analysis were used in the study. The relevance of the research topic is due to the fact that the telecommunications market has the highest growth rates in the modern world economy. The prospects for economic growth of any state depend on the level of its development. Using digital technologies, countries can quickly become leaders in economic development. The subjects of the telecommunications market of goods and services are identified. The features of the modern telecommunications market are identified: an increase in the volume of investment in the market of goods and services of information and communication technologies; the use of mobile technologies as one of the main drivers of the growth of the information and communication technologies market; the creation of platforms that integrate technologies, networks and devices that provide the use of new opportunities; an increase in the degree of concentration and consolidation in the telecommunications market. The features of the Chinese telecommunications market are: the development of individual products and services for customers, the transformation of traditional industries with the help of Internet technologies, a high level of competition and risks, and significant attention to the production of consumer electronics. Huawei's main competitive strategy is diversification. A distinctive feature of Huawei's work in the Belarusian market is its focus on building mainly its own systems and networks, that is, its own infrastructure. The results of the study can be used in the practice of business entities and public administration bodies.

Design Indoor FM Communication Based on SDR and GNU Radio Using Validated Spectrum Analyzer

The number of software in the telecommunications world allows us to make an FM simulation, one of the software is GNU Radio. This paper will explain FM communication simulations that use a guide between GNU Radio and RTL-SDR and are validated using a spectrum analyzer. The simulation is carried out twice, the first simulation tests the SDR transmit which will be tested in the simulation to be carried out in the GNU Radio worksheet. The second simulation tests an SDR receiver that uses a frequency of 100.3 MHz. Validation is done at a distance of ± 1 meter using a spectrum analyzer connected to the antenna and will receive frequencies of 60,65,70,75 and 80 MHz which will be compared with GNU Radio readings. The parameters to be used are signal to noise ratio (SNR) and beam power. From the results of the first simulation study using GNU Radio worksheets obtained the value of the emission power of -12.4 dBm and the second simulation obtained a value of -12.87. While the validation results show that the value obtained is the accuracy of 99.5% on the measurement of the transmitter’s power value while the signal to noise ratio of 99.78%.

The article considers topical issues of research and improvement of the conflict management system in the organization. The article is aimed at improving the methodical aspects of conflict management in the organization in order to develop ways and practical recommendations for their solution. The research was carried out on the example of conflict management analysis at PJSC «Kyivstar». According to the results of the research, it is substantiated that in order to determine the level of proneness to conflict in the team and estimate the relationships between managers and subordinates of the organization, it is advisable to conduct regular monitoring on the basis of questionnaires of employees and management of the organization. The proposed method of studying conflicts was tested on the example of PJSC «Kyivstar» on the basis of the use of an online survey of employees from different divisions. The developed questionnaire allowed to analyze how employees themselves valuate the state of conflict problems in the organization and what they see the reasons for their occurrence in their respective divisions. The activities of the organization chosen for research have been analyzed and it is determined that PJSC «Kyivstar» is one of the largest integrated world telecommunications companies – VEON. As one of the components of the company’s success, a clear organizational structure and effective distribution of responsibilities and functions among the company’s employees are allocated. The article provides a brief analysis of the results of the survey of PJSC «Kyivstar» employees and analyzes the behavior style used during the conflict. A study of the influence of the allocated factors on the frequency of conflicts in the organization was carried out. To determine the presence and degree of such an influence, it is proposed to use the cross-tab method based on the building up and analyzing of contingency tables. The use of the chosen method for research is demonstrated by the example of the most influential of the allocated factors, namely: the number of subordinates for an employee and the level of education of a particular employee, as well as their impact on the number of conflicts in the organization. Conclusions on the presence and main causes of conflict situations are formulated, among which are allocated, in particular, the socio-psychological climate in the team and the unfair distribution of privileges.

Political Factors that Enable an Internet Kill Switch in Democratic and Non-Democratic Regimes

Authoritarian regimes' efforts to limit access to the have captivated academic and popular attention. After the political process baptized as Arab Spring, when Egypt (alongside other nation-states) digitally vanished from the global Internet, academics and non-governmental organizations have focused their attention on authoritarian regimes because of their policies' impact on human rights. In this context, one of the policies under study has been the shutdown of the entire Internet, also known as the Internet kill switch. However, it is less known that there has been an ongoing legal debate in democratic regimes on the authority government leaders should have to execute an shutdown in times of crisis. A historical analysis of the world's telecommunications history shows that one of the factors for governmental control is a national security problem, which is addressed differently in democratic and nondemocratic regimes. When it comes specifically to an shutdown, this paper proposes a non-traditional approach to the current academic path: identifying the political factors that enable democratic and nondemocratic regimes to shut down the Internet. For this purpose, this paper proposes a multiple case study, including three democracies (U.S., U.K., Australia) and two nondemocratic regimes (Russia and Venezuela). This paper will provide an overview of each nation-state under study and the shutdown policy's situation within their territories and the governments' reasoning to adopt this extreme form of government control or consider doing so. This paper will not include any episode of taking down a specific website or applications, as those are considered censorship episodes. This paper only will cover episodes where the entire within a nation-state or a specific local jurisdiction was taken down, and when there was a debate to consider doing it. By including democratic and nondemocratic regimes, we expect to enrich the governance debate and create awareness about this extreme form of government control over the Internet.

A stakeholder-oriented security analysis in virtualized 5G cellular networks

Besides significantly outperforming past generations in terms of capacity and throughput, 5G networks and systems will provide an infrastructure for the support of highly diversified services and “verticals”. Indeed, the major paradigm shift with respect to previous cellular network generations, specifically oriented to one class of terminals (namely, people’s cell phones), is the largely heterogeneous nature of the multiplicity of end systems supported. Within a 5G infrastructure, playing the role of “network of networks”, traditionally independent technical and business stakeholders are now called to cooperate in the deployment of crucial infrastructure components relying on innovative (for the Telecom world) technologies such as virtualization, not in the traditional operators’ portfolio, and eventually placed in security-critical parts of the network — think e.g. to Multi Access Edge Computing systems. Goal of this survey is to analyze the complex threat landscape of 5G systems, by taking the point of view of the involved stakeholders. The motivation behind our proposed analysis revolves on the observation that, in complex and virtualized systems such as the 5G infrastructure, an attack to a system component under the responsibility of a given stakeholder may yield a dramatic impact to a completely different player. Therefore, while reviewing the many 5G security risks and relevant threats which the main stakeholders operating in virtualized 5G cellular networks are exposed to, we will try to showcase the sometimes non-obvious relation between impact and responsibility, as well as identify shared responsibilities.

Smartphones in today's era are a basic necessity especially for those who have high mobility. No less advanced than technological developments, innovation in the telecommunications world is also one of the biggest contributors to the dissemination of information in society or commonly called social media. This study aims to measure the influence of Electronic Word of Mouth (e-WOM) that occurs in YouTube social media on the intention to buy Samsung Galaxy S10 smartphones through the brand image as a mediating variabel. The type of method used in this research is quantitative by using Path Analysis. This study has positive results between influences e-WOM on the purchase intention, while there was a positive influence between e-WOM on the brand image variabel and the brand image variabel had a positive effect on the purchase intention. Further research may include price and product quality.

The article focuses on the main driving forces that force telecom operators to introduce the latest achievements of scientific and technological progress into their networks and provide subscribers with new opportunities and advantages. One of the latest advances in the world of telecommunications is the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS). Based on literary sources, a review of the IMS concept is carried out, the main ideas embodied by it are highlighted. The paper provides a solution for the implementation of virtual IMS technology in the telecommunications network infrastructure, defines the main network equipment on which the functional components of the vIMS network are implemented.

<p>The development of increasingly sophisticated technology follows the needs of the community, one of them in the telecommunications world is FTTH (Fiber to the Home) which is an optical signal delivery format from the center of the provider to the homes of costumers by using optical fiber as a medium of delivery. Delivery by using this FTTH technology can save costs and provide better service to customers. The study was conducted by interview and observation methods with network objects and FTTH components belonging to Telkom Semarang and through the literature method by searching some literature. FTTH configuration starts with the ONT to rosette connected using a patchcord cable then from rosette to OTP using an indoor cable then from OTP to ODP outside the home is connected using a dropcore cable. ODP itself is the result of the distribution of distribution cables/ aerial cables leading to ODC. ODC to STO/FTM/ODF using feeder cable. FTTH network is very effective to use, because it can use triple play services (telephone, internet and IPTV) with just 1ONT/ modem at the customer s side.</p>
