Effect of Human Resources, Technological Resources, and Collaboration Towards Logistic Firm Performance

The high cost of logistics in Indonesia and Indonesia's declining Logistics Performance Index (LPI) ranking by 2023 showed fundamental problems with the resources of the logistics sector. However, there is a gap in previous studies that only discuss human resources, technological resources, and collaboration separately. This study aims to analyze the human resources, technology, and collaboration in improving logistics firm performance. This quantitative research takes the population of logistics service provider companies incorporated in the Indonesian Logistics and Forwarder Association in the Riau Islands. Data was analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The purposive sampling technique was used, and 234 respondents as the sample used. Results showed that even though collaboration has the lowest effect, but still human resources, technological resources, and collaboration positively affect logistic firm performance.

“T-CoRe”: a new instrument for studies on Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge and for technological teacher education

Competencies related to the use of technologies are essential for today’s citizens, justifying their implementation in educational environments. However, teacher education is crucial for effective learning with these resources. Thus, research on teachers’ Knowledge Bases, including Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge, becomes highly relevant. This article presents “T-CoRe”, an instrument designed to support teachers’ technological education and facilitate research in this field. Inspired by Loughran and collaborators, “T-CoRe” consists of eight questions regarding using technological resources in teaching, enabling access to teachers’ Knowledge Bases, particularly their technological knowledge. The instrument was tested with future Biology teachers, revealing promising aspects of “T-CoRe” for research purposes. The results also emphasize the instrument’s capacity to identify gaps in Knowledge Bases throughout teacher education.

Enerchainability in Agriculture Supply Chain: Examining the adoption of Blockchain and its Energy Efficiency from Farmers’ Perspective

This study investigates factors influencing farmers’ acceptance of blockchain technology within the concept of “enerchainability,” which integrates energy efficiency and blockchain to enhance sustainability in the agriculture supply chain (ASC). It examines how farmers’ awareness, social networks, access to technology, and participation in agricultural training shape their behavioral intention to adopt blockchain. Data were collected through a structured survey focusing on demographic factors, social networks, and supply chain challenges. Results show that social networks, technological resources, and education significantly affect blockchain adoption. Younger, educated farmers are more receptive to the technology, while issues like reduced bargaining power and high production costs act as barriers. The study’s findings, though focused on one region, have global relevance for similar agricultural and technological contexts, offering insights into how blockchain can drive sustainability and energy efficiency. The research provides recommendations for policymakers and stakeholders, emphasizing the importance of farmer education and external support for blockchain adoption in ASC.

The coherent measurement cost of coherence distillation

Quantum coherence—an indispensable resource for quantum technologies—is known to be distillable from a noisy form using operations that cannot create it. However, distillation exacts a hidden coherent measurement cost, which has not previously been examined. We devise the target effect construction to characterize this cost through detailed conditions on the coherence-measuring structure necessary in any process realizing exact (maximal or non-maximal) or approximate distillation. As a corollary, we lower-bound the requisite measurement coherence, as quantified by operationally-relevant measures. We then consider the asymptotic limit of distilling from many copies of a given noisy coherent state, where we offer rigorous arguments to support the conjecture that the (necessary and sufficient) coherent measurement cost scales extensively in the number of copies. We also show that this cost is no smaller than the coherence of measurements saturating the scaling law in the generalized quantum Stein's lemma. Our results and conjectures apply to any task whereof coherence distillation is an incidental outcome (e.g., incoherent randomness extraction). But if pure coherence is the only desired outcome, our conjectures would have the cautionary implication that the measurement cost is often higher than the distilled yield, in which case coherence should rather be prepared afresh than distilled from a noisy input.

GLIM consensus approach to diagnosis of malnutrition: A 5-year update.

The Global Leadership Initiative on Malnutrition (GLIM) introduced an approach for malnutrition diagnosis in 2019 that comprised screening followed by assessment of three phenotypic criteria (weight loss, low body mass index [BMI], and low muscle mass) and two etiologic criteria (reduced food intake/assimilation and inflammation/disease burden). This planned update reconsiders the GLIM framework based on published knowledge and experience over the past 5 years. A working group (n = 43 members) conducted a literature search spanning 2019-2024 using the keywords "Global Leadership Initiative on Malnutrition or GLIM." Prior GLIM guidance activities for using the criteria on muscle mass and inflammation were reviewed. Successive rounds of revision and review were used to achieve consensus. More than 400 scientific reports were published in peer-reviewed journals, forming the basis of 10 systematic reviews, some including meta-analyses of GLIM validity that indicate strong construct and predictive validity. Limitations and future priorities are discussed. Working group findings suggest that assessment of low muscle mass should be guided by experience and available technological resources. Clinical judgment may suffice to evaluate the inflammation/disease burden etiologic criterion. No revisions of the weight loss, low BMI, or reduced food intake/assimilation criteria are suggested. After two rounds of review and revision, the working group secured 100% agreement with the conclusions reported in the 5-year update. Ongoing initiatives target priorities that include malnutrition risk screening procedures, GLIM adaptation to the intensive care setting, assessment in support of the reduced food intake/assimilation criterion, and determination of malnutrition in obesity.

Unveiling sustainable tourism themes with machine learning based topic modeling

This study explores the intersection of sustainable and green tourism with 17 United Nations sustainable development goals (SDGs), identifying key themes and emerging interdisciplinary configurations. Using the PRISMA framework, we analyzed publications covering the years 2015–2023. A machine learning-based BERTopic model was employed to extract meaningful topics and map publications to the relevant SDGs. This study reveals a strong link between sustainable tourism and multiple SDGs. Seven key themes illustrate the role of sustainable tourism in fostering economic growth, environmental conservation, and community resilience. Geotourism and geoheritage development contribute to quality education (SDG 4) by promoting geological knowledge and conservation while generating local economic opportunities. The tourism-energy-economy nexus highlights the need for clean energy (SDG 7) and climate action (SDG 13) to mitigate emissions linked to tourism-driven economic expansion. Mangrove ecosystem ecotourism management safeguards biodiversity and strengthens life below water (SDG 14) and life on land (SDG 15) while supporting sustainable livelihoods. Rural and smart data-driven tourism enhance decent work and economic growth (SDG 8) by integrating technology and local resources into sustainable development strategies. Ecotourism and community engagement empower local populations, fostering sustainable cities and communities (SDG 11) and partnerships for the goals (SDG 17) through collaborative conservation efforts. Finally, eco-destinations and tourist engagement emphasize responsible consumption and cultural heritage preservation, reinforcing responsible consumption and production (SDG 12). Together, these themes underscore tourism’s broader role in achieving the SDGs by balancing economic benefits with environmental and social sustainability. Our findings add to policy-making and strategic planning, emphasizing the need for a more subtle approach to sustainable tourism, considering diverse regional contexts. Future research should focus on applying technologies such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and big data, conducting in-depth case studies, examining socioeconomic impacts on local communities, and evaluating policy effectiveness to increase its contribution to achieving the SDGs.Clinical trial registration: Not applicable.

Research on Digital Transformation and the Innovation Model of SMMEs: The Case Study of PAYA

The rapid development of digital technology has prompted many enterprises to carry out digital transformation. For SMMEs (small- and medium-sized equipment manufacturing enterprises), digital transformation is not only a necessary measure to deal with changes in the external environment but also a key opportunity to stimulate the vitality of internal innovation. At the same time, the digital transformation of SMMEs and a series of innovation activities caused by it, as well as the various innovation models that have evolved from it, are closely related to managerial cognition. On the premise that digital transformation is regarded as an enterprise innovation activity, this study discusses the ways in which digital transformation drives the innovation model of SMMEs. Taking PAYA as the research object, combined with the theory of resource orchestration, this study adopts the longitudinal single-case study method to explore the connotation and operation logic of the SMME innovation model and constructs a theoretical “digital transformation-innovation-innovation” model. The key findings of the research are as follows: Firstly, innovation models experience a phased evolution. Digital transformation promotes the innovation of SMMEs through three stages: digital technology structuring single-agent innovation, digital technology bundling dual-agent innovation, and digital technology leveraging multi-agent innovation. Secondly, the role of managerial cognition is pivotal. Managerial cognition is the core driving force promoting the digital transformation and innovation of enterprises. Digital transformation, in turn, enables enterprises to continuously accumulate digital technology and digital resources, guiding them from internal single-subject innovation to dual-subject innovation, and ultimately forming a multi-subject innovation model. Thirdly, resource orchestration is a dynamic mechanism. Digital transformation promotes the evolution of enterprise innovation models through resource assembly, resource integration, and resource collaboration. This process not only optimizes the allocation of internal resources within the enterprise but also amplifies the scale effect of innovation through collaboration with external partners. Theoretically, this study aims to enrich the understanding of digital transformation in the context of innovation models for SMMEs. It particularly sheds light on the formation logic of innovation models during the digital transformation process, thereby filling a gap in the existing literature. At the practical level, it will have a certain reference value for the “empowering” and “enabling” processes involved in the digital transformation of SMMEs. It also provides practical guidance for SMMEs on how to achieve innovation during the digital transformation process.

The study aimed to evaluate the extent to which the "Hour of Code" with Minecraft initiative could achieved the Sultanate of Oman’s child-friendly education principles, in accordance with the Child-Friendly Education Guide issued by the Ministry of Education and UNICEF (2022). The sample included 62 teachers and 2,353 students from the third and fourth grades in schools in Dhofar Governorate. The study used a form to collect data on the implementation of the Hour of Code with Minecraft and a 20-item questionnaire for teachers, measuring the achievement of the six principles of child-friendly education: equality, child-centeredness, participation, sustainability, inclusivity, and protection. The study showed that the program highly achieved the child-centeredness principle, as it encouraged students to make independent decisions and develop critical thinking. There was also a high level of achievement in the principles of equality and protection. However, there was a relative weakness in the participation principle, especially in involving parents. The results also indicated that the program was inclusive, providing equal opportunities for children to participate regardless of their economic or social backgrounds. There was no significant effect of the schools' geographic location from the governorate center on the implementation of activities or the achievement of principles, reflecting the program’s effectiveness in providing equal educational opportunities for children, It also indicates the readiness of the necessary infrastructure for e-learning based on Internet communication in Dhofar Governorate, as well as a high level of sustainability and adaptability. The study recommends enhancing parental involvement in various educational activities, developing comprehensive teacher training on implementing child-friendly education principles through educational activities, and establishing these principles as foundational in designing educational programs. Additionally, it suggests improving technological resources in remote schools and adopting the Hour of Code with Minecraft as part of the school curriculum.

Evaluating the Socioeconomic and Environmental Impacts of Renewable Energy Transition and Green E-Business on Urban Sustainability

This research investigates the environmental and socioeconomic influences of green e-business practices and renewable energy transition on urban sustainability. Moreover, the primary purpose of this study is to evaluate how technology innovation, resource efficiency, government policy and incentives, and renewable energy help in sustainable urban development. This study followed a quantitative research design that applied “structural equation modeling” (SEM) to examine the connection between critical variables. Stratified random sampling was utilized to select the sample size. Additionally, surveys have been conducted on urban stakeholders to collect the relevant data. Furthermore, to analyze the collected data SPSS has been utilized. Significantly, the results highlight that adopting renewable energy, supported by technological innovation and government policies, remarkably contributes to urban development and sustainability. In addition, government incentives and policies were observed to influence resource sustainability and efficiency positively. At the same time, adopting renewable energy was strongly associated with improved socioeconomic and environmental outcomes. Furthermore, technology innovation has a considerable role in resource management and strongly assists in urban sustainability. However, green e-business practices exhibited no direct influence on urban sustainability or resource efficiency, encouraging a focus on the roles of technological innovation, government support, and renewable energy for achieving better urban sustainability. Therefore, this study offers valuable information for urban planners, businesses, and policymakers, highlighting that integrated strategies emphasizing technological innovation, policy support, and renewable energy can drive better urban development and sustainability.

Leadership styles and digital transformation: a literature review

Digital transformation is a response to the dynamism in which organizations operate, creating opportunities and innovate. Leaders have become protagonists in the mission of leveraging technology to produce sustainable competitive advantages. Innovation and creativity are skills perceived as traits of a digital leader. However, do they really influence the capacity to promote digital transformation? The definition of "digital leader model" is complex and permeates lines between technology and human resources. There is a gap between the leadership traits and the understanding about the impact that they have on digital transformation. The aim of this study is covering this lacuna. Based on a systematic literature review, it was developed a "digital leader model", specifically by showing which leadership capabilities influence the digital maturity of an organization and why it happens.

About the interplay between technological resources and institutional factors for realizing digital work: a public sector long-term view

PurposeThe digital era requires organizations to realign their work practices, culture, and structure. This study investigates the complex dynamics of organizational adaptation to rapid technological advancements by examining the interplay between technological resources and institutional factors over time.Design/methodology/approachAn in-depth long-term case study of a public sector organization forms the basis of this research. The study employs the resource-based view (RBV) and institutional theory as theoretical frameworks to analyze the organization’s digital transformation journey, integrating qualitative and quantitative data collection methods.FindingsThe findings reveal a gradual evolution in the organization’s digital maturity, transitioning from a focus on IT infrastructure to a comprehensive integration of technological resources with organizational processes and human capital. The study underscores the critical synergy between institutional factors and technological adaptation, with key milestones marking the organization’s progress toward a digitally integrated and employee-centric state. External factors, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, are shown to accelerate digital transformation.Practical implicationsThe study outlines a tailored roadmap for public sector organizations to align institutional culture and structure with technological resources, facilitating successful digital transformation.Originality/valueThis study provides a novel long-term perspective on digital transformation, emphasizing the importance of balancing resource optimization with institutional alignment. It offers strategic guidance for organizations embarking on digital transformation journeys, highlighting the role of institutional culture, employee engagement, and external catalysts in achieving sustainable digital integration.

Strategic Tools for the Formation of Cluster Capital to Implement Technological Innovations

In today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape and accelerating technological development, industrial clusters play a crucial role in fostering innovation and ensuring sustainable economic growth. However, their effectiveness largely depends on the organization of optimal interactions between the participants, which implies a balanced allocation of resources and the co-evolution of capitals within the cluster. In this paper, we introduce strategic tools designed to form cluster capital by integrating financial, technological, and intellectual resources to create a sustainable environment for technological innovation implementation. To solve the set tasks, we developed a mathematical model based on the entropy approach and network analysis methods. This was developed to model and optimize the resource distribution among the cluster participants. The application of the proposed model using the example of the PenzaStankoMash industrial machine-building cluster has shown that the optimal configuration of the actors’ capitals in clusters contributes to the creation of synergetic effects. This increases the innovation potential and overall efficiency of the system. Our modeling considered various capital allocation scenarios, leading us to conclude that a balanced approach is important. The results of this study contribute to an in-depth understanding of the mechanisms for optimizing interactions in clusters. They contain specific strategic tools for managing capitals in clusters and contribute to the development of industrial policy based on the principles of a systematic approach.

Examining gender disparities in pre-service teachers’ satisfaction levels across educational facilities

Purpose Gender satisfaction of the usage of facilities in Higher Education Institution (HEI) has recently gained attention in the research field. This study aims to examine the gender-based disparities in satisfaction levels of college of education facilities usage among pre-service teachers. Design/methodology/approach The study design makes use of descriptive survey approach, and questionnaire was used to gather data. Using the Yamane Formula, a sample size of 336 was chosen for the study. A random sampling was employed to select 336 pre-service teachers whilst descriptive statistical tools were used to analyse the collected data in the form of frequencies, percentages, and means, and independent sample t-tests. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 26 version. Findings The study reveals gender disparity in satisfaction levels across various educational facilities among pre-service teachers. Findings from the study show that there is significant gender disparity with four facilities: Information and Communication Technology (ICT) laboratory, resource centre, accommodation facilities and recreational facilities. However, there is no significant difference in gender satisfaction level in lecture halls, science laboratories and library. Practical implications The study provides data for facilities managers, management of colleges of education and other higher educational institutions to consider gender concerns when planning to put up facilities. It also aids the gender-based policies implementation in Higher Education Institutions. Originality/value The study addresses the intersection of gender equity and educational facilities usage, focusing on the underexplored population of pre-service teachers in Ghanaian college of education. Examining how facility design, accessibility and functionality impacts satisfaction levels differently for males and females, this research sheds light on critical gaps in educational infrastructure planning and policy. The findings aim to not only enhance gender equity but also influence evidence-based reforms in educational facility management, positioning this study as a pioneering effort within the West African context and beyond.

Automatic Subject Cataloguing at the German National Library

The German National Library (DNB) began developing solutions for automatic subject cataloguing 15 years ago. The main reason for this was the huge and ever-growing number of digital media works that needed to be indexed. Today, the DNB uses open source algorithms and frameworks to assign various types of thematic meta information in this way. This practice paper provides a deeper insight into automatic subject cataloguing at the DNB. We look at the data and vocabularies used as well as at the different methods and approaches. The vocabulary for classification is based on the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC). For verbal subject indexing we use the German Integrated Authority File (GND). The use case of automatic classification is divided into the assignment of DDC Subject Categories and DDC Short Numbers. Due to the large size of the GND vocabulary, the use case of automatic indexing is an extreme multi-label classification (XMLC) problem. A brief report is given about the construction and the performance of our models. Based on these use cases, we present some implementation aspects of our “subject cataloguing machine” EMa, the environment for automatic subject cataloguing in productive use. We point out the basic feature set and provide a high-level introduction of the productive EMa system. The modular design of the EMa software architecture with the open source software Annif as a central toolkit is described. The development of EMa is an ongoing task at the DNB. It requires continuous development and maintenance, technological and human resources. Applied research activities in the DNB's AI project are closely related to the EMa ensuring that relevant scientific findings get integrated into its development.

A Bibliometric Analysis of Women Entrepreneurship: Current Trends and Challenges

This study conducts a bibliometric and altmetric analysis of women’s entrepreneurship, examining research trends, challenges, and contributions to sustainable development. By analyzing 6729 journal articles from the Web of Science (1975–2024), this study employs citation analysis, co-citation analysis, and co-word analysis, alongside altmetric indicators, to assess research impact. Visualization tools such as VOSViewer (version 16.20) were used to map the scholarly landscape. Key findings highlight critical themes, including gender disparities, financial barriers, socio-cultural challenges, and digital transformation, underscoring the crucial role of women entrepreneurs in achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This study identifies major research clusters, leading authors, and institutions that shape the field, while also revealing regional disparities in research output. The growing prevalence of open-access research has enhanced knowledge dissemination, yet access to financial and technological resources remains a challenge for women entrepreneurs. This study emphasizes the need for targeted policies to improve access to finance, digital tools, and entrepreneurial education, fostering an enabling ecosystem for women-led businesses. By integrating traditional bibliometric techniques with altmetrics, this research provides a comprehensive assessment of global trends in women’s entrepreneurship, offering valuable insights for academics, policymakers, and practitioners. It contributes to the literature on gender and entrepreneurship by identifying emerging themes and gaps, advocating for inclusive policies and enhanced support mechanisms to drive sustainable economic growth.

Digital Transformation in Human Resource Management: A Case Study of Haier Group and Its Strategic Implications for Businesses

This study explores the strategic implications of digital transformation for corporate growth and sustainability by examining its function in human resource management (HRM), particularly within Haier Group. HRM must adjust by utilizing technology to improve organizational performance as the global economy continues to change due to digitalization. The study discusses the ethical ramifications of the “soft” and “hard” models of human resource management as well as the growing significance of digital HRM in the increasingly interconnected world. The study examines how Haier Group has improved its HR procedures, such as hiring, training, performance management, and employee engagement, by implementing digital tools and platforms. Haier has a competitive edge in the worldwide market thanks to its strategic approach, which combines innovation, technology, and human resources. The study also explores the drawbacks and advantages of digital HRM, including enhanced employee satisfaction, cost savings, and data-driven decision-making. Finally, the study sheds light on HRM’s future by highlighting how crucial it is to constantly adjust to new technology in order to be competitive.

Assessing artificial intelligence knowledge among Al-Zahraa university students: A cross-sectional study

Introduction University educators’ knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI) helps them to effectively utilize these latest technological resources, significantly raising the quality of the teaching and learning process. Objective to evaluate a sample of Al-Zahraa university students' level of AI knowledge. Method From 5August 2024 to 28November 2024, data from Al-Zahraa University for Women students was obtained through an online questionnaire in a cross-sectional survey study. Data was downloaded to an Excel file from Google Forms following it was gathered. The questionnaire's quantitative data was imported and analyzed. Results The total number of participants was 498 participants; however, 89 students refused to answer the questions, which reduced the sample size to 409. Most of the students (90%) reported to be familiar or somewhat familiar with Artificial Intelligence. More than one half of the From 5August 2024 to 28November 2024, data from Al-Zahraa University for Women students was obtained through an online questionnaire in a cross-sectional survey study. Most Al-Zahraa Medical School students got an anonymous online survey. Using a pre-validated, semi-structured questionnaire, 419 medical students in Al-Zahraa university for women engaged in a cross-sectional study.students (57.7%) know AI, whereas a smaller percentage (42.7%) reported to know AI medical application. only one quarter (25.7%) reported having knowledge about machine deep learning. one half (49%) of the students considered it as extremely important in the medical field. Conclusions The study discovered that while Al-Zahraa students understand artificial intelligence (AI) well, they know not much about deep learning, machine learning, and AI applications in radiology and pathology.

Strategic Intelligence Tools Applicable to Customs Transit Operations

From a theoretical standpoint, it analyzes potential solutions for overcoming obstacles related to the technological resources and specialized training required. Fast and Accurate Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger Encoding Using All-to-All Interactions.

The N-qubit Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) state is an important resource for quantum technologies. We consider the task of GHZ encoding using all-to-all interactions, which prepares the GHZ state in a special case, and is furthermore useful for quantum error correction, interaction-rate enhancement, and transmitting information using power-law interactions. The naive protocol based on parallelizing cnot gates takes O(1)-time of Hamiltonian evolution. In this work, we propose a fast protocol that achieves GHZ encoding with high accuracy. The evolution time O(log^{2}N/N) almost saturates the theoretical limit Ω(logN/N). Moreover, the final state is close to the ideal encoded one with high fidelity >1-10^{-3}, up to large system sizes N≲2000. The protocol only requires a few stages of time-independent Hamiltonian evolution; the key idea is to use the data qubit as control, and to use fast spin-squeezing dynamics generated by e.g., two-axis twisting.

The Capacity of Lower-Level Health Centres to Manage Noncommunicable Diseases in Uganda

With funding from the Danish Civil Society Fund (CISU), supported by the Danish NCD Alliance (DNCDA) and Uganda Non-Communicable Diseases Alliance (UNDCA), the study aimed at assessing the capacity of lower-level health centres (HC III & HC IV) to manage Non-Nommunicable Diseases (NCDs) in Uganda. Specifically, the study assessed the capacity of the HC III and HC IV units to (i) detect the main NCDs (cancer, diabetes and heart disease); (ii) offer clinical care, including timely referral of patients with NCDs; and (iii) raise awareness, through health education and health promotion, of major risk factors for NCDs. The study focused mainly on cancer, diabetes and heart disease as the most prevalent NCDs. Using a cross-sectional study design that included both qualitative and quantitative methods, the study revealed that HCs III and IV had inadequate technology, medicine, facilities, policies, recordkeeping, and human resource capacity to manage NCDs and conduct effective health education and promotion. As such, the study recommended that the staffing norms of all levels of HCs be upgraded, funding be increased at the district level, the salaries and general working conditions of HC workers be improved, and all HC health personnel be trained in NCD management
