Obesity in childhood is complex; structural equation modeling (SEM) offers an approach to ascertain complicated relationships between weight and proximal (health behaviors, child health) and distal (family/household, community) variables. The objective of the study was to use SEM to map the influence of different etiological clusters on obesity in childhood. Secondary analysis of baseline data from patients and parents enrolled in a multi-site study of pediatric weight management was conducted. The primary outcome was weight status (utilizing percentage above the 95th percentile BMI, %95BMI). SEM was used to evaluate the influences of variables proximal and distal to child weight within the context of the Ecological Model of obesity in childhood. Complete data on 375 child-parent dyads were imputed. Proximal factors (child stress and mobility, parent BMI) were significantly related to %95BMI; some distal factors (family level) did not have a direct effect on %95BMI, but did indirectly through proximal factors (such as child stress). Other distal factors (neighborhood deprivation represented by the Area Deprivation Index) were significantly related to %95BMI and family-level factors. Except for the distal factor of neighborhood deprivation, proximal factors were the drivers of weight status. Distal factors did have indirect effects via proximal factors. SEM provides a means to investigate the complex contributors to childhood obesity, and could identify key leverage points for intervention.

To investigate longitudinal relationships among psychological stress, inflammation biomarkers, and cognitive function over a 9-year period using data from the Midlife in the United States (MIDUS) study. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was conducted on MIDUS Wave 2 data (M2, N = 790), incorporating biomarkers of stress (cortisol, norepinephrine, epinephrine, dopamine), inflammation (interleukin-6, C-reactive protein, fibrinogen, soluble ICAM-1), and cognition (episodic memory, executive function), with follow-up cognitive outcomes from MIDUS Wave 3 (M3). Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) assessed measurement validity, and key SEM assumptions were tested. CFA indicated acceptable model fit. SEM revealed significant cross-sectional associations among stress, inflammation, and cognitive variables at baseline. Baseline cognitive function strongly predicted follow-up cognition 9 years later, indicating high longitudinal stability. However, stress and inflammation biomarkers from M2 did not directly predict M3 cognition. Indirect effects emerged: M2 cognition influenced both M3 executive function and episodic memory through M3 global cognition. Multi-group analysis showed no gender-based differences in model paths. Stress and inflammation biomarkers were associated with cognition cross-sectionally but showed no direct long-term effects. Findings highlight the relative stability and predictive continuity of midlife cognition rather than substantial mean-level change, underscoring midlife as a critical window for sustaining cognitive health.

Empirical and clinical models of borderline personality disorder (BPD) have hypothesized different core dimensions that should explain its phenotypic variability. Nevertheless, no previous studies have directly explored how these dimensions might interplay in capturing BPD features. The current study investigated the role of emotional dysregulation (ED), behavioral dysregulation (BD), dissociative processes reflecting altered self functioning (ASF) and interpersonal sensitivity (IS) in predicting a probable diagnosis of BPD and its clinical features. A sample of 694 adults from the general population was recruited. An online self-report assessment battery composed of SCID-5-BPD, DERS, UPPS-P, DES-II and RSQ-A was administered. The analyses were based on the application of logistic regression, structural equation modeling (SEM) and path analysis. ED had the largest predictive power for BPD diagnosis and each BPD criterion compared to the other dimensions, followed by DOS and BD. IS had an incremental predictive power for BPD diagnosis and affective BPD criteria above and beyond the effects of ED, ASF and BD. SEM and path analysis showed that these dimensions were organized around internalizing (ED, ASF, IS) and externalizing (BD) factors significantly correlated to each other. The internalizing factor had the most influential impacts in predicting BPD psychopathology. These findings provisionally supported an integration of the most influential clinical models of BPD considering how ED, ASF, BD and IS interplay to each other in capturing the clinical variability of this condition. Future clinical and longitudinal studies are needed to corroborate the current insights from the general population.

Amid increasing scholarly attention to faith-based organizational values, this study examines how Islamic workplace spirituality and grit influence teachers' career commitment within private Islamic schools in Indonesia. Grounded in the constructs of istiqāmah (steadfastness), murāqabah (spiritual mindfulness), and taqarrub (closeness to God), the research introduces an integrative framework in which grit serves as a mediating psychological mechanism linking spiritual orientation to vocational dedication. Utilizing data from 429 teachers across elementary, middle, and high schools, this study employed a quantitative cross-sectional design and used a convenience sampling technique to recruit participants. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to evaluate both the measurement and structural models. Findings demonstrate that istiqāmah and murāqabah significantly and directly predict career commitment, whereas taqarrub exerts an indirect effect through grit. Grit itself emerges as a critical psychological construct that amplifies the influence of spiritual dimensions on professional perseverance. By bridging theological and psychological perspectives, this research offers a nuanced understanding of career motivation in religious educational settings. The results provide actionable insights for school leaders and policymakers seeking to cultivate spiritually grounded strategies that foster long-term professional commitment among educators.

Although previous studies have explored factors influencing teachers' professional identity, limited attention has been given to its underlying psychological mechanisms from a metacognitive perspective. In particular, few studies have examined how mindfulness, a core psychological resource, relates to professional identity among early childhood education teachers, a group facing unique emotional and occupational challenges. This study aims to investigate the relationships among mindfulness, psychological resilience, well-being, and professional identity among early childhood education teachers. It focuses on how mindfulness, as a metacognitive psychological resource, is associated with professional identity directly and indirectly through psychological resilience and well-being. A cross-sectional survey was conducted with 854 full-time kindergarten teachers (48 males and 806 females; Mage=30.36, SDage=6.87,) from Shandong Province, China. Validated instruments were used to assess mindfulness, psychological resilience, well-being, and professional identity. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was employed to examine direct and mediated effects, and demographic variables such as age, gender, education level, and income were controlled in the analysis. The results demonstrated that mindfulness was positively associated with professional identity (β=0.15, p<0.05). Psychological resilience significantly mediated this relationship (β=0.52, p<0.001), accounting for 55.5% of the total indirect effect. Well-being also served as an independent mediator (β=0.21, p<0.001), accounting for 22.6% of the total effect. In addition, a sequential mediation pathway was identified, in which psychological resilience and well-being sequentially mediated the relationship between mindfulness and professional identity (β=0.03, p<0.001). The findings highlight mindfulness as a critical factor in strengthening professional identity among early childhood educators by enhancing both psychological resilience and well-being. These results contribute to professional identity theory by incorporating metacognitive and psychological constructs, and also provide practical implications: integrating mindfulness-based interventions (e.g., mindfulness meditation, stress-reduction programs) into teacher training can help educators enhance emotion regulation and resilience. Additionally, creating supportive and caring work environments may further promote teachers' well-being and sustainable professional development.

This study aims to analyze the influence of promotion, product quality, and fear of missing out (FOMO) on the purchase intention of ERSPO Indonesian National Football Team jerseys. The study uses a quantitative descriptive approach with primary data collection through an online questionnaire of 200 respondents who are active fans of the national team on social media and have experienced FOMO. The data were analyzed using the Partial Least Square–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method with the help of SmartPLS. The results showed that promotion had a positive and significant effect on purchase intention, while product quality and FOMO had no significant effect. These findings indicate that the effectiveness of promotional strategies plays a dominant role in increasing consumer purchase intention for ERSPO jerseys compared to product quality and the psychological factor of FOMO. Therefore, companies are advised to focus their marketing strategies on strengthening promotional activities that are relevant and attractive to consumers.

The globalization of trade and the rapid development of the digital economy have promoted the explosion of e-commerce through livestreaming, which stands out as the megalive phenomenon, extremely large-scale broadcasts with outstanding sales. In this context, keeping consumers in suspense (KCIS) has emerged as an essential strategy that shapes perceptions and promotes consumer behavior. However, this topic has not been fully explored. Therefore, this study aims to explore the impact of KCIS strategies, including preview fuzziness (PF), suspense setting (SS), and delight creation (DC), on impulsive buying behavior (IBB) through perceived scarcity (PS), curiosity (CU), emotional arousal (EA), and price perception (PP). A purposive sampling method was employed to collect data from 508 Vietnamese consumers. Structural equation modeling (SEM) using SmartPLS was applied for data analysis. The findings reveal that PF, SS, and DC positively influence PS, CU, and EA. In turn, PS, CU, and EA mediate the relationships between PF, SS, DC, and IBB. Furthermore, PP significantly moderates the links between CU and IBB, EA and IBB, and PS and IBB. Based on these results, the study proposes managerial implications for retailers and brands conducting business through livestreaming on e-commerce platforms to enhance the IBB of consumers in megalive sessions. It also provides theoretical insights while highlighting limitations and suggesting directions for future research.

Adaptive Learning System (ALS) is one of the useful learning tools that has emerged in the technological innovation of the educational sector. Many schools and universities have adopted it for academic use since the prompt of online learning. However, the relative evaluation of ALS has been undermined in the current generation - especially among developing countries. The purpose of this study was to analyze the variables affecting the actual academic use of online ALS among students. A total of 638 students from the Philippines answered an online survey of 50-item questions derived from the eleven constructs used in this study, which were analyzed simultaneously using Structural Equation Modeling. This study utilized two important theories, integrating both the Self-Determination Theory and the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology Use in ALS acceptance. The findings showed that autonomy, competence, price value, and facilitating conditions were the significant factors in student's behavioral intention to use the ALS. Since developing countries are trying to adapt to the current trends among developed countries, it was suggested that developers may need to make their ALS accessible through other gadgets like smartphones and tablets. The findings of this study can contribute to the educational context of digital learning to meet the needs of the students by increasing their behavioral intentions to use ALS. Further, the results provided insights and suggestions to universities and ALS developers to collaborate on improving the ALS for the student's welfare in learning.

The primary objective of this study was to assess employee performance among individuals working remotely, considering the mediating role of digital literacy and the moderating influence of technostress within public universities in Malaysia. A structured questionnaire was used to gather 320 responses from university lecturers. The data were analyzed using the partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) technique through smartPLS-4. The findings indicate that work-from-home (WFH) does not exhibit a direct significant relationship with employee performance, except for an indirect relationship mediated by digital literacy. Conversely, technostress significantly and negatively moderated the relationship between digital literacy and employee performance. Moreover, technostress moderated the indirect relationship between WFH and employee performance through digital literacy. Consequently, digital literacy is essential for the successful implementation of effective work-from-home strategies that enhance employee performance and well-being at work. University management should prioritize enhancing digital literacy before implementing remote work strategies. Additionally, management should address employee technostress levels, as it can influence both digital literacy and employee performance. Future research should explore these findings in other service sectors, such as information technology and customer services.

This study aims to analyze the effect of financial literacy on the financial performance of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) with the utilization of Financial Technology (FinTech) as a moderating variable. The research is grounded in the importance of MSME actors’ ability to manage finances effectively and utilize digital innovation to enhance business competitiveness and sustainability in the digital economy era. A quantitative explanatory approach was employed, involving MSME owners in West Java Province as the study population, with a sample of 400 respondents determined using the Slovin formula at a 5% margin of error. Data were collected through Likert-scale questionnaires and analyzed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings show that financial literacy has a positive and significant effect on MSME financial performance, as indicated by an R² value of 0.582. This means that 58.2% of the variation in financial performance is explained by financial literacy and FinTech utilization, while the remaining 41.8% is influenced by other factors outside the model. Moreover, FinTech utilization also has a positive effect on financial performance and moderates the relationship between financial literacy and financial performance. Higher FinTech adoption strengthens the influence of financial literacy on MSME performance. These findings highlight the importance of synergy between financial education and digital technology adoption in promoting financial inclusion and supporting MSME growth in West Java.
